Looking over the rules, I agree Oak's abilities aren't totally clear.
I think the general balance is good and the evolution balance is good as well.
I think busdrivers shouldn't be able to target themselves for the same reasons doctors shouldn't be able to target themselves. Additionally, I think blockers should beat misdirectors and by that token, if you block a player who busdrives himself, the busdriver should be blocked. Just my opinion.
I think two serial killers is a bit much but one went down early so it didn't unbalance things. Generally, serial killers are a way to speed the game along but can really punish the winning side (mafia outplays the town but gets ripped up by the serial killer) or take an uneven game off the rails entirely (mafia outplays the town and then the serial killer only hits townies and then gets himself lynched). Two serial killers can make a game unwinnable for one side very quickly through no fault of that side's players or could just thwart every positive move a side makes, leading to a lot of frustration. Worked okay, here, but it could have been ugly.
Love the flavor. The writeups were a bit explicit (allowing several players to be confirmed) but between Ditto, Gary and Oak, there was plenty of confusion so that's good. I like that there were a lot of little hints like the red pokeball beam or Ditto's eyes. Easy to miss.
I dislike Team Rocket having a hidden win condition counter to their stated win condition. This rewards bad play (getting caught and not talking your way out of a lynch) and getting lynched as the serial killer is the easiest thing in the world. Rocket needed some hints. They needed to fail their kills and be threatened by Giovanni. They needed to know getting lynched would bring down Team Rocket and have the ability to reason out a play where getting lynched was (storywise) a good idea. The town needed a good reason not to lynch them or they needed some external threat (like if the mafia knew about Team Rocket and got some reward for stopping them). Basically, with a jester, you want to avoid a situation where the town can knowingly lynch a jester and you want to avoid a situation where it's easy for a jester to get themselves lynched.
Those are all my thoughts. Overall, this was a very solid first outting and it seemed like most everyone had a great time.
Thank you for the feedback!
As for the 2 SKs: Rocket only got the one kill, the rest wouldn't go through. And I did all of the correspondence with gfishfunk in notes from Giovanni basically doing exactly what you said. (I believe I even used the words "acting like a court jester") so the hints weren't completely nonexistent.
Thoughts: I really loved the write-ups. At first I was worried they might have too much info, but the way the game went seemed to indicate differently, and looking at all the "choose a pokemon" type roles I think that wasn't really much of a concern.
Balance... who knows. There were a lot of moving parts, and while that makes things interesting it can also make it hard to balance. I'm not sure the balance was off, I did think the town played pretty well.
I wish there was more of a way for town pokemon to evolve themselves, instead of relying on two external sources that could kill them. That's kind of personal preference though, not sure it's a real big deal.
Finally, I didn't think I played that well this game. But Ice, why would you ask for a doctor if you were gonna busdrive yourself?? (Honestly I didn't love targeting you with that big bold asking for the doc, but I think that was right after I got lynched during Bioware and I was kinda fried so I took the easy way out.)
Oh, and for the record, Ice (because I felt a little like I piled on) - I didn't have a big problem with what you did. I don't think it was totally kosher but I also don't think you were trying to play dirty. I think it just worked out that way for this game because of how the powers were flavored. I thought you played a great game overall.
This is the second time in a row I've been neutral and only convinced the mafia, not the town.
My roleblocked claim was a joke....but then everybody took it seriously and I decided to run with it.
I cannot believe that people believed that claim. Especially as long as they did.
Shocking.

This. It's nothing against Ice's play, and not personal. I just think there was a distinction draw that pressured people in an unfair way, but that doesn't mean he played dirty or wrong.

Thanks for the game, guys!
I gotta go back and see what I said exactly. Was I the only outted townie at that point?
As a bus driver I asked if I could target myself. Once I found I could I would usually never ask for a doctoring.
I did however consider straight misdirection early on instead of Busdriving.
Really, really fun game. Cool roles and an awesome mechanic.
In a game this size (on the smallish side) there is usually a pretty cut and dry dynamic of one or two kills and not much else. Your attempts to spice it up really worked in my opinion and created a lot of quandaries for all sides to need to try and figure out.
For the mafia, they needed to evolve as the town was to keep up power wise. For the town they needed to root out at least one or two kill options immediately or the game would get away from them very quickly (it almost did) and the neutrals all had Posi/Neg draws to them that needed to be thought of while making actions and trying to figure what side to really sidle up to.
You guys deserve an ovation for a very, very fun game.
I hope you will do another Pokemon game very soon. This could be a really cool series.
Reading through I don't think Ice's questions should have even been that troublesome or a trap. It's not hard to name a Pokemon power for your character...

Just part of building a fake claim and gives the Mafia a task outside of "kill everyone else"...or that's what I thought.
To clarify, I don't think Ice was trying to skirt the rules or ask for anything he thought was inappropriate. I just think we all have a slightly different "line" for what can be used in game and what can't.
Some people think its a smart move to use the info from your role PM, others think its 'non-game' information.
FWIW, I think using role PMs as a game mechanic gives mods an incentive to just make them vanilla. Although now that I'm thinking about it, it would be simple to just give the mafia/neutrals a template town role pm, solving the whole problem.
That, or a mod could just make sure the town role PMs follow different formats.

The mafia had no way of knowing the powers were flavor named after pokemon moves from the game. All townies had this secret knowledge that the mafia didn't have....which is fine, as long as it isn't mentioned. But it was.
This is literally the exact reason you don't quote your role pm.
The problem comes in, if town powers were formated like, "TM29: Psychic: You are the...", mafia would need to somehow guess all powers were TM powers. Or they would be instantly exposed. And there is no way to gain this knowledge. All mafia are just screwed. I guessed right, and in a lot of games it doesn't matter, but it could, and this is why it should never be used.

No, the literal reason is so you don't just fork over your whole role PM and was thought of an early way to trying to clear yourself (because the concept of faking a role PM wasn't considered?).
The first time Ice busted someone that way, time for others to realize what happened and have a Pokemon power name ready.
