Iron Man had disappeared with that god into a cavern of lava; Ant-Man and Wasp had been knocked out; Moon Knight's silver uniform was streaked with red stains fromthe vicious troll attacks -- but Wanda, the Scarlet Witch refused to surrender. She had faced long odds before, confronting the Atlanteans on her own after Iron Man, Wonder Man, and Hawkeye had been knocked out (way back in WCA #1 of July 2005). At least here, she could still hear Simon, which meant he had not been defeated.
SHe decided she would fight, and loosed a hex bolt at one of the smaller rock trolls. It still had its hands to its ears and was an easy target. Wanda knew, however, that the Avengers were badly outnumbered...
- Scarlet Witch attacks Rock Troll 'Brach' (in D13) > 9 vs 15 > roll: 1+4=5 MISS; Scarlet Witch makes use of her own PC > re-roll: 5+1=6 HIT; Rock Troll 'Brach takes 2 damage.

Hawkeye and Mockingbird immediately perceived from Tigra's stance and gestures that they had to be quiet. Tigra snuck forward and looked up into the main room of Hera's temple again. Pluto and the goddess were trading blows, although Tigra wasn't sure if it was a lovers' spat or truly a divine conflict. Either way, their power dwarfed hers, and she tried to remain out of sight.

Wonder Man saw that the trolls had surrounded the higher ground, where Wanda and Moon Knight had taken their positions. They had little chance to put up much of a fight against so many powerful opponents. Simon knew that he had to protect his friends if he had any hope of helping Wasp and Ant-Man, both of whom had been knocked senseless by these vicious trolls. He flew up the hill and grabbed a boulder on the way, prepared to use it as a weapon.
"Simon," Wanda said with obvious relief when he landed next to her. She had not had a clear line of sight to Wonder Man and did not know that he was still uninjured. "I don't know what to do against so many..."
Moon Knight grunted through his pain. "We'll need to come up with an escape plan. We can't count on capricious gods to help us."
- Wonder Man flies to G13, grabbing the LO in F14 on the way.
Scarlet Witch will use PC on the first successful attack roll for which you need a 7 or more, unless it's the only attack roll you can make in your turn - then she'll use PC...

She maneuvered around her opponents as quickly as she could, but she knew that her struggle would be difficult...

As Mockingbird and Hawkeye advanced through the temple, they did their best to avoid Pluto's gaze, but they couldn't help but be witnesses to a strange spat. Pluto and Hera had descended into a fight, a conflict between normally immortal beings that held all the qualities of a Jarry Sproingt show.
"Unhand me!" Hera shouted. She dealt Pluto a fierce slap, but Pluto seemed impervious to the blow.
Pluto was, however, getting angry. "Dear sister-in-law," he began, his voice exuding sarcasm, "you will soon see the benefits to a... to an alliance with me."

( ... with Sersi getting knocked out, it looks like we can reduce the number of maps in play, as she was the last Avenger in the Agora, right?... that's sort of a shame because I was thinking about how to incorporate her role as Ulysses' Circe into the narrative... )

The monstrous rock trolls were bearing down on the three remaining Avengers: Wonder Man, Scarlet Witch, and Moon Knight. Wasp and Ant-Man had been ruthlessly knocked unconscious, and Moon Knight was seriously injured.
At the same time, it seemed that the heroes’ attempt to draw the trolls up onto the mountainside has succeeded. Outnumbered, the Avengers would likely be best served by resorting to a tactical retreat. “If we hurry,” Moon Knight said to his teammates, “we might be able to do an end around and still help Ra by obtaining the magical Rod.” He summoned the last vestiges of his strength and leapt down the steep incline, shouting, “Follow me!”
Wonder Man looked up toward the ugly face of the huge rock trolls rapidly approaching. Its expression was one of aggression. “He’s right, Wanda,” Wonder Man said, “we should go.” He put his left arm around the slim waist of the Scarlet Witch and readied for flight.
Suddenly, the strongest and biggest of the rock trolls grabbed his other arm in a grip like a vice. Despite his ionically powered might, Wonder Man was unable to break away.
Just then, a booming voice filled the air, and it resounded in the heroes’ heads, too. “Behold! He is remade!” An armored form rose slowly dramatically out of a nearby pool of molten lava.
The Scarlet Witch’s face changed from a look of fearful anticipation to one of surprised hope. “It’s Iron Man!” she exclaimed. It was incredible that his armor could withstand the awesome heat of the lava.
Higher up the mountain, Hephaestus reappeared and raised his right hand, palm outward. “What was once ‘iron’ is now much more,” the god declared imperiously. “This is my War Machine, intended for glorious battle, created on my divine forge of mortal technology and godly ingenuity. Now, go forth, and see to it that Ares is put in his place. He does not belong on the throne of Olympus.”
Inside the armor, Jim Rhodes smiled. He had never felt this powerful, this comfortable within the Iron Man suit. He felt no hint of the headaches or blurry vision, from which he had so often suffered when fighting as Iron Man. It was, however, more than raw power that he perceived, for there was a graceful fluidity inherent to the suit, something circuitry alone could never achieve.
Rhodey quickly perceived that his friends needed help and he thought, ‘Let’s see what this baby can do.’ With an almost effortless motion, Rhodey raised his arms and fired at a huge troll on the mountainside. < SHOOOOSH > An awesome blast struck the troll solidly. Rhodey smiled again, but his smile faded quickly as he registered the danger his compatriots were still in.

Hawkeye, Tigra, and Mockingbird continued their secretive advance through Hera’s temple. They could hardly believe that these immortal beings were essentially engaged in a slap fight. At the same time, all three of the heroes knew how fortunate they were that these gods had not yet noticed them.
