NO. I would rather have the FAQ document like we have had in the past. That way there is no dispute during a tourney. If its not listed roll off for it.
Not everybody has access to a computer on a regular basis and this would give an unfair advantage to those who have access 24/7. They would wait until some move/attack was done and then say it was illegal using the video as their reference. The attacker would have no knowlegde of it and get ticked off for the rest of the tourney or walk out.
The only think I hope they do is reply within 48 hours to questions submitted to the RA. Then every 2 weeks after a new set comes out post those FAQ's with answers.
Then going to once a month for the 2nd & 3rd month after a set is released.

It's a good point you make... but if the video is released a week or two before the set's marquee tourney that gives the computerless person a chance to go take a look at the video.
I think its a case of whether or not the kid wants to go to a friends house or library to see the video... it might actually cause the game to grow because more people would see it.
I agree that the questions have to be answered pretty darn quickly if it is to work.
Just for the record. I never said get rid of the regular FAQs... In fact I see video media as another delivery system of the FAQs.
They say the best weapon is one you never have to fire. I respectfully disagree. I prefer the weapon you only have to fire once. That's how Dad did it, that's how America does it, and it's worked out pretty well so far." Robert Downey/Tony Stark
It is true that you can't print out a YouTube video.
I agree... but in the next few years everyone is probably going to have a freakin kindle.(ala batman beyond.) maybe video downloads will be possible on a device like that one day.

Er, no, I don't, actually. I think your idea has some merit for introductory videos. However, rules arbitration is a whole different kettle of fish. Really, twenty pages is too complex? I think the rules are actually simpler than they have been, special powers notwithstanding.
Yup, you got me. When I'm not stealing candy from babies, I love running over handicapped people with my truck. VROOM VROOM!
Maybe if you had couched your argument like that in the first place, you might have gotten a little less sarcastic a response from me. As it is, I just think you're a jerk for playing that card in response to an obvious jest. And you might say you don't care, but the fact that you decided to get that pissy seems to indicate you do.
So by all means, get Norm or a new RA to put up some "How to play Clix" videos on the WK website. I think that would be a great idea. But having ALL the rules on the internet only... which, news flash, not everyone can access? Bad idea.
I daresay you'd restrict more people by going net/web rules only than the way it currently is.
Dude, I dont even know you.
All I saw was that you came mockingly into a conversation that might have some merit. I do appreciate your constructive criticism on this post. My motivation is to help the game grow by having the resources that could very likely do so if the great rules of the game could be delivered in an additional way. that's it. If heroclix was played as much as yugioh or magic then I dont think we would have ever seen any of the problems we saw.
I dont care that you disagree w/me but you seem to aim to dis people.... That's disrespectful but I do forgive you. I just hope that you treat others better.

Yeah I walked into right into that one. Thanks for brightening the evening.

I think rules clarifications on YouTube could work on a case-by-case basis. Say for those questions where a visual aid would be helpful.
That is a great point. That could save money.
What I envisioned is where the rulings of procedural/stepwise/placement/modified line of fire activities could be demoed on the video. Maybe quickly mention the rest of the rulings ala powerpoint style delivery w/a quick reading if the ruling was sufficiently self explanatory. Maybe they are needed maybe they are not. I feel that if a complete copy is there is less of a chance that something is missed if the player only goes to one source.... but there is less work involved.
I see what you are saying about a cases by case basis.. for access/search reasons, would you have them use different videos on Youtube or would you lump them all together?

Seeing the title of this thread reminded me of a Monsterpocalypse "LOLpocalypse" picture...
I should have written arbitration results on thread title. it was late...
Hair, Norm, did you guys used to have to fly to WK to make rulings on each faq? I imagine it was over the phone or video conference.

I haven't checked every response, but it seems to have an "either/or" flavor around here. Is there any reason we can't have both?
F'r instance: a question comes up about the Bifrost Bridge. Norm (as theoretical RA) chimes in with his thoughts, and a well-typed reason for those thoughts. Maybe an additional comment of, "Need something more visual? Click on <this link to YouTube/Bifrost> to see how it works!"
It's not like every question would warrant a video, so there's that much less of a hassle. Maybe Norm could "farm out" the videos to a team of well-known players like Quebbster, Hair10 and Munchoboy on a rotating basis. For this question, Munchoboy and his Vermont Volunteers could make the film; next time Hair and his crew and so on. This will split up the work involved, so that no one person is overwhelmed.

I'm cool with with your suggestion. I agree that not everything would warrant an indvidual video. The complete FAQs could show up kind of like end credits of the particular video(s). I figure they are already going to be typed up. Might as well have them in one place. They dont have to look like the end credits of JJ Abrams' Star Trek. A simple font with a simple background is all that is necessary for easy to understand FAQs
If wizkids or Norm want to farm out some clix rulings sure... why not? To tell you the truth I dont even know if they even support this idea. but I'd sure like to know.
A person could choose to print them out ala pdf, save them on the computer or watch them on a video. A part of the work would have to be done already because the pdfs need to be typed up too.
I'd just like to include stuff to video like event dials that might have a bunch of steps... My motivation is that I actually want to see more tourneys with event dials for the matches... they are a lot of fun but they usually get ruled out because no one else has even dared to try them before.
Typically this set of rules are hard to understand alone verbally, However they can be relatively a piece of cake if one watches a few rounds of a game played with said event/bfc.
I think it might be fun to play a ragnarok or no man's land regional tourney. (like the old wizard world days)

Why don't you start making Youtube videos clarifying rulings where you think a visual aid would help?
Rules arbitration on Youtube and Youtube only is a bad idea. If they are going to have to produce the printed documents, then why pay someone else to make a video presentation?
How many rulings do you think that there are that would benefit from a video demonstration, anyway?
The "one day we might all have personal kindle devices" or whatever argument doesn't work, by the way... One day we might be able to have the Heroclix rules transferred directly to our brains, but it doesn't mean that they should spend time or money figuring out what they will do at that time now.
The only thing that NECA created Youtube videos does is take money away from NECA, making Heroclix less profitable, while offering very dubious returns.
