I'm a gamer, but a casual gamer, and the motives of certain clixers for playing the game in regard to tournaments is clearly mystifying for me. If you don't like the game (in tourneys or at home) for what it is; that is, because it is simply fun to play in itself, what is the point? If you like the game, you like the game, particularly for those for whom tourneys are the only chance to play. If these players won't show up when the LEs aren't compelling, I just don't get it. Don't they want to play the game?
Actualy in my case they really do, but as I said the LE's lost that special feel. Oh look I won Clarice. I'll keep her box next to the other 5. Why am I giving it out?? Its just perspecive GG. From my experince I'm glad that they're going away. I'm sorry we can't all be happy with that, but as usual in this community we can't agree on everything.

For me; its complex, and I don't know quite how to feel, but I do see it from a number of perspectives.
YES, prizes should be special. but it was better when it was 1st, 2nd, and fellowship. then more people got to feel special. has this "too many cool peices available" fiasco caused as many people to stop palying as when they dropped prize support from three to two peices? I kind of doubt it. Give us second place prizes back.
YES, I'm a collector. always have been. If there is a complete set of things, and I get even one; its all over. I'm compelled to get more. Luckily for me, I have it under control. still, I want the peices I want; and some are next to impossible to get your hands on. Some peices (like Kara-Zor El) Were hard Hard HARD to get unless you won one. (I actually was able to trade for one) and setting aside the issue of Con Exclusives (which I don't begrudge in the least) Making some peices only available to the winners of tournaments can be kinda harsh.
NO, I'm not an excellent player. I always friggin lose. I have this curse see? I love to collect games. I Have Dozens of collections of various card games and Minitures littering my house... but I always lose. I'm the one who collects them... I literally have to pressure my friends into playing... and as soon as they know how to play... I lose like 90% of the time. So, you see, when I do Show up to Tourneys, someone else wins... some 14 year old kid gets fellowship, and I go home empty handed. So I don't go anymore. I try my best to trade online.
So what I'm saying is this:
If you really want to increase Tournament attendence, try giving us something MORE; not something different. Give us back second place, so that competeing with the guy who always wins has some chance of reward. (around here; every venue has a "guy who always wins") Maybe try giving out limited cards for just showing up. (that would be cheaper than the semi-successful Doc-Oc no?)
HEY! I just remembered that I don't have an Aunt May pog! who'll trade me one?
All of the above is really meant for those actually looking for a different perspective on the issue, not the cheap-shot artists who aren't interested in listening.
Another reason, in addition to an offensive moniker, why Gacy is on my ignore list...
Since I've never once pulled a SR from a booster pack, this decision doesn't have much of an impact for me. I never saw the point of them to begin with. I'd rather get a Unique in my booster than a SR anyway.
Unless BrotherMagneto or JonL has been on to confirm that there are only 8 LEs, I'm not inclined to believe that it's true. WK forgot to put all the pogs, BFCs and Feats on the checklist so there's no reason to believe that they didn't also forget some of the LEs. If it turns out to be true that there are only 8 LEs, I'm actually perfectly fine with that. It means that the odds of getting an LE Kurt Wagner before the next Marvel set comes out are near 100%.

*Not that he'll see this, because he's ignorant and uneducated towards my name on here......how that makes him any better of a person is beyond me *
I was unaware that I was a cheapshot artist. I just call it like it like I see it. I just made a statement and I've always been a person to listen to both sides of an arguement. I may not agree with something initially, but there have been numerous occasions where I've finally agreed with what I didn't initially agree on. I'm not so hardheaded or whatever that I REFUSE to listen.

Boy, WK is damned if you do, and damned if you don't on this SR/LE issue. Before them, you'd have people whining "I can't get them, because- I don't live near a venue-my venue is crooked-I can't win because of this player- or whatever else. So they make the SR's. Now it's "Oh man I'm tired of getting them-No one plays here cause they pull the prizes already..etc" I personally pulled ONE from MM, and TWO from Legacy. (But I pulled the Red Hood dial THREE times with my R Jokers, it was stuck underneath the R Joker dial)
I bet they are sittin there in WA going..."We just wanted to help..."
Contrary to popular belief, I do know what I'm doing

And this is different than the 2nd run of LE's how??? Before there were SR's, I had at least 3, THREE of every Ultimates LE (except for the ones that were only available one time). Not that I am just some super player, but after prizes start repeating players STOP showing up. So attendence will drop in correspondence to a repetition/abundance in prizes either way. People who play for fun are going to continue to play for fun, people who play for the prizes will stop playing once their new toy is not as shiny.
And what kind of luck do you have?? Outside of a case I have only pulled 1 SR in a booster draft. You have a higher chance of pulling a U than a SR.
Chuck Norris is the only person who can simultaneously hold and fire FIVE Uzis: One in each hand, one in each foot, and the 5th one he roundhouse-kicks into the air, so that it sprays bullets.

Very true, but at 4 per case hanging around 2 venues that have each sold more than 15 cases of both MM and Legacy you just start to watch the SRs pile up. Not to mention the pile up even more when they can go for as little as $.99 on ebay.
I have a full set of MM SRs and LEs and I'm using the SRs as extra prizes. My players are still showing up to play, but I personaly like it better when the LE is symbolic of some special vs. something that there are 2 of sitting in the store showcase or that you can pluck off eBay for $.99

Well, I personally never cared for the "super-rares" anyway, so I won't miss those taking up space...and the Galactus give-a-ways sound like a great way to reward players (albeit, not in a perfect way, as I have been the 1st place finisher simply by "showing up"- no other players.)
Better than my venue, the judge's kid wins every week.
1. He's good.
2. He has almost every figure including LE's.
3. He builds his team right before the torunament based on what others have brought or pull out.
He's done nothing bad, don't get me wrong. He just wins every time.

Uh, I think your answer is right there. How hard is it to build a team, knowing exactly what teams you are going up against? We had one guy (yeah, an adult) who would try to do this. It got to the point, that people wouldn't even show off what they brought to play, until he showed up and had his team built. I'd advise this to the other players at your venue.
