I stopped reading comic books long ago. It's all just soap opera with laser beams and tights.
...and gorillas. Don't forget the talking gorillas.
God is smarter than we are....

Batman having a son sounded terrible,....until I read it.
Bruce Wayne "dying" and being replaced sounded terrrible,....until I read it.
Damian taking over the role of Robin sounded terrible,...until I read it.
Grant Morrison has made Batman a must-read over the last four years. I will certainly give anything he writes the benefit of the doubt and try it out, no matter how goofy or terrible it may sound. He knows how to sell the craziest ideas.
Agreed. I really think people ought to wait until they judge, and that goes for everything, not just this.
Some thoughts ...
1- I find it difficult to reconcile there being 2 "gotham" batmen.
I thought that would be odd as well. When I watched that Morrison interview, though, I think I figured out how they're planning on reconciling that element that rubs all of us the wrong way.
Since Batman is supposed to be a mysterious, legendary figure, it makes a little sense that there would be conflicting rumors about his acvtivities and even his whereabouts. Bruce and Dick will capitalize on that by actually playing the Batman role in two different places.
In the Batman & Robin title, Dick and Damian will continue fighting crime in Gotham City.
In the Batman, Inc. title, Bruce will be Batman teaming up with Batman-inspired heroes all over the globe.
The other Batman titles, Batman, Detective, etc. will probably be split between the two Batmen, some featuring Dick Grayson stories, some featuring Bruce Wayne stories.
If there ends up a Batman on the Justice League during this time, I would assume that it ends up being Bruce, which jives with his new emphasis on a global presence.
For what it is worth, for those who didn't watch the video I linked to above, Morrison said that Batman, Inc. is essentially a two-year story. Whether that means a return to the classic Batman status quo at the end of those 2 years or not was left obviously unclear.
...now, if we can just get Professor Pyg confirmed.

Yes, but you're a surrealist! I'm a normal guy!
Gil Zoo Crew or bust!
On the topic of Damien, my problem with him is that he barely has any redeeming qualities. They try to make him out like a badass, but he just comes off like a punk.
Yeah, but his mom is soooooooooooo ^%$%^$ing HOT! That's the only reason why anybody hangs out with him.

There will clearly not be two Batmen for long. It'll just be some dumb gimmick for a while (a year tops hopefully). I read Batman since 1985 and the standout for me was that the guy has no powers, and yet accomplished so much as ONE ordinary man. Criminals are supposed to think he's everywhere anyway, actually being everywhere is a bit rubbish if you ask me (which you don't).
I can't see it lasting. I am totally fed up with these kinds of stories by writers who can't think of anything other than- kill him, lose his powers, get a replacement, original comes back/ regains powers, NOW THERE"S TWO! I'm thinking Batman, Captain America, Hulk and to some extent, Iron Man.
