Here is the answer from Morrison that we have been waiting for, but everyone already knew:
"Before I write any story I take 10 hits of acid. Sometimes none of it makes sense even to me, but it doesn't matter because my fans will still read everything I write and praise me as a god even if what I write is garbage."
Batman having a son sounded terrible,....until I read it.
Bruce Wayne "dying" and being replaced sounded terrrible,....until I read it.
Damian taking over the role of Robin sounded terrible,...until I read it.
Grant Morrison has made Batman a must-read over the last four years. I will certainly give anything he writes the benefit of the doubt and try it out, no matter how goofy or terrible it may sound. He knows how to sell the craziest ideas.
I agree... I've rather liked Grant Morrison's run on Batman (despite how funky his ideas have seemed beforehand) and plan to continue reading. BTW, I totally think Bruce and Dick both being Batman would just be a smart decision on the part of the characters; it is better for Gotham City and increases Batman's reputation as the urban legend that you just can't escape from.
One thing I do hope though is that Tim will go back to being Robin (even if there's two of them) instead of Red Robin. Red Robin just sounds so dumb and everytime I hear it, I can't help but think of the fast food chain.
Damn, man...mess with a fanboy's status quo and they go for the jugular!
Is people's hatred based on Morrison's DC work, or all of it?
I loved his JLA run. In fact, I still recomend it to people quite frequently. It's pretty much everything else that came after it that seems like a crakchead wrote it. DC's biggest mistake was letting him off of his leash and giving him free reign over their mainstream characters. He would probably work prefectly in Vertigo books though.

I'm not happy that Tim was pushed out of the role as Robin to make room for Damian. I thought he still had quite a few good years left in him as Robin and should have remained there, but he is really coming into his own as Red Robin. He has become more like Bruce that any of the other characters have and while I liked the light hearted version of Tim, I understand that circumstances and tragedies in his life have changed him. I think the loss of Bruce was the final straw that sent him down the darker path he now walks. I also believe that because of this he will be a much better successor than Dick is now or Damian ever could hope to be.

Hey! Those burgers are GOURMET!
Although, I do think of the chain when hearing his name, as well...
Batman having a son sounded great,...but that wasn't a Morrison idea.
Bruce Wayne "dying" and being replaced sounded terrible,...and it was.

Grant Morrison is the biggest hack at DC and gives Jeph Loeb a run for his money as King Hack of the Comic Industry. He pays little to no attention to continuity even within his own stories. The only good Grant Morrison Batman story is Arkham Asylumn and that was over 20 years ago.
To each his own, I guess.
You forgot the JLA arc when Ra's al-Ghul used Batman's own tactical plans to take out the JLA.
I'm against multiple Batmen even if the story is amazing. If it's good in the back of my mind I'll be thinking about how much I don't like that there's more than one! :-s
Dick Grayson is my fav Comic Hero and frankly he shouldn't be Batman.
There are reasons Dick stopped being Robin, in the first place, he and Bruce don't agree on certain crime fighting techniques. At the End of the day Bruce Wayne is Batman, Dick knows it, Tim knows it, Everyone does. To a certain extent Bruce is the only person willing to do the things batman needs to be able to do. Dick will not be willing to do those things (no incapable just unwilling)
Dick is Nightwing. He has done things Bruce wouldn't have done. There are certain subtle changes in his attitude over the years that show is is becoming More like Bruce in the Batman plan for everything kind of way. (Accordng to His time in the Outsiders he keeps Kryptonite in a lead box on his person at all times...) But all that does is make him the best Substitute for Bruce, but not for long periods of time. If Dick stays Batman it will hurt his Character.
Unless He is the Batman for Team of the DCU, like he is the Batman in the JLA and Outsiders. Staying close to his friends should keep him from sliding into the abyss that ate Bruce up long ago.

I believe it.
Guy ruined the X-Men, then left in a crybaby huff and went to DC.
I'm glad I'm not a DC fan. But I feel bad for you guys that are.
I bet him and JMS pal around and whine about working for Marvel.

Indeed. The guy's stuff would be great.... as elseworld tales.
You give him control of the main universe though, and he breaks all the toys.
