I've played against both Rgrayua and RobRob - as I live in the same state.. and I like the venue; but it is an hour and a half drive there for me and that makes it kinda.. CRAZY.. for me to head over there all that often for a game.

hey don't forget us lonley Northern VA guys ;) Once the schedule, time, and wife premits there will be a 2nd Rumble in Manassas. This one will have more variety of games(5 on 1 conqeust was fun, but draining on the 1) and still be an all day/night event. Rgrayua and RobRob were there last time, I will have to remember to contact you also Yandros ;)
[back on topic]
I see the whole thing a bit differently than what I have read in the thread. The games in the metro DC area do seem to be dying down a bit(from what I have heard from everyone) but the stores still stock and sell lots of product. I think that some of the missing players have gone "underground" and are playing outside of the venue, or at the venue when there is no scheduled tournament. Granted people have left for other games or just because the "fad" of WK cliky games has worn off, but this behaviour is generally cyclic and with school getting out soon I am sure you can expect a pickup of the younger crowd.... I hope.
I'd like to follow up on vpctek's question, "Is there a forum where players such as superevans can post their name and location in order to find opponents?"
Making it easier for players to find opponents seems like a productive line of thought that would yield some positive results.
Posting on the General Discussion Forum seems like an option but is there another way? I checked out the Members function but mine doesn't look like it lists anyone's location-just shows a blank for everyone. Also, when I use the Advanced Search function, it just displays a list of all members when I search by location. Any suggestions?
By the way, if anyone ever plans on visiting or moving to Osaka PM me.

I think such a function would be very useful. This could have changed, but I think the last time this came up the Realms had a policy against allowing "Area Player" threads, as it would seriously overcrowd the forum. Someone asked about making a special forum for that but I don't think it ever went anywhere. There used to be a location option in your profile here, I'm not sure if it's still there. Probably best bet is find a venue and/or warlord and send them an e-mail asking about casual games or tournaments, whichever you're looking for.
My city has three venues one of which I run events at. Strangely one venue has heavy MW players and next to no MK and the other has the opposite. I get next to no players as I can't find a time to run games when people can show up so I run tournaments for friends and family and end up with 6-8 players.
As far as if some one decides to quit and why it doesn't particularly matter to me. I'm not going to try and convince some one to stay or go. Before I got into this game I made sure my friends would play the game with me so down the road if the game died out I would still have some one to play with.
I do agree however that WK has done some things to MK that I'm not happy with. There are several units who shall remain nameless that I feel never should have been made, rules changes that I feel are silly and that the point cost formula which clearly doesn't work properly. If I didn't love the game I would quit myself. However I can still have fun with the game so I still support it.
I myself bought very little of the latest expansion because I didn't like the cross faction figs that were chosen and very little else in the set interested me. Also this is the first set of which I did not buy a case.
Originally posted by Fred Delles I'm with bshugg. It's his well thought-out opinion, it's about MK, and it isn't a flame or a troll, so many of you (mostly to Pyro and Tsetsuki) have NO right to criticize him or his post.
Umm... they have as much right to post their opinions as he does Fred...
I think its great that the original poster actually let everybody know that he/she is getting out of the game, and didn't just leave without us never hearing another word from him/her. The thread wasn't saying that everything about MK or WK sucks, like so many others do. He/she actually gave examples of why it has come to this for him/her.
For those of you who are lucky enough to have a decent player-base in your area, appreciate it and try to understand that it isn't that way everywhere. I also don't think its right to insenuate that this is the fault of the players.
Here's my personal experience:
Back in early 2001, I got into MK and we played 3 scenario games. Some other players were nice enough to teach me and let me borrow their figures to join in until I got some of my own. I went out and bought hundreds of $'s of boosters so I could build an army of my own (I had to try it out because I didn't know what figures were good or not), and even bought this "cool" case to carry my figures in. We all showed up for the next event, and when we walked in, the "venue" had a bunch of employees sitting around playing one of those stupid RPG's that isn't even around anymore. (Yes I said stupid)
They told us they weren't doing MK anymore, but they sure did stock it!!!! That was disappointing to say the least. Since that day, I have yet to find another venue within an hour of me that even has MK games. I keep buying, collecting, and trading to keep involved in some level, with the hope that it will turn around. I have 9 venue type places in my area that host everything from HC, MtG, Yugi, and all sorts of stuff, but not one of them will have MK events. I have asked and they tell me that HC and Yugi is the thing right now, and that they don't think MK will be back there. I told them that somebody is buying the MK product, and they agreed, but said that there is not enough days of the week to "waste" hours committed to MK events, when they can do more Yugi events during that time.
None of these places sells singles, there isn't an LE to be found around here, etc, etc.......
I believe MK is the greatest concept game I have ever come across, and although I'm not an idiot, the simplicity of it allows even those who are very busy, or out of town a lot, the ability to keep up.
I have said it before, and I'll say it here: WK's will be sold once there is a decent base for all the different clix games they have developed. They will come back as another company with a similar concept game "from the creators of MK, HC, MW, etc."
This is an opinion, but except for the last paragraph, it is also fact. You cannot always blame the players and you cannot always blame WK's, but it is obvious attention is paid to some of the newer clix games........
One more point and I'll shut up:
For those of you who think the topic of this thread is something you are "tired of seeing on these forums", believe me it is a good-bye and not half as annoying as those "banning", "broken", and complaint threads that clutter these boards. Many of those who have posted here, whether positive or negative in tone, are frequent contributors to those eyes sores. Do you think those threads make people feel better about MK? I believe they are more damaging to players attitudes than anything that this thread implied.
