Nah. I'm a dinosaur so maybe "browser based" is what he was meaning.
Okay. So what's the feeling about each person in the supergroup focusing on one character (for play with that group; naturally free to go use another character off on one's own).
I admit mixed but one reason it appeals - besides the fact it'd be fun to be assigned based on personality - is that one of the best times I had on an MMORPG was back on Dark Age of Camelot. One nite a bunch of us who basically all played from the same room decided on a whim that for that nite we'd each take one caster class and specialize and see what happened (they allowed me to be a cleric but I had to put all points in Smite spec so I was still more like a Mage, thus inadvertantly discovering in the first week of the game the awesomeness of a Smiter). It was goofy but we had a blast and kept using those characters more than the ones we originally planned as our Mains. Besides, it might help round out team needs.

Because I'm a cheapskate, what are the freebies? And how much do you have to spend to unlock characters, if anything?
I really don't know how well this works.
There are about 5 free starting characters of which you choose one. Other characters can be acquired by accumulating Eternity Splinters or outright paying (if there's a character you really want that's "purchable", we can work something out).

The 5 opening characters are Storm, Scarlet Witch, Thing, Daredevil and Hulk I think. You get 1 of your choice for free then you unlock a random one after you complete the tutorial. I picked Daredevil and Unlocked Storm.
Thanks. I started with the Marvel Knights pack so I never was given the starting choices (though pretty sure it's Hawkeye, not Hulk). What can I say? I wanted to use the Punisher and have his MAX outfit.
(currently have everyone except Black Widow, Human Torch, Storm and Thing...I think.)

You can equip Colossus with his Acolyte uniform, Emma as White Queen and Jean as Dark Phoenix but as far as full-out traditional villains, none yet. They also don't have all the initially announced heroes up and running either (but still plenty from which to choose).
Anyway, folks want to find me on there, I think my userID is DocPym (sadly a character I doubt we will have as playable as Hank is in the game as the Crafting guru).

There are quests w/bosses (eg: go find the Tablet of Life) and then there are a frequent number of "spontaneous events" (eg: Protect the police barricade or Electro on a rampage; even if you miss the dogpile - and everyone gets loot from it - there'll be another soon enough).
