I wouldn't be focusing on Lancers since it is so hard to get good figs. (I have pulled maybe one KI mounted out of possibly a dozen boosters). Whirlwind has lots and lots of good stuff. With good distribution, and HEAVY unique distribution.

lancers = a good expansion, but the fig distribution is not that good :( too many yellows :(
whirlwind = a good one too and you also get some decent mounted figs, just be careful of the shyfts :)

I like Lancers but the unique distribution is poor. I had great luck getting uniques with Whirlwind. In any event, someone on these boards recently bought a case of Lancers and got 3 Techuns.

NOTE: about your broken sword, I have always found that super-glue works great. They make a Super-Glue pen that is SO accuret* when your doing quick fixes or something at a Venue or something. It works for me

super glue is a Godsend in minature games

I personally LOVE lancers. You get a mounted in every booster, and I've gotten some good non pulls from them.

I like Lancers A LOT more than Whirlwind. You may be better off buying the singles and uniques from that set though. The Distribution is horrible. Techun is great, still one of my favorite uniques. The High Elf General rocks, Lich, Arcane Draconum, The KI mounteds are great, Fell Reapers, Elfs-At-Arms. Great set.

The funny thing is, a lot of people hated Lancers originally. But I belive that all changed when they changed the Charge and Bound rules. I may be wrong, I'm just getting back into the game after a year or so.

id go with whirlwind, why? so you dont get too many KI and thaaattt way when it comes to playing as KI you will have a better chance of loosing for them which is a good thing =P

ummm we also seem to have forgotten taskmaser, Goblin Volunteers, Tribal Brutes, Elf at Arms, Longbow Archers, Scorpem gunners, HEG..... lots of good stuff in Lancers.

i go for the whirlwind nice distribution.in lancers its hard to pull good mounteds...

Lancers all the way.

Both are good sets. Unless you are particularly fond of a certain faction I'd get some of both. Lancers is definately a good set for KI.

If I saw both in a store i would have to flip a coin. They were both excelent sets.
