You know, I hate the fact that your using ectoplasmer. I'm currently constructing an ectoplasmer deck (I made it a few months ago and now I'm updating it) and I wanted my deck to be the only one really utilizing such an effective and underrated card. Anyway, have you ever thought of using Malice doll of Demise to actually get some damage flowing out of your ectoplasmer? Your opponent could make a killing off of the damage he pulls from ecto. You'd only need one Malice Doll as you could pull it from the your deck with DDCapsule and if they destroy it what have you really lost? It's especially important because, as you said, once you get the "lock" going, they can't stop it. Why not net a cool 800 points of damage each turn?
Also, I think you should (if you haven't already) sidedeck a couple of Kycoo and another Giant Trunade. When you come up against a deck using Phoenix or V-Lord, you can use Trunade to scuttle your own ectoplasmer and Kycoo to prevent revival. Also, drop your last Gravity Bind for Messenger of peace. I fail to see why you shouldn't use three. It's a magic (immune to Jinzo/Decree), and it's optional so when you need to lay down some beatdown, you can choose not to pay. :noid:
regeki404: The whole problem with including Malice Doll of Demise is that even though it is 800 points of damage and it fits the deck theme of not being around on the opponent's turn it seems a little too conditional for my blood. I'll playtest one, but I doubt that it will make the final version of this deck.
Darkblood: Didn't you recently post that the deck needed more S/T removal? How would you build a deck of this archetype?
I wonder... Lava Golem is an inherit two for one advantage the only reason why it isn't used like Pot of Greed is because it tends to smack people around. If it is used in conjuction with the Golem Sentries that you have suggested then it becomes a two for nothing advantage AND an alternate win condition. That might make the final build.
GameMaster: The main reason why I am not running three Messenger of Peace isn't because I hate it or because I don't have enough (I've got 18 foils and 8 commons) it is because I am anticipating a rise in the use of Don Zaloog and elemental searcher monsters. Those get under the Messenger of Peace and the last thing this deck needs is to have a Don Zaloog breathing down it's neck.
Thank you for the suggestion of more Giant Trunades and Kycoo. I was thinking about either Dark Core or Soul Release since the Phoenix just pisses me off that much. Maybe side some DD monsters...
Feel free to post varient versions of this deck or decks like this on this thread. Variety is a good thing.
Don't forget about a common threat to MoP and LLA-B. Silent Magician LV 5 and Horus LV 6. Those both get around spells. Grav bind gets stopped by Jinzo and Decree, but it still does stop a few other things.
Sounds like variety in deck options is a good idea. Therefore, maybe sidedecking some of the stall cards so the deck can swap out for more appropriate stalling options.
In another game called magic the gathering there was a card called Cowardice. It was a very powerful card that helped a deck full of weaker creatures survive and eventually win the game. In yugioh there is a parallel card: Bottomless Shifting Sands.
For those of you who don't know, it is a permanent trap that destroys the highest attack monster on the field at the end of the opponent's turn. Then, during your stand-by phase if you have four or less cards in your hand it self destructs. :devious:
This deck uses bottomless shifting sand and ectoplasmer to clear the opponents' field and wreck havoc with monsters that avoid many commonly used cards.
Things like brain control, smashing ground, lightning vortex, snatch steal, and the late Tribe Infecting Virus become much less useful when all of your monsters either remain facedown or return to your hand at your end phase.
Whatever the case, I'm trying to promote this deck as a new deck archetype, so feel free to net deck or test it on your own. Any and all input is welcome.
Monsters 17

I've updated the deck by adding more card draw and shifting around the Spells and traps a bit. By raising the number of ectoplasmers to three and swapping one Gravity Bind for a Level Limit Area B I hope to lower this decks' weaknesses to Vampire Lord, the Sacred Phoenix and Jinzo/ Royal Decree.
I'll still return any R/fs. :)
Take out Sphinx for another Stealth Bird.
Take out one Tomato for a Giant Rat.
And add two Des Lacooda.
I think that should help get the right monsters on the field faster. And Des will help keep your hand size up for BSS effect.
Pretty creative deck, it's nice to see ppl trying to make decks other than Cyber dragon beatdowns (at least in my current meta). A few I see with the deck are that it may have a prob with cookie cutter Warrior decks that can use Sasuke or Mystic Swordsman Lv. 2 and Cliff from their side decks. Plus most alsp pack Warrior Returning Alive. These decks seem popular along with Cyber Dragon. Also lots of ppl are running 3 Dust Tornados too. Without Ectoplasmer on the field I can c ur deck running into problems
Well it's not a new archtype. I have seen several Ectoplasmer or Bottomless Shifting Sands decks. Also many of them combine them both. Personaly I have ran a Bottomless Shifting Sands deck for a while somewhat currently and a few ban lists ago. Personaly BSS is hard to maintain in a deck thats good at hand managment. I tried tht in mine and it was still hard. I would like to see you switch to a pure ectoplasmer deck.
I need to get to sleep but I will come back and R/F your deck. If your interested Search for my Bottomless Shifting Sands deck for how I like to run one. (advanced search for posted started by me in the deck depot.)
Sfair74: I am not implying that I created this type of deck, but I am stating that I am promoting it and trying to grant it tier 1 status. Post your version on this thread to give others a chance to see both and compare the two.
