They were in Yellow, Blue, and Red first and they also came back in Gold/Silver.

I bought Soul Silver, which I believe is just a remake of Silver with some minor alterations.

I suppose I just didn't get far enough to encounter them.

Team Rocket was maybe my favourite part of the toon (though I only watched until roughly the time of the first movie / beginning of second season)...

Thought about watching some more to catch up for this game but I have been out for so long I've no clue what's even the correct order.

Less comic ineptitude, more evil international corporation.

The opening write-up definitely seems more like the show.

In my opinion, SoulSilver and HeartGold are the best games out there. Nothing beats the classics, but as far as playability, content, things to do after the Elite Four, graphics, and story, it is the best. I highly recommend them.

Absolutely seconded. I've played every pokemon game out there, and HG/SS is still my absolute favorite. (The fact that your pokemon follow you around the whole game certainly adds to my bias, though.)

When playing the original G/S, I just really loved the fact that after defeating the Johto league, you moved on and played through the original (Kanto). You also had to defeat Red, who was incredibly difficult, making it seem like there was more to the game than just defeating the Pokemon Leauge (because really, how many of us had the sole objective of completing the Poke'dex when playing).

With Soul Silver, I leveled up my Pokemon through the added Pokemonitor. Every day you could level them so much with that and then catch Pokemon too. Now that I think about it. Perhaps spending more time on that than the actual game is why I never got very far.

I still have it, maybe I'll dust it off during Christmas break.

If it's the show then I'll at least know my stuff, well up to the whole Marick and Pink bulldog era.
