This is a totally boss Thor, but the FCBD Thor offers me a great dial with 2 great point values for team building. Not to mention I already switched my favorite sculpt onto the dial (supernova might thor)
With the exception of Nate none of the others have the name recognition.........there is a mix of 'never made/remade after a while/frequently remade' figs. The frequently remade figs are there for a reason and beileve it or not they are one of the big reasons that we even continue to get unmade figures made.

Or remakes of:
Aurora
Northstar
Wendigo
Sounds like some figures that should/could be showing up in a 'Wolverine themed X-men set' which I think a good chunk of people are considering the front runner for the next Marvel full set.

Etc., etc., the sad thing about this whole thing is this list is endless yet the remake list is probably restricted to the top 10 in each universe (Marvel & DC). Just pathetic. Hope you enjoy the blatant wallet-gouging.
If by 'blatant wallet-gouging' you mean offering me clix that I want to buy and then actually enjoying those clix I bought.....then yes, I believe I will. Thanks for the well wishes.
But this seems to be a real issue for you.............if so don't buy it. It's OK to say no.

And yes, I haven't even started to touch on Hulk & Captain America in Chaos War AFTER having a SET & GRAVITY FEED of Captain America and Incredible Hulk?!?!
Don't forget Iron Man! He hasn't had a set focused on him in a while (AW I think is the last one) but I do expect a movie set to drop when IM-3 is in theaters.
But they were in the movie as well so I expect to see them in focus as well.
I know to some people the Movie sets are completly different..............but that's silly to me. Thor is Thor and Sinestro is Sinestro. I just don't mind the 'A-list focus' when there are rationel for it.
And a movie that has grossed enough to be gross is a good rationel.
It is almost upon us! Are you prepared for the Quarmageddon?
The Overpower card game tried its best not to repeat characters. How did that work out? The main characters were often the worst in the game (they came first), while minor characters were the top cards for their innovative designs and learning from experience.
Same with the Vs card game. Because they stuck to team themes, the premiere teams (like Brotherhood, Fantastic Four, X-Men, Spider-Man, Syndicate, Doom) all fought to overcome overly simplistic and basic tricks, while the fun 'stunt' decks were all lesser-knowns like Kree, Inhumans, SHIELD, and Exiles.
Star Wars CCG was an excellent game with nearly flawless rules and direction. But the big disappointment was that the main characters were few and far between. Darth Vader appears only 5 times in just over a dozen sets. The Millennium Falcon only 4 times. And because sets came out mostly in chronological order, the Death Star is one of the most boring places to base a deck out of (meaning making an Attack Run on it isn't even competitive).
There's a certain amount of remakes necessary solely to keep up with game design trends. And there's a certain amount included for marketability. It's fine for most players if Rhino cycles out of play both as a retired character and an outdated design. But if there's only three Thors in the modern age, and only 2 are playable, and 1 is from a set that's no longer on the shelves...
Necessary evil for long-term collectors like us. Just pick up the new variations you like and skip (or trade) the ones you don't.
Your response is far too logical and reasonable...and also smacks of appreciation for the game while also avoiding an egocentric view of the world. In short, it is totally inappropriate for the 'realms...
"I love man for all the potential that he holds, and hate men for how seldom they live up to it"
Sandman!!!!!!!! he carries sandman to a fugure shoots em for a bit than taunt him he fails and takes 1 damage. do it again if he can't push and he takes 2 damage. rince and repete
Art Thou Too Craven To Fight?: Give Thor a free action if he has no action tokens and choose an opposing character within Thor's range and line of fire that is not adjacent to any other characters.
Sandman would have to base the craven villain AFTER Thor used Taunt. I like that combo.
coming soon : nu52 Hercules

This figure represents the thirteenth version (literally) of Thor since Wizkids issued the “Thor Corps” Keyword… not to get the Keyword. Were the rights to “Thor Corps” lost in the transfer?
I’m not going to argue whether we need three or four Thor representations in every set, but if we have to have them, it should be easy to fill both criteria: appeal to the mass-consumer/newb and satisfy the collector/comic book reader/neckbeard.
Oh, and I need another Beta Ray Bill and Thunderstrike for this particular example to matter.
Return next Tuesday when we peel back the shell of a shield wielding hero.

FWIW, I'd much rather have two Taskmasters in this set than two Thors. :P

I prefer to be realistic about my hobbies. I could compare all my games against each other and get bad opinions of all of them, or I can take what I know about each, look at the pros and cons with a bit of distance, and use other games to inform my opinions.
Clix has a much longer shelf life than most games, and that successful run must be for a reason.
As not a big Thor fan, I reluctantly include him on appropriate teams and throw around his straightforward (and usually dull) dials as a heavy beatstick. But this dial showcases what makes this character different with a neat power progression and a vain special power that shows off that arrogant attitude.
Plus, this sculpt has the 'stocky buff' build that Ronan has, showing a strong AND solid character. HoT couldn't do that, and Movie Thor doesn't look like that, but the Thor of modern books decidedly does, and that's what I want.
Can't wait to see Donald Blake, and to a lesser degree the other Thor.
Interesting take. As another not big Thor fan, he just looks like another Thor to me, and we're swimming in them right now. But you've caused me to give him another look.

I agree that marquee characters need to be reprinted fairly regularly, but I think with the passel o' Thors we just got in the AVM sets, this guy just seems like overkill.
FWIW, for Overpower, I thought the characters that were best in the game were those with one or more 8s (or Infinity symbols, like Beyonder). Of course, the addition of the Intellect(?) stat really changed the game quite a bit and made older characters a little less good. But generally, I just wanted 8s, preferably in the same stat category so I could tailor my deck to them.

Are you saying the people who make the figures or the people who take the time out of their lives to write articles to entertain everybody...for free? (Or both?)
I was referencing Wizkids and its employees, but yes, we can extend that to the unpaid reviewers and previewers as well.
I just don't see why anyone would have a problem getting a neat figure like this with this new sculpt and dial. I don't understand that, even if it is a "remake."
I want it, that's for sure.
