I understand what the original poster is talking about. It's jsut nicer to have and play with foil versions. It makes the cards seem better, because they're more valuable (and hypnotically shiny in some cases).
Originally posted by Batshido The Foils I play with all wind up curved. I think it has to do with heat expansion and the composite nature of the materials.
That all just means that I shuffle too fast. :)
Well actualy if it where heat expansion it would take back it's form after shuffling, unleast it reaches plastic deformation, which should be in the 700-900K for Aluminium alloys.... Furthermore if it where thermic expension the foil side of you card would be in the outside of the card (i.e. outside of the round surface)
I sugest humidity to be the main factor as the thin layer of 'foil' always curls up in the interior of the card (i.e. Foil inwards)
My condo is maybe slightly above room temperature, so I don't see that affecting the curving much, however, it is more dry than Death Valley in there. (I have a humidifier running 24/7 in my bedroom, just so I can breathe at night. That's not where my cards are kept, though.)
I didn't think humidity would affect it as much as temperature.
Screw foils. They warp like hell and need to be replaced or flattened out with the King James every month. Screw "foiling out" decks, too. It's a pretentious display held over from Yu-Gi-Oh dicks that like to flaunt their $30 cards.

Which way do they curve?
It is entirely possible that it has an effect. They should bend toward the foil for High and away for Low. At least that's what my physics minor is telling me. ;)
heck my avengers is almost foil and when all my cards are foil i usually win on 5, and my faces is almost foil as well, its like what!!! ea dr.light i get to bring a 4 drop into play jus cause how good he looks lol
