I'm with Morcego - I hate the Kurita sculpts. I'm a DF player that is glad to see no DF/HK alliance simply because I hate the Kurita sculpts and don't want to play them.
I also agree with Susano - That ability is an excellent ability if used wisely. Playing Wahab in his mech with the Shiro+pilot can make the Shiro even scarier. Just play Wahab a few inches in front of the Shiro and there will be no way the opponent can get a shot at the Shiro. This virtually guarantees the Shiro 2 shots on any incoming mech before they get to return fire.
anyone thought of taking this guy and yami in a larger scale game? use nothing but blocking terrain and put evade or decoy on wahabi, then decoy on yami (it is a heavy right?) park both behind it and make enemies come to you. with yami's no where to hide ability and wahabi's one to make him the target instead...this couold lead to some deadly fun. especialy to units with out streaks. make them target wahabi indrect vs 23 w/ decoy or 25 (evade) even if they do hit they are doing a max of two damage and the reactive armor soaks that right up, unless they have AP.

[whine]Man, I hate it when this happens (see post 10).[/whine]
I dunno, whaddaya got to do to get some recognition around here??? :p j/k
I've just been exploring the potential for huge damage by installing Improved Myomer and using the Faction Pride card. This is a scary combination, people - potentially 10 damage in one turn? That's enough to tear through most light mechs and many tanks...
While I do like the way that the HK 'mechs are sculpted to look like samurai, I do not under stand why this scult holds it's katana upside down. Aparantly the pilots of these things have seen to many bad ninja movies and do not know how to properly use a sword.
On a side note: House Kurita must die!!!
So with the Wahab its 149 points has a 12 speed, 20 def with Reactive, and a 10? starting attack, 11 for sure when out of armor. Wahts the staring damage on this thing? With the damage faction pride Kurita gets this could be a bit nasty.
Doesn't look all that bad from the side view.
On that note did anyone else notice that they took off the rotaion option for the previews now?
however, tournament players may find his Noble Sacrifice ability lacking:
*facepalms*
I can think of so many ways to abuse this ability. This thing really really worries me badly.
For example... run 2-3 mechs. Go baselock target mech or whatever with agility equipped unit or units. Put Fusi with evade in range behind blocking (or just behind the mechs that just baselocked the target). Going to shoot? Forced to shoot Fusi's idiotically high defense via indirect fire. +3 defense. Evade gear? +2 more. Shooting out of melee, +2. Etc. Dont have AP? You do no damage anyway even if you do hit. Otherwise, you have to melee agility equipped mechs and they laugh, take their 1 (or 0 if they have heavy or hardened) and beat your ###. You could break and run... but nothing to stop him from just repeating process.
Sure, maybe HK wont have anything to take advantage of it. Maybe. Or maybe they will. But not everyone plays faction pure.

Yep. Move over BR, DF, and SC - there's a new uber faction in town and it's
called House Kurita. :ermm:

Note the wording: Ranged combat attack. Read the rulebook where is defines legal targets of a ranged combat attack (if you cannot draw a line of fire to a target, it is not a legal target of a ranged combat attack...p. 23). An "Indirect fire ranged combat attack" would be a different type of ranged combat attack altogether, IMO, as defined on p. 24. So if you declare a ranged combat attack, I wouldn't allow Wahab ability to change it into an Indirect Ranged Combat Attack, since he's an illegal target of the initial attack you declared.
But even beyond that (assuming you disagree with that admitted interpretation), you can't make indirect fire attacks at all while you are based. So your specific example fails a bit. The notes about basing, evade, and called shot still apply, though. But frankly, at this point your opponent has spent somewhere around 300+ points at the minimum to pull this off...points that you have most likely spent on tricks of your own. And it's so easy to negate (base wahab with a throwaway infantry, and suddenly he's an illegal target since you can't fire out of and into base contact, for example).
House Davion/Swordsworn have the best pilots in the game. The Duke is without peer (any medium mech becomes solid when you put him inside), and the light mech common pilot is pretty darn good as well. I wouldn't complain too much, if I were you.
