I'm confused. With ICE 'Mechs sporting 11 attacks, why does my 246pt Assault 'Mech HAVE A NINE ATTACK VALUE? Sure, it keeps it for 5 clicks, 2 better then Kevin, but this is still utterly rediculous. With BR getting /nothing/ this set, I hoped for some good SC units.... Guess I might have to pray for some decent JF..
Wow no complaints about this Warhammer IIC seeming to be wanting to take a bigger dump than previous versions! You would think Wizkids could have chosen a better placed figure to photograph! Looks like another candidate for the steam and bend!!!
For a SC unit it's kind of crappy. I'm used to SH and the heat dial sounds like it would allow me a field day compared to some of my regular mechs and the speed is average for what I'm used to. Good thing is that now I know which mech I can use to finally use the arms off of to build a old-school rifleman. Chop shop any one? :devious:
(Drops to knees, tears shirt off. Pumps fists in air)
WHOOOOOOOO! TAKE THAT!
With that out of the way, I suppose it's a decent unit. Not something I would field in a small game, but decent. And besides, it's only one unit. You Kitties have been spoiled rotten these past few sets.

The Spirit Cats are supposedly the game's prime energy weapon users.
The Highlanders on the other hand were the game's defensive specialists. A tough mixture of defence, armour and endurance at the expense of mobility and offensive prowess. Nobody claimed beating down Eriabee Childs, Caden Senn, Joel Nguyen and more was an easy task.
I just had to post. It's the Highlanders' lack of mobility that hurts them most. I have never had any trouble spanking any of the Big Fat Mechs ... with a :^: Blackhawk, and a Team of CBAs with one hoverbike.
There is absolutely nothing that can take 8 clicks of damage and a heat, and like it. It's almost too easy to base-break, Formation Alpha Strike then send in a Capture team for what's left. And yes, even two big mechs are not enough, one Bhawk was able to Alpha Strike and Restart three times in less than an hour of play.
While I don't generally brag about my victories, my Sig gives the only advice a Spirit Cat player really needs.
Well since what we know of this unit is less than stellar, what would need to be on the satts we dont know about to make this thing worth its points.
How about give the secondary TSEMP SE with 2 damage al the way down the dial, and an 18 inch range, that would explain the 9 attack (anti VTOL units alwasy get crappy attack values) and to a lesser degree the armor all the way down the dial (slows down VTOL's killing it).
We are used to sub par units look at the vast majority of Ballistic based vehicles. Only a few early set, soon to be retired LEs are able to set that off. Post DA ICE mechs are for most part pretty shafty. Its not like were toting any significant arty beyond the DriftMaster 3000 (DI Towed) We don't have any significant infiltrating piece beyond the Saxon/Scorchers combo. I can only HOPE that we get a cap 3 trany in FP. Yes we got REALLY lucky in CA. Then again we only saw 1 LE from that (a #### fine one as far as I'm concerned). If you want to see a well endowed faction check out SS. Balac, Towed AA, A4, Cyclops of death. Not to mention the Mjolnir Cruise missile.
Now it about time that the HL got some love but I still don't see where it says in the game rules that either the LE is great or the Unique while the other is "a 12 in. long ranger."
You know, they haven't mentioned the secondary attack, the STARTING ATTACK (it could just be that it's got a higher starting attack and moves down to a 9 attack later on and keeps it) or it's defense. Plus, if it's got colors on the third click, it could just be a heat up that leads to another heat up and then probably a full-color dial (like that of Geo Keane for example).
The overwhelming majority of the units designed for this game are just chaff. This is just another part of that overwhelming majority. Way to go WK! Keep producing only a half dozen or so playable units a set. It keeps my spending down and I do not have to buy boosters. All I have to do is buy singles. The chances of buying a booster with all four units in it being playable are about a google to one.

hows it feel to have a 12 inch range be considered 'long range' ??
I find this rather funny, since before Mikal Nova Cat and Angus, the SC had no units with better than 12 inch range. We get 3 16 range mechs and now everyone thinks the SC rule at range???? Have you even looked at SC arty?
Sorry, but as a SC/DF player since the game came out, I've been used to 12 inches, as long range. So we had a bone thrown to us in one expansion.
Go look at the majority of SC mechs, and you'll be hardpressed to find many that have an higher then 10... oh wait, that's because there isn't a single one.
