On the Gold Coast EB is the only place (storewise) that sells MK, my venue is the other place. However, EB have stopped stocking anything up here even boosters. No one on the Coast plays much though so it probably wasn't worth their while to get them, for a while though they were selling so fast that EB couldn't keep up :( those were the days.
Up here in MA, Toys R' Us seems to only carry HeroClix (and the one in Danvers only started to stock them 2 weeks ago). Electronic Boutique and local games stores are where I do my MK shopping. Also I just discovered the Walden's Books in the Square One Mall has a sizable stock of Sinister and Dungeons (if anyone in MA is interested, it's with the Sci-Fi books in the back of the store close to the kiddie books). Back to EB, I go to two malls usually that both have EB's. One always has Unlimited and a couple Sinister while the other has never had MK since Whirlwind (and for awhile, that and the former store were the only places that carried Whirlwind at MSRP). Also the former store recently discovered a case of UNOPENED REBELLION BOOSTERS:D.! Slowly those are making their way to the shelves.
theres a store in my town that sells rebellion boosters for $7 or 8 (i cant remeber) while unlimited and sinister are $5, but sinister is impossilbe to find here, its always sold out, oh well guess ill keep buying unlimited and countine my streak of uniques(4 boosters, 1 starter-5 unlimited uniques) one booster had 2 uniques in it though.
Don't forget Software Etc. They sell MK too. The one near me has all the castle pieces, siege packs, the RLD, and tons of every single booster ever made ($7 each for all except Sinister, which are $6) plus Rebellion and Unlimited starters. They also carry a ton of HC as well.
My local (kinda..) EBX (what is the X for???) sells HC and MK, and hopefully MechWarrior...but they hardly ever have much MK, just the Big Figs (Dragons, Castles...) and like 6 Sinister boosters...they have a lot of HeroClix (boosters, Premier, Starter...), but no Sentinels.
Then my even closer Game Shop sells everything MK and HC and soon to be MW. Just I'm gonna get all my MW at EBX because the boosters aren't behind the counter, so I can squeeze them to see if they have uniques....:D....and they don't care because they don't know jack-shizit about the game (well one asked me if I had gotten the guy on the picture of a booster yet :D).
I hope that mage knight doesnt reach mainstream because then there would be a bunch of idiots playing it that would be too easy to beat, waiiiite hehehe.
Why not have MK go mainstream? If it did, then it would be easier to find a booster and there would be more opponents to challenge. As far as those "idiots" go, just consider them "practice dummies" :D.
I've seen boosters at Babbages, EB, and even Meijer. For those of you who don't know what Meijer is, Meijer is one of those super deluxe department/grocery stores. Kind of like a Wal-Mart Supercenter. Over at Meijer, they only sell boosters in packs of two (2 booster= $13.95) which are enclosed in clear wax boxes to prevent tampering. I've recently seen them selling Rebellion and Dungeons.
When it comes to getting my boosters, I simply go to my local venue (where I also play Mage Knight). Support your local venue. That's all I'm saying.
In Washington State, USA I have found Mage Knight at EB (low quantity but the only place that seems to still have Sinister packs), Wizards of the Coast, and Game Stop (formerly Software etc.). I have also found them in local non-chain game stores (Tacoma's Dark Tower and Game Matrix). Prices are very consistent in all places. The best prices I have found are on EBay where you can large lots of boosters from ###C for decent prices. I prefer to support my local game stores where possible, though, so I buy first from them then from the bigger chain stores.
i agree with Armen if it hit mainstream it make a ton of idiot play it + in normal tourny we will 10 round(if not more than that) just to win 1 dang whirlwind lvl4 LE.
Popularity is a double edged sword. As the game gains wider distribution it will gain a broader audience of both good and bad players. This will make for larger tournements, but I suspect the level of play you will see will remain the same you are used to now, but the size of the tournements will be much larger. This is what happened with M:TG in the early-mid 90's. The payoff is that the product's popularity will allow Wiz Kids to invest more time and money into the game making it a more expansive product. Given the quality I have seen in the Conquest and Sinister stuff I think this is a good thing.
I would like MK to go mainstream as here it is very difficult to find players. Our group used to total 8 now no one plays at all as there isn't enough of us.
