Im hoping Shyft/Magespawn will be an available faction for this (its the third one isn't it?) Faction War. I also hope that this unique is much more useful than the last, I haven't even considered, nor do I think I ever will, playing Maleficius.
Maybe the new figs will bring some more lovin to the losing factions (i.e. the beatstick known as Raydan Marz)
Originally posted by litedragon The requirements for all previous battles have been that the figure must have the symbol prior to being deployed onto the battlefield.
All the previous Mage Knight faction wars have only required a single figure (whose faction determines the faction you are playing for). The rest of the army has been from a Sealed pull.
Indeed, it's likely those are the rules for this, since the event is listed as "sealed."
Unfortunately, I'll be working WWE, as will all the Warlords in Delaware. So, we aren't going to have any faction wars because of the scheduling.

This is what I DON'T LIKE.
I really wish they would limit it to faction pure or Faction with MS mixed in. I just don't like the thought of a faction winning with hardly any of that faction being present in an army.
The first faction war was like that DBlizzard. But the second was 300 points of faction-pure constructed, and 200 points of sealed booster pulls. If I remember correctly, you could use less than 300 and therefore use more of the sealed, but there was a minimum you had to bring constructed, I think.

That's right. IIRC, those rules were so late in coming, we spent more time assuming the rules would be like the first than the actual rules.
Still, whichever variation they use, it will certainly be some percentage of sealed.
Originally posted by litedragon I'm loving this, faction-pure AC.
Draddog stated in the ask KevinG thread that the AC would be an LE version of one of the ACs in boosters.
I think this is GREAT!
here's why:
With theearlier faction wars, people wanted the sweet sweet prizes, so they'd play whatever was the most powerful, first time around, it was unique+relic and then booster pulls, Kossak was one of the best figures to combo with, so the DC won. The second time, it was 200 points + booster pulls. Dracs won.(chroma was available)
this time, however, people aren't playing for awesome prizes, they're playing to help the future of their faction. BPR fans, EF fans, EL fans, AE fans, it's time to fight for your faction. someone's missing out on a unique in the next set, make sure it's not your faction!
I just hope this faction wars is based on wins and not # of players for each faction.
should be interesting to see what a different motivation will do to the results.
If they do this like the first faction war (one unique and a relic for them) then I see the following factions with clear leads in the polls
Drac - Vith/Pathis
Sol - Trix/Vextha/Dehia
AE - Rayden
DC - Malfy/Kossak/Aeredon
Shyft - Domina
however if its done like FW 2 (300 point straight faction, then 2 boosters to build another 200 points). Then the leaders change to
Drac
Orc
Sol
AE
DC
Finally if it does end up being like the MW FW (1200 point army, play with 500 points. Units that die in battle can not be used in future matches. Refill 500 points as you play.) Then all bets are off, though this gives the AE and OK a slight leg up since they have tone of cheap disposable units with which they can refill their ranks with.
I for one am hoping for the second of thrid variations.
Hmm... I did hope/wish for a faction pure AC. I'm a bit disappointed in that the prizes won't be such. I thought this would have (finally) been a way to give players who are die hard supporters of pure faction play a little bit of a nod. I understand why they are doing things the way they are, but I'm still disappointed.
But, since there really isn't too much incentive in winning, in terms of prizes, I do hope that everyone will play for the faction they trully support and representation will be more even.
Lastly, I hope they determine the winner through percentage of win/loss. Though that methoid might not be entirely fair either. But it might be slightly better than by overall number of wins.
I hope it's like the first one. At the last faction wars, the tournemant was won by rampaging Sky dragons. With three of those running around, there was really no single unique to stop them. People wanted the powerful domains like Dragons Gate and The Fist, so they loaded up on beatsticks like Chroma or Rava and went for it. This time it's to prove the superiorty of your faction. This of course means the Apocalypse will win.:D It's a lot more fun to play over old rivalries, and not play with a faction you hate just to get their super-duper prize.

This is AWESOME!!!
You're being sarcastic, right?
Taken another way, this would mean, "Ha! Since the other players are now discouraged from playing their factions, our faction wins again!" Bleah. :(
I want faction-only AC cards, like the last faction wars. Come on, is that too hard to do, WK? :(
Note to self: Must rally support for any faction other than the Draconum to win this faction war. :D :D :D

Hard to do? Maybe not.
However, faction pure Adventuring Company cards definitely go against the basic spirit of adventuring companies. The cards are meant to bring back the original spirit of Mage Knight, which is those mixed groups of adventurers out to make their way in the world.
Yeah, I agree that the AC's should stay mixed faction. But I think that having AC's as prizes does go a bit against the spirit of a Faction War. Play for one faction and win a prize to help you play mixed? Hmm..
But the group prizes/risks are very good. With the prizes not being so exclusive, people will more likely play for the faction that they truly support.
So good things and one bit of nitpicking. All in all, I hope the rules for the War will be unique and interesting.
