Beautiful art. I think Geoff Johns wrote a decent story in their somewhere, but I was too busy being wowed by George Perez. That man is one of the greats.
I have heard claims that everyone who has ever been a Legion member will be in this book. I'm looking forward to Perez's interpretations of some of the lesser known characters, like Blok or Tellus. And I have been saving my pennies to purchase the original art for his Matter Eater Lad.
If the rest is this good, I'm hoping they release an Absolute version some time in 2009. Perez art is even better in the oversized format.

The Time Trapper is the greatest Legionnaire of them all. Maybe. I can't wait for this book to reach me.
Yes, he is.
Before this sotry the ONLY Legion story that I read was the Crossover by Byrne from the 80's with Superman and Pocket Universe Superboy and a small group of Legion Members. In that story HE is the main Villain and it was a GREAT story.
I also really liked the scene where Leland assassinated RJ, where he became aged too quickly. Of course, that is a handiwork of Time Trapper, like he did to Glorith way back in the Adventure Comics day, where Gorith got aged by Time Trapper for trying to deceive him.
The Original Legion (aged in This book) (also called "action" Legion now). Is the Original Legion that last Until Zero Hour. (this Legion was "altered" several times with Pocket Superboy, Valor in Superboy's place, etc).
The "Second" Legion in Panel Left is the Post Zero Hour "new" Legion that last until Titans-Legion Universe Ablaze.
The 3th Legion is the Current one (with the current Supergirl) . This is the Legion in the panel in the Right. This Legion begins in the end of Titans-Legion Universe Ablaze and is still alive in his current book.
Psst. Some folks have been using spoilers boxes or avoiding - like Carlos has - giving away some big secret likes that.

Nah, first time they appeared as adults was way back in "Adventure Comics #354". (Yes, I'm teasing you a bit). Slightly more seriously, by the time of CoIE and the like, the Legionnaires were all well into early adulthood and they don't seem -too- much older from then as Johns is portraying them.

Well, at the risk of sounding like a Dan Didio apologist, Johns seems to have quite an affection for the bloodbaths himself. With the destruction of Smallville, the Science Police deaths, R.J. Brande's assassination, and over twenty thousand guards and staff killed on Takron-Galtos, issue #1 of this series has already taken us deeply into bloodbath territory. While I doubt Didio had any complaints about the bloodbath, I'll bet the idea didn't come from him, but from Johns.
...now, if we can just get Professor Pyg confirmed.

That may have been the first appearance of the Adult Legion but the Legion members appeared as adults in Action Comics #289 (five years before Adventure #354). Supergirl tries to marry Superman to the future Saturn Woman but it doesn't work out since she's married to Lightning Man. Superman later admits that Supergirl is the ideal wife for him but they can't marry because Kryptonian law fobids cousins to marry (though he points out that it's legal in some Earth countries), so Supergirl finds him a woman on a distant planet who is her exact double.
Yeah, this post was mainly an excuse to mention that creepy story. Gotta love those silver age comics.

And Carlos, didn't you vote that you hated the Legion in my poll?
P.S. That wasn't R.J. who was aged.
I don't remember that!
I repeit: I NEVER read Legion stories. They are not in my Heroclix collection, and LO3W is my FIRST contact with the Legion.
BUT because of LO3W NOW I'm reading the Legion and Superman story that happens not so long time ago in Action Comics.
(It's pretty cool, the story sound like Latin inmigrants in USA. . I know, I know... for sure that was not the idea behin the story, but it feel a little like that to me, lol).
