Agree 100%. I was glad to see the Sentry finally get the respect he deserves. Although the fight was brief, it was a good indication of just how powerful the Sentry really is.
How was this an indication? He swooped Michael up into space, and then got pwned by him. There was no real feats of strength (other than him carrying him off) or power.
The Sentry remains a mystery, without any indication as to how powerful he really is. That is, unless you believe what has so far been nothing but hype.

If you aren't reading Captain America, you should be. Turns out Sin and Crossbones staged it all to find out who killed Sin's pappy (aka the Red Skull). Oh, and Bucky may have been set up by Fury, to test him. Starting to sound interesting, CB and and Sin are off to kill Luskin (unaware dear old dad now lurks inside his skull, pun intended), and Winter Soldier is on a B-line for a one way ticket out, bringing along all his foes for the ride.
It made for a nice, 2 part story, while still advancing the main plot along. Almost like Marvel mags used to be (solo, or 2-3 part stories, which still moved a larger plot line along, you could pick up an issue, and not feel like it was dragging, or being rushed).
"Un-fun Dad, un-fun Dad,
He's so bad, he mak'a me mad
Un-fun Dad, un-fun Dad
He's a real cad, Un-fun Dad"

I was wondering how long it would take for you to jump my #### about this.
Look at what the Collective did to Alpha Flight. In mere moments they were destroyed. He completely humbled a powered-up Ironman, then he did the same thing to Ms. Marvel with her Binary powers. Both of which with no trouble. Sentry flew him up into outerspace and then proceded to go toe-to-toe, trading blows with this "Galactus" level villian for a while.
How you consider being pushed away with Telekinetic power getting "pwnd" I'll never know. That was the only way the Collective could do away with him. He wasn't manhandled like the others were.
Eh ... he certainly bought them some time. I just don't think The Sentry's 90's Jenkins stuff and his recent NA appearances merit that he be shown respect by any writer. That said I haven't been reading the new mini ... Respect ... Thor maybe, Vision maybe, Cap always ... Sentry hell no.

Toe-to toe? Trading blows? There's only one panel that even indicates that they struck each other. Other than that, it looks like they just kind of grappled with each other. And how do you know he TK'ed the Sentry away? I mean you could be right, but he could've just as easily chucked him or pushed him away. Judging by the Sentry's look, he was a bit surprised to have been moved aside so easily.
You need to be a realist. The Sentry has done nothing, to prove that he's this bad arse you keep proclaiming him to be. He's hype, and tease. They've told us he's this powerful being, yet they've yet to show anything that definitvly shows that he is. And because of his current mini, you can't really claim anything from the first series to be true. Everything about that series has been thrown into question. I have a high interest in the guy, myself......but let's face it until he does something worthy of the hype, he's just a strong guy that can fly fast, and is highly durable. Just like his OHOTMU entry says he is.

The new mini has done nothing to prove anything about his power level. It's focused more on the mystery of his origin, his schiozphrenia, and his multiple personalities. His origin appears to be far different than what we've been lead to believe. The thing about him drinking the professor's potion, seems to be something that Robert Renyolds made up, as an aspiring comic writer. Sentry may have gotten his powers, because he was a drug addict, and stole some stuff from the local fair.

Agreed. I the words of the immortal Pantera ... Respect, walk.
This dude is only around because Bendis has something against the Odinson. Thor would have inserted Mjolnir in Micheal's vertical smile and smited him into the turf

The Cream and the Clear ? A little HGH on his popcorn ?

One thing that Dalandow didn't mention was Warbird (while pumped up to Binary ppower levels) flew at and through Collective and it didn't even phase him, he then beat her to the point where she couldn't think or put a sentence together for a minute afterward. Sentry then comes in and carry him into space, punchs him (knocking him back, while Binarys attack did nothing) and then stands toe-to-teo with him for who knows how long (or short) - 8 panels and long enuogh Inronman and Cap to get to the Shield Heli-Carrier. Then he just gets TK'd away, Collective didn't appear to hurt or do any damage to him, just pushed him away. Sentry took on, was doing well against and had to pushed away (not KO'd) by the villian that took on Binary (never mind Ironman and Alpha Flight) without breaking a sweat, and that doesn't show his power level? The fight between Sentry and Collective wasn't long (and I am hoping for a longer rematch) but given what Collective did to other heros it does show Sentry's power level.
Theres only one Return, and it ain't of the King, its of the Jedi.
Sentry is much smarter then Thor (Genius compared to Normal). Strength levels are the same, though in the write-ups Sentry's powers are called limitless while Thor's powers do have limit. They both have the same durability. Thor is faster (faster then light speed compared to the speed of light) however Thor only reachs those speeds (as far as I remember) by throwing Mjolnir and holding onto it, while Sentry can fly/move at his top speed, so while Thor would win the race I think Sentry would move faster in a fight. Thor's energy projection is much higher and it should be, Sentry shouldn't have any at all. Thor is an experience fighter while Sentry is just normal, but Sentry has been out of action for a while and can't remember much of his past.
When talking about "respect", in terms of a fully rounded character with a good, rich history etc... Thor takes it hands down, Sentry is still fairly new. However power level wise, at worst they are about equal at best Sentry is more powerful (Marvel has called him their power mostful hero, and his powers are limitless).

If you look at the first panel . Sentry throws the Collective. Not punches him. And I think the battle shows his durability, not his power level. There's a difference. In terms of power, we haven't seen anything special from the Sentry. In terms of speed and durability, we've seen plenty.

Sentry punchs him in the first collection of panels, then goes at him against in the 2nd collection. And like I said we didn't see much of a fight but given what we've seen Collective do already it certainly shows that Sentry IS a powerful character - the guy took Binary flying straight through him and he didn't flinch, Sentry was strong enough to carry him into space and hit him with enough force to drive him back.
Theres only one Return, and it ain't of the King, its of the Jedi.
The Sentry as the world's most powerful superhero, and with the serum causing a photosynthetic reaction to his body, completely altering his state of consciousness, it is nonetheless conceivable that Sentry's powers are limitless, and may even rival those of the Silver Surfer's and Phoenix's. He has very similar powers to Gladiator and Hyperion. In effect, the Sentry's powers are seemingly limitless
So we can make the comparsions
The Silver Surfer wields "the power cosmic," absorbing and manipulating the universe's ambient cosmic energies. He can augment his strength to incalculable levels, and is almost totally indestructible. He can navigate space, hyperspace and dimensional barriers, and can fly at near-limitless speeds on his board, entering hyperspace when he exceeds light speed
I don't get the doubting of his power levels. I can understand not "respecting" the charater because of his lack of a history when compared to characters like Thor, but his power level isn't in question.

I'm getting bored with New Avengers and Squadron Supreme. In New Avengers, it takes Bendis too long to tell a story, and none of that length adds any flavor. In this issue, we find out something we already knew, what the Collective was. We also see Sentry fly in and do nothing and fly out. That was it. At least it didn't waste time talking in great length about standing around in bad parts of towns to scare away bad folk.
As for Squadron Supreme, I just don't care about the characters at this point. Too many new characters with no background entering into the picture. I really only like Nighthawk at this point, and he's not worth paying $2.99 a month to read about. I've already dropped Squadron Supreme and I'll be dropping New Avengers soon as well.
My only hope is that the Big Lebowski kills me before the Germans can cut my d### off.
