In a word, for me, the game is dead. If I go to a tournament, there are maybe 2-3 other people there (Marquee had 3 total). Basically, most people I know are playing MW. Signs like the fact that no one has posted to the latest pulls list since last monday, where before we'd have seen the pulls list continue and continue for weeks. WK, which had started out with really good customer service and player support, has gotten worse, and shows signs of becoming more and more greedy.
It's a shame really, because the sculpts for most of the new figures look amazing. Values for the figures have dropped to near nothing, which would be good if I had people to play with.
I know people hate hearing this, but one of the things that did me in was the prevalence of bound. The counter to bound, it seems, is LI. However, because so much LI is out there, now the old ranged figures without bound are next to useless. In my marquee, I won, because I had charge, bound, and then a shield golem in my army, something I think will happen in all future games (and reducing the variety for me). I'm not complaining and saying it should be changed, because it's WK's game, and they can choose the directions they want to head.
I'm trying to get what money I can for the figs and uniques that I never use, while they still have some value. Figures like the Solonavi Destroyer are fetching $30+! I plan on keeping the figures that I either have a sentimental attachment to, or that I think I would need if I wanted to field competitive armies again (i.e. Krugg Seer, Magus, HEG). I also am keeping all of my Dungeons figures, because I like that game more than MK (no arguing over range due to squares, counterattacks). I still plan on reading the realms, but can't stomach the weekly: "this sa should be banned" or "which fig is best".
Good luck to those of you that remain.
Please save the sass for others of your kind. Most of us, MK and MW players alike(Which I am of both), perfer to talk about the games we like on the site they are designated to. You won't find many people on this site or MW realms who think that the game they play is dead; so please, stop telling the rest of us that you dislike the game, because wwe like it.
Hey superevans, so your quitting, thats bad, but why do you need to tell us? Do you mean to try and rip a few good MK players from the game by trying to convince them there beloved game is dead?
Your tournement scene may be dead, but here at one of my venues we regularily get 10+ and even up to 20. Im sorry your MK scene is dead, but don't complain to us about it please.
And, as much as your little spiel about LI and Bound probably helped you vent, You know fall into your hated category of "this sa should be banned" threads. Please stop complaining and stop trying to ruin the game for the rest of us.
I agree with Tset, I dont really play MK anymore but I still try to be an active member of the realms and help out my clan whenever I can. I guess what I'm trying to get at is "You can quit and not make a big scene."
um....bro? i got news for you...if i could get THAT kind of participation HERE...i would be one happy strider...
be thankful for what you've got and play the game for the fun. two or three people? get more, try to win without the standard army, whatever.
they're playing mechwarrior? sweeeeet. gives you something to watch between rounds. and laugh at.
not trying to be...erm, mean....here, just saying, i would almost kill (cuz you know...there's capital punishment here, so i cant go through wit it) to get to play even as much as you do. hang around for a while, give it a chance to grow back. things like this tend to go in cycles.
This guy just posted his opinion, no need to assault him over it. Everything he said was 100% dead on. You can't fault someone for writing the truth.
superevens: Im sorry that you feel the way you do and that the game has turned out that way for you. Wizards of the Coast is putting out a new collectable mini game in the near future. Perhaps it will interest you and be fun for you to try, or perhaps wizkids will realize they have competition and shape up. Here's to hoping!
I'm with bshugg. It's his well thought-out opinion, it's about MK, and it isn't a flame or a troll, so many of you (mostly to Pyro and Tsetsuki) have NO right to criticize him or his post.
Frankly, the MK world is in a sad state of affairs: They're flooding the market with too many clicky games (there was a Crimson Skies marquee not too long ago), there are only about twenty good figures in Rebellion in a field of almost a thousand, and it seems that WK isn't getting their act together when it comes to their flagship product.
As for me, I'm dumping all my figures except the heroes, Draconum, Solonavi, dragons, Dungeons MS, and my good Conquest figures (Arties, Woodland Snipers, Forest Nymphs, OSTs, Storm Golem, etc.) Hey, I can get big bucks and still stick with the MK world.
While I may have argued some things with Fred, I agree with this fully. I very much enjoy playing the game (though there aren't any venues within half hour of me), but I've always kept my collection pretty streamlined. Heck, I'll bet that I've THROWN away more figures than most people on this site have owned... and that is because I only like to keep figures that I'll use.
It is a sad affair that the metagame has been reduced to just a few builds, even though the number of figures available has increased ten-fold over the past 2 years.
I also agree that WK has been flooding the market with clix games. I had considered getting int MW (which seems like it could be around for a while), but when the number of games went from 3 to about 100 or so clix games I decided that I wouldn't support the strategy of milking one game then driving the players to another clix game to milk them there also.
I also enjoy Dungeons more than regular MK, less rules bickering and more strategies available (pity they nerfed quickness.. as that was a strategy all to its own, I would have preffered that they just said heroic teams could only consist of heroes - period)
First off, let me clarify something. I was not in any way "Assaulting" superevans, I was simply trying to get him to confine his complaining to a more private venue. I really don't need to hear about someone elses MK enviroment. As I said in my post:

I was in no way insulting/assaulting him, I asked him to stop complaining. I assume he's tried to work and save his own MK scene, and for that I commend him. But I really don't need to hear how bad it is. Im sorry for this incredibally blunt comment, but I don't loose any sleep over the fact that some people have quit due to the game, and certainly don't need to know why they quit. Its one of those little tidbits of knowlege I feel no great desire to possess.
Im sorry if my post came across harsh, (either this or the last one) I truly did not mean it too. But how would you like it if I consistently complained about events in my personal life that I could not change, and subjected the viewers here on the realms to a constant barrage of annoying threads? Its the same way out of the analogy, with all the "Im quiting, here's a long list of reasons why" or "This Figure/SA has ruined the game" threads.
Superevans: Im truly sorry your leaving the game, as each player that leaves the game is one more opponent I cannot play and learn from whether I win or lose, it doesn't matter, as I have lost a potential game and an opponent. But if you have concerns with the game as a whole, talk them over with friends and fellow gamers, then send your concerns to wizkids. Please don't complain about things beyond your control, it only serves to put a damper on the day of the person who is reading it.
Again, sorry if my above post or the one I posted before on this thread offending someone, im just speaking my views. You may not like it, you may not agree with it, and you may dislike me for it, but its my view on the subject and I have as much right to express it as any of you.
We have the same problem, lack of tournament interest due to MW. So? I still play because I know I'm heading to college in Charleston (I live in SC) in a year, and there are some serious MK players there (Isabee for example)
Another player that's not too far from me.. We need an eastern sea board get together to play some MK.. I'm in NC.
Anyways back to the thread, MK is just starting up here again. I recently got a new venue set up and a great Warlord to run some events and we're trying to build the scene up from scratch which is interesting. We've been holding alot of Demo's.. well I just go in there with a friend and Play some MK and we get alot of people stopping buy and asking stuff. Had our first MK event saturday, only 2 people showed up but thems the breaks.
Our next event is Wed and I expect 4-6 to show up. HeroClix is huge here but MK isn't.. oh well. I run HeroClix so I can't complain too much.
Anyone who thinks this isn't game is dying is in denial. I will play on for the fun of it but some of the new figure are just so overwhelmingly crapply designed I see no way for people to feel good about a victory were you use any of them.
