My father wanted a new TV, so after a late Turkey Day lunch I reluctantly went to the local Wally World, to partake in the 6 pm Black Friday/Thursday event. I got there around 5 pm and the line for TVs was already wrapped all through the store. Just for TVs, not to mention all the other lines. Against my better judgement I thought maybe I'd wait, kinda watching from around the peripheral, until after the initial 6pm mania died down to see if maybe there were any TVs remaining.
Six pm hits and it's as if everyone were stocking up for Doomsday, with only a few supplies remaining. Seriously, I decided I'd just come back tomorrow, or the next day, but I suddenly found myself trapped, near the back of the store, with a half full shopping cart to my left, someone in front, and some woman cramming a large box into my back, with a display of some other stuff to my right. It was a traffic jam. None of us could budge because it was the same thing in every direction. I finally managed to push and squeeze my way out, and make my way to the front of the store, and to my freedom.
I don't want to live on this planet anymore.
I only left our house &yard once, and that was to pick up pizza and wings. Drank good beer, cuddled with my kids, played with the dogs. Black Fridays should always be like this. Not like your ####ed up nightmare of humanity story.

The last time I participated in black friday, I was in college. Now, I don't have time for fun things that they sell for black friday.

I don't plan on ever going to anything like that ever again. Unless I dress up in a bear costume and attack people who are camping in line in tents.
Yep Black Friday is, in my mind, called that because it reveals the blackness in the hearts of men. And that's doubly bad for someone like me who tends heavily toward cynicism, and a general dislike for the human race.
But...during times like this I sometimes remember, or am reminded, that beneath the overwhelming selfishness and rudeness that tends to pervade, there is always someone here and there who doesn't tend to be like that. I don't mean those who do random acts of kindness, though those are included. I mean those people who continually work for good for their communities, like those who work at the homeless shelters, the crisis pregnancy centers, the groundskeepers at church, the ones who are honest in the little things, etc, etc. You know the ones. They're always around, even if they're not always visible.
I am sometimes reminded of that passage in "Return of the King", where Sam is laying in the darkness of Mordor. And he's looking up and happens to see a star shining through a crack in the clouds. He is reminded that there is a light that the darkness can never reach or extinguish.
I didn't exactly care for Justice League. I was amused to find that a joke I made to myself in the beginning has become the popular belief among moviegoers (the "I Tried" sign was Joss' apology and he did what he could with what he had). I think much like BvS & Suicide Squad, there will be a better version of the movie released to Bluray. But that may have been as good as it gets. We'll see.
Catering to the lowest common denominator since Feb 2003.

What did you not like? I had some issues, but thought that there was so much good stuff that the good clearly outweighed the bad.

Things I liked:
I still think Affleck is a great Batman. His opening scene was great.
Wonder Woman is still the best thing DC has going. Her opening scene was great.
Really, anything with Wonder Woman in it.
The Amazons trying to defend the mother box was great.
Lighting the fire to warn the world - nice.
The Parademons looked really good.
The backstory of the original war against Steppenwolf was snazzy, with a lot of cool stuff to take in.
The guy who played Cyborg did a great job.
Superman seeing Flash flanking him was awesome.
The way Batman did different things to be the leader was good writing.
The fight scenes were all pretty good.
The set-up for the Flash/Superman race was nostalgic meth for me.
The appearance of Deathstroke...he looked ####in' bad-ass. Holy #### did they nail that in casting.
Things I didn't like:
Cyborg was too much CGI, not enough flesh.
The Flash was too weird/awkward.
I think Superman defeated Steppenwolf too easily.
For all of the cool stuff the Amazons did, the Atlanteans were just run over.
That one scene of The Flash running was just stupid looking.
Steppenwolf? Really?

Perhaps I'm spoiled but I expected more than the simple story we got (Felt more like an episode of the cartoon where you expect stripped down stories). Everything was cleaned up a bit too neatly (aside from the actual damage they showed of the world). Possible resolutions came too quickly or were argued a bit too much. Barry's character didn't sit right with me

but the slow realization/disbelief while flanking Supes was very funny. I agree that a bunch of Amazons on horse back shouldn't give Magic Carpet Ride more trouble than Atlanteans wielding water magic!
I'm starting to wonder if a lot of what i'm hearing as far as criticisms on justice league as far as story wise/plot points are results of things cut during whedon's re-shoots and the sub two-hour run time edict by warner brothers. the trailer's feature some dialogue scenes that were noticeably absent in the final product and while i'm sure some of them needed to be cut for the re-shoots to stay coherent with what they were being inserted into i'm thinking some didn't need to be and would not have hurt the story.
Well the bank won't give me credit because i'm a bad risk and I don't pay my bills on time. So I have to work for what I have!
I don't see how it was a "simple story". Fate of the world was in jeopardy. Not just the threat of some wind-up exploding penguins. A lot happened, but they did it in 2 hours.

But did a lot happen? Really?

The plan for the baddies was collect three boxes then wait long enough for good guys to do what they should have done immediately after BvS, and then lose! You can say the heroes didn’t have all the info they needed but it took them no time to come up with the plan once they decided to talk to each other (also why did Bruce put any of that off? - He admitted to feeling it, so why wait for something big before even starting the discussion? The sooner he got more heroes out there the better, especially with the state of the world after Superman’s death! He usually has longer vision on matters like this.) And then why fight that idea? So much about that scenario just didn’t work for me - but I had similar issues with the creation of Doomsday so I shouldn’t be surprised. And I guess the world’s only real hope was for a for a long boot-up time on world destroying mother boxes and man, did the world get lucky with that! Sorry but it felt like weak story-telling to me.
