Are you calling them gay as an insult? ("Dude, I don't like you. You are so gay.")
Are you implying that arguing is always due to sexual tension? ("He keeps pulling my pigtails!")
Are you advocating some hippie philosophy as an alternative to fighting? ("Make love, not war.")
So many people on this website say things like Spud did when two people argue? What does it mean exactly?
Hmmm, I'm going to believe that your first hypothesis is probably correct. The author is insinuating with his subtle comment that the argument between the two gentlemen is causing grief for the community at large. The writer, while having no "true" sexual orientation, believes himself to be straight, and therefore believes the opposite (being "gay") to be insulting to the parties at hands. He hopes through negative enforcement (in this case, insinuating an openly homosexual act between two presumably straight arguers), he can cause the argument to stop. As the internet has proven, this rarely works, but does make the authors feel better about themselves.
