So, for those of you paying attention, I'm on a little Social Distortion kick.
I've got a window open for Youtube and I'm just clicking on their videos in the "Suggested" area.
One of the suggested videos was Kelly Clarkson and one of the ads that played before one of the videos was for some auto-tuney-dance-crap-boyband.
Someone needs to fix the software on Youtube.
Social D is opening for Foo Fighters on the tour now. I was very tempted to go, but I just can't. I like both bands a lot, but for some reason I never want to see Foo Fighters in concert. It does not interest me.

As for nationalism and multiculturalism, it's a small mind that poses these as the only states one can have. (Edit: Not pointing that at anyone. Some larger agendas tend to set the definition and restrictions on these discussions if we're not careful enough to not allow them to do it.)
Multiculturalism is a horrible, wobbling mish-mash as some people are told to celebrate their whatever-ness while a smaller group is called bigoted if they try to do the same. "Pride" parades of any stripe give me hives. (Well, I'm no fan of parades to begin with.)
Nationalism also distresses me, but then again pep rallies unsettle me. Mindless mob cheering of a group identity frightens me on a fundamental level. When it advances to a degree that (relative) intellectuals in the group begin to come up with seemingly scholarly works supporting the self-aggrandizement I begin to worry and seriously look around for an escape route.
The U.S. is at its best when it views itself as a melting pot, our culture being a constantly changing alloy -- to extend the metaphor.