Chaosruler6: Manticore of Darkness... Being run in two's, right? It may be worth looking in to. Of course it would benefit from Giant Rat, Stealth Bird, hell maybe even Bubonic Vermin or Nimble Momunga.
MightyMouseBlue: Thank you. The thing that I hope will happen is that not all of their answers come online at once. Essentually, most burn builds do not run as many kill cards or high attack monsters as this deck, and I hope that that simple fact will allow this deck to beatdown an opposing Mystic Sworsman lvl 2 or Cliff or Des Wombat. Tech Monsters are part of the reason why Lava Golem may make the list.
Everybody: This deck is not an ectoplasmer deck. Currently the deck runs three copies of Ectoplasmer to beat The Sacred Phoenix and Vampire Lord. It is also not a Bottomless Shifting Sands deck. It lacks a draw engine strong and resilient enough to fully compliment Bottomless Shifting Sand. What both of those decks require would be several ways to protect spells or traps, something that this deck also lacks in.
What makes this deck type strong is the fact that it is more resilient than the average build and it packs many cards that create a 1 for nothing advantage. Ectoplasmer, Bottomless Shifting Sand, Swarm of Scarabs, Swarm of Locusts, and maybe Des Lacooda are all examples of cards that make a situation go from bad to worse.
That is why this deck is called 'Bottomless.' Not because of Bottomless Shifting Sand, but because of this deck uses cards with unfathomable potential.
First off. I would like to get you down to 40 cards. 41 is close but your running combo heavy already. Secondly BSS and Ectoplasmer share alot of the same strategies but not all of them. Combining them usualy weakens them both. Pick one and run with it. It will run alot smother and consistant. I would like to see you run it as a pure ectoplasmer deck. Thats becuse having 5 or more cards in your hand durring your standby phase is a hard task to keep up with.
I have alot of cards I want to take out but you will get an explination and trust me BSS is very stopable and hard to control. BSS can't be a 1st or even 2nd teir deck. Ectoplasmer can be.
-1 Mobius the Frost Monarch
Mobius why? Dosen't help your decks goals at all.
-1 Guardian Sphinx
Great tribute for not getting nukes by BSS and Ectoplasmer but weak if attacked durring your opponets turn with BSS up. There is a better Tribute monster for an ectoplasmer deck.
-2 Royal Keeper
Somewhat poor effect and dosen't realy work that great with this deck expecialy becuse of Mesenger and G bind and LLAB.
-1 Cannon Soldier
Why? If there is a good reason other than last will tell me but not worth it for just last will.
-1 Chiron the Mage
Breaker is by far a better card.
-2 Mystic Tomato
Good for searching swarms and sangan but not good for much else.
-1 Susa Soldier
Great with BSS but I want to run full Ectoplasmer.
-2 Last Will
Not the greatest search utility. Somewhat unneeded
-1 Level Limit Area B
OK so it's limmiting your opponets Vamp lord and Pheonix. But Ectoplasmer Deals With that.

-2 Bottomless Shifting Sands
5 cards is seriously hard to maintain in any deck. Take my advice it can get the boot and we will abuse ectoplasmer to it's fullest potential.
-1 Gravity Bind
Limmits you too.
-1 Reckless Greed
Faster draws yes, But over the next 2 turns all you did is net yourself -1 card advantage.
+3 Horus Lv 6
This is the tribute King for this deck. Can run under your Mesenger and Is a great card.
+1 Swarm of Locusts
More S/T destruction. Great for keeping your Horus and friends safe
+2 Des Lacooda Reusable Draw power = Control
+1 Mesenger of Peace
Locking your opponets monsters down while yours can still attack is key.
+2 Brain Control
Nets you a monster to tribute with Ectoplasmer or for Horus. Also the 800 LP usualy payes for it's self with Ectoplasmer.
+1 Scapegoat
You should run a scapegoat in almost every deck.
+1 DD Capsule
Search Power
+1 Wave Motion Cannon
More Burn and works well with stall.
+1 Giant Trunade
I like running 2 in this deck.
+2 Bottomless traphole
More protection against Vamp and Pheonix and helps provent your opponet from burning you.
OK so it looks nothing like it ued to be but I think it will run alot better.
Sfair74, thank you for your input. I'll be editing this deck a bit based on some of your suggestions, but I will not simply throw the archetype out of the window.
I didn't really notice that the deck was 41 cards, so, thank you for mentioning that. You are right about some of the decks' choices being too conditional or having too many of some of the cards. Thus, I've removed several of the cards and changed the deck to a more earth related theme.
It is called bottomless.dec, not simply an ectoplasmer deck or a Horus deck. Thank you.
Does anyone else have any fixes or any more suggestions? Does anybody want to playtest this thing?
I initially dropped Yu-Gi-Oh for Magic: The Gathering, and I'm probably the only one on this thread to know what Cowardice does :)
Having said that, I think I understand where you're coming from: A rather solid deck that gets nasty once it gets its trump card active.
- Different Dimension Capsule
- Reckless Greed
- Level Limit - Area B
- Mobius the Frost Monarch
- Susa Soldier
+ Swarm of Scarabs
+ Torrential Tribute
+ Scapegoat
+ Des Lacooda
+ Guardian Sphinx (is this limited? I certainly hope not...)
I thought long and hard, but I couldn't really think of any changes. I just don't know the meta that well. I'll be sure to stop by and make some more posts once I get more oriented, but that's all that I can do excluding the meta from my considerations. Just strengthen the central theme, and add some needed staples.
