yeah elementals are awesome. Harjel is totally cool and even if they get a limb blown off the armor gets all cold to preserve the arm until after the battle for reattachment! Has anyone read test of vengeance. That really shows how powerful elementals can be, in the book there is a scene where a single elemental takes out an atlas!
get me if im wrong but doesnt five elementals equal the value of one mech. If these things were in dark age they would have some pretty mean stats.

I've got that book, and it rocks! What scares me is that Jake could single-handedly take down an elite Combine Atlas, but took three tries to take a petite chick with a sword and two times to take down Fletcher..and he didn't even kill Fletcher! Gah! James Cobb had to!
Then again, that's a wierd book. We've got a solo Elemental taking down an Atlas, 3 Elemental Novas taking a Combine Warship, and the Amazing Almost-Immortal Elemental, Star Commander Kris (No word of a lie-she dies in the Warship attacks, then is killed again by one of Kahn Fletcher's Gnomes).
Anywho, screw the Elemental! I remeber a custom design created called the Iron Golem Battle Armor, like a Kanazuchi on steriods. Could take a direct hit from an AC20, get up, dust himself off and continue to fight. Sounds like the PERFECT BA for the Highlanders.
And, the JF Elementals had to do some SERIOUS modification to fit Kai in.
Sgt.Coconut is right. Clan Battle Armor and elementals are two different types of armor, no matter what some novel says. TRO:Darkage lists the history and stats for CBA, as previously listed by Sgt.Coconut.

Perfect for HL my ###, they use Infiltrator MkIs.
At any rate, Test of Vengence was a weird story, but then again many of the novels have Elementals doing unbelievable things that can't really be factored in to a standard CBT game. Lincoln Osis single-handedly defeated and killed an Adder pilot in augmented combat for his bloodname. That is more of a feat than beating an Atlas (Atlas = slow, Adder does not. They both have same head armor either way)
The Clan Battle Armor is the Elemental of 3050 era. It was written as such in the small tech readout in the Ghost War Novel. The arguement about the Elemental suits having to be bigger is false also because in the CBT books, one of the Blood of Kerensky books, Kai Allard Liao, who is small in stature, wore an Elemental suit and fought very effectively in it. So I would assume any normal sized person or Clan Elemental sized person would be able to wear CBA's, Gnomes BA's or Salamander BA's.
That assumption is somewhat incorrect. A single person CAN be fitted into one, but the suit must be laboriously fitted to suit the warrior. Not something the efficiency-minded Clans are much into.
Besides, K.A. Liao can practically spit and take out a dozen Invader Clanners.
Today's "CBA" is a cheaper, but less versitle, version of the classic Elemental. They are designed for use by anyone, Trueborn or Freeborn.
Only according to Wizkids’ fluff, actually. The actual cost of a Clan B.A. point is 300,000 more than an Elemental point.

Elementals in the true sense would have crazy stats.
In a game like this, who knows? Weapons in the same exact models sport differing ranges, damages, and accuracy, despite almost uniform targeting devices.

Trothkin, you still have to be in peak physical shape to handle one of those buggers ;-
Agreed. It’s like the NFL: same padding, same uniform, and the bigger guys will usually win. :p

However, it’d move 1/3 the speed of the Elemental WITHOUT Jumpjets, be incapable of swarming and leg attacks, and wouldn’t be able to hitch a ride on an allied OmniMech. So to get anywhere, it’d have to be towed by a vehicle… but wait! True Clanners don’t USE vehicles!

Only if they use it to upgrade their pitiful garrison on Northwind. ;)

Maybe not as crazy as you think. It’d be possible for him to leap off a building onto it, surprise him in some woods, and so forth. All he needs is a lot broken terrain, so that he gets lot of nice hiding spots. ;)
When they release the GBs as a faction they should make a point of Elementals, each w/ a different name and different stats, and it could be like "Command point" and have Jake Kabrinski as the Star Captain. They should also release Hell's Horses and give them crazy good Gnomes. Same for Fire Mandrill and Salamander BA.
Clan Battle Armor is MANNED by the Elemental Phenotype, but it is NOT the Elemental Battle Armor. Is there something confusing about this? Please refer to the first page for a basic summarization of the Classic BattleTech- Record Sheets: MechWarrior: Dark Age readout.
It WOULD be possible to convert the clan-style battle armor to normal specs, but it would require customization by hand. Not efficient, and it would be cheaper to order regular Inner Sphere battle armor. Unless none could be had, of course.
