That I did. I was actually one place lower than the requirement for a playmat, but one of the higher-ups opted for a deck tin instead (wtf?) so I got a mat.

Fast Fact: So far, I have won every game where I managed to say "Shazam!".

I say the card, looked for the once per turn, then I cried.

No once per turn.

I wanted to rub my friends face in &^*( when he recruited Shazam. I can see it now:

Him: Recruit BILLY WATSON @ SHAZAM EARTH"S MIGHTEST HERO AND SAVIOUR OF KINGDOM COME.
Me: Do you pass?
Him: Yes, prepare for the strike of justice.
Me: Sure, Straight to the Grave...Slaughter Swamp...Scarecrow. Start of combat???

Damn you ude for not making another character Scarecrow makes his b&*## (looking at you nimrod).

Well, he does have to discard to use the effect, so it's not quite as easy as just saying Shazam.

What happens if your opponent is mute? Is sign language legal? (I shot all my opponents a bird just in case.)

It is not the one from the playmat, I did not see the card. The playmat Captain Marvel is an 8-drop. I got it in foil. It says pay 25 endurance, win the game.

Dude, at my DCR pre-release, whenever someone played that card, they bellowed SHAZAM!!!! at the top of their lungs. I love that card and want a full playset :) of it.

PS: But then again, who plays Revenge Squad at all? And who runs Kryptonites? Exactly. SHAZAM!!!

I was just pointing out that, from my admittedly twisted fanboy perspective, it just doesn't make any sense.

I certainly didn't mean to imply that it was an imminent threat to his playability. ;)

Hey Batshido, did you like the Batman in the set? Or any of the other GK cards?

Man, they make 6 drop Shazam, but they don't make any backwards talking requirement for Zatanna?

The new Batman is ok, I guess. Nothing too exciting. In a GK deck, he basically reads "Activate-> Replace Target Non-Team-Up Resource." That's all well and good, but he's definitely not the best GK 4 Drop in Golden. Probably not even in the top 4. Same could basically be said for Silver too, so, meh.

The 6 Drop Huntress is pretty cool. I could see it finding a spot in Golden Age Curve. Plus, it would give me a reason to run Batcave. :)

The 2 Drop Ragman is HOT. He may just give GK the early game they need to stand up to Faces and Squadron.

Mourn For the Lost is kinda dissappointing, as my current Sig kind of implies. In a deck with a tight resource row, it may actually be a little better than Detective Work. Honestly, though, that's not saying that much.

I'm actually more excited about the new possiblities for My Beloved (my primary Golden Age Deck since DOR). The new Talias are awesome. A 5 Drop that lets me play Alfreds for free every turn? Yes, Please. :) The 2 Drop will help My Beloved Curve, since it has a nice body- even if the effect is somewhat negligible.

All in all, I'd say I was fairly pleased. It still erks me a little that I can't find a decent reason to play Batman in a mono GK deck. :ermm:

But, we play the hand we're dealt, I guess. :)

Yeah, good point. That should somehow only effect Superman. I'm a fanboy too, and that's waaaaaaaaay too inaccurate. Here's how it would go in the comics:

Luthor: Marvel, you may have the upper hand, but you can't beat my secret weapon! Behold! Kryptonite!

its gonna make you look silly if you play outside a hobby shop (we sometimes play in a coffee house), but its enough to make any comic book geeks heart race!
