"What are they?" Nighthawk stammered, as the 4 creatures mades their way around the path towards them.
"They appear to represent the four primal elements: Earth, Air, Fire and Water. I have a feeling we're going to need big green more than me on this one." With that, Bruce ran straight towards a nearby fire spout and dove in.
"Bruce!" Hellcat yelled.
"Fear not." said Valkyrie, as she hefted her sword. "He will be fine."

Give the Elementals +1 to Attack and Defense when in their native environ. (Fire = Hindering, Earth = Clear, Air = Elevated, Water = Water)
Similarly, Elementals perish in opposing terrain.
Give the Elementals -1 to Attack and Defense when in opposing climates. (Fire = Water, Air = Clear, Earth = Elevated, Water = Hindering)
(i'm not sure wether or not Banner gets knocked backed, not that it matters. i realized after i made the attack that the hindering damage is unlikely to be penetrating.)

According to the text on the BC, figures are only knocked back if they are in clear terrain. And yeah, the Inferno damage isn't penetrating (which is why I was happily going to let it activate Hulk), but you did knock me straight past my Charge clicks, which I was counting on to avoid getting knocked around later. Nice move- I wasn't expecting you to push Tornado.
Defenders, Turn 2b:
The flame that Banner ran into intensified as the Fire Elemental flew near, aided by the Air elementals winds.
"GRAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!" Hulk screamed as he appeared through the flames....clearly not happy.
Nighthawk noticed some large slabs of rock, and using his enhanced strength hefted a piece onto his shoulder. "Quick Valkyrie, lets see if we can smother that fire creature."
"A wise strategy." The warrior woman agreed and picked up another slab.
1) Valkyrie picks up the HO from H16 and walks to F12.
2) Nighthawk picks up the HO from I17 and walks to E12.

A: Since these two Battlefield Conditions contradict each other, the players would have a roll off to determine which Battlefield Condition remained in the game. This is a separate roll from the roll to determine which player is Player 1.

Seems to suggest to me that Water terrain is affected by Astral Plane.

my confusion is due to the fact Astral Plane makes hindering clear for movement purposes. is knockback concidered movement?
i just wish that Tornado didn't have just the one click of TK.

I'm going to assume you meant J5 for Water, as that's where you have him on the map and it makes a lot more sense for you than L5 as you have listed (plus it's hard to make out whether its a J or an L on the map). If you actually want him in L5 I'll redo my turn.

2) Nighthawk pushes to attack Fire with the HO. AV of 9 vs DV of 17. Needs an 8. Rolls a 6 (1+5). Miss and the object is gone. No push damage due to Willpower.
