There's some decent budget decks that can actually be pretty competitive. A Palpatine deck just made top 8 of a regional and it had zero legendaries aside from Palp himself. But yea, a lot of the high level competitive decks can get up there. Still nothing compared to Magic, but hey. You can definitely do it if you just focus on 1 deck, but that can get boring.
I really enjoy the game right now. I got in right after the Kylo/Rey 2PG came out. My first tourney experience was getting massacred by Kylo/FN before the rules changes. I was like "wow this game sucks." But after the rules update it has really gotten good. So much out there is winning, and there are so many decks that are "Fun" but can do really well. I like it a lot.
I went into today's home-game extravaganza with an overall record of something like 3-11. I made a deck in ten minutes . . . and went 5-0. I'm gonna brag while I have the chance.
The deck (30/30) was:
ePhasma
Bala-tik
Dark Advisor
Battlefield -- Dry Fields: Atollon
Cards that really came through for me were
--Fang Fighter (at 3 Resources, with Ambush and no resource-eating die sides, this support seems one Resource undercosted)
--Aftermath (combos wonderfully with Bala-tik)
I went 3-0 against:
Luminara
Wookiee Warrior
Rebel Trooper
. . . and a fair number of Focusing supports to get Luminara on her special. This plan should have worked, except the Wookiee was a pacifist. Worst combat rolls (and rerolls, and re-rerolls) I've ever seen. The opponent was a great sport, and by the end we were joking about his Wookiee accountant who got forced into combat.
I went 2-0 against:
Jar Jar
Rey 24
Han 46
. . . and a nice array of shield shenanigans for Rey.
The second game here was very close, and a hoot. It ended with a lightsaber- and pistol-wielding Jar Jar (he also had some cool Ability upgrade I've forgotten) being knocked out by a Dark Advisor sitting in a Pirate Speeder Tank holding a lightsaber in each hand, with a blaster sticking out of his big purple hat.

Nice write up. It's funny to think about some of the characters actually running around with the weapons you can equip them with in this game.
Anyone play on Table Top Simulator? Nothing compares to playing real life Destiny - but to get some quick practice games in I will hop on TTS and play some every other day or two.
Love that writeup. When I do my league play on Saturday I'll have to report in a similar manner. Which should be fun considering I'm doing my Thrawn/Vader deck.
And I'll even have my custom playmat for it too! Hehehehe.
Vader/Thrawn is a deck I have been looking at. I haven't seen anybody playing it, but it massacres the opponent's hand, and you can ramp up into some big cost upgrades pretty quick - not to mention 25 static health to get through, not included any healing/rise again you might include. I think it has potential.

What are you running in it Mal?
Keep in mind this is a Limited build, so only 1 Legendary/6 Rares in the main deck.
Battlefield: Jedi Temple/Coruscant
Maul's Lightsaber
Lightsaber
Immobilize
Vibroknife
Makashi Training
Force Throw
Shoto Lightsaber
Dug In
Rise Again
Nowhere to Run
Mind Trick
It Will All Be Mine
Three Steps Ahead
We Have Them Now
Trust Your Instincts
Unyielding
Pulling the Strings
Doubt
Imperial Might
Lightsaber Pull
Defend
Closing the Net
Collateral Damage
Dive
Sound the Alarm
Superior Position
Deflect
Enrage
Isolation
Dark Scheme
Also thinking of running EThrawn/2 Battle Droids since his focus dice can really allow for some silliness to happen.

Yea I love Thrawn. He's one of my favorite characters to field. His hand control and information gain for free is so good, but that double focus side and double resource side is just bonkers.
I built and test-drove a eThrawn/eBib Fortuna deck last night, and I think I'm in love. I am usually a high-damage person, so this one was a massive change of pace. But it is an absolute monster for Buy Out and Crime Lord ... I look forward to rolling it more! :-)
As a general question, what kinds of decks (not particular characters/cards, but strategy) eat your lunch the most?
I have had the most trouble with "Mess with Yo' Dice" decks, especially blue-heavy ones. Remove my dice, blank out my dice, Guardian my dice, turn my dice against me . . .
Next would probably be money mill/high-cost, high-damage Support decks.
'Kim2099, do you like playing Limited? I think the idea is a good one, but haven't tried it.
Love it, actually.

I hate Sabine aggro decks.

For some reason I can almost never beat Palpatine. I mean I beat him sometimes, but it seems like he's always giving me a loss at our locals. Last week we played themed Light VS Dark side basically. I used Yoda/Chewie. Only loss was to "naked Palp", which is Palp with no upgrades but the one that lets you reroll a die back into pool and the rest is basically all removal/healing. For some reason I hate playing against him.
