Hey, I know I'm kinda new to this discussion, but I might be interested in giving it a whirl. What do I have to do to get onboard, and what times are we proposing to throw down?
And another question: I'm considering the JLA or Batman Teams, but what about spill-over members? For example, Oogie already has Nightwing on his Titans team, so would I not be allowed to choose Nightwing for my Batman team? And if somebody took Batman for a Bats Team, would the JLA not get a crack at him? Sorry if this has been answered and I missed it...
And the rule on only choosing from the first sets (IC or HT) - is this a hard-ruling, or player's choice? I mean, one might have an idea for a Green Lantern Corps, but if all youcan pull is John Stewart from the IC set, then you're sort of discouraged. And Legion/Mystics have nobody in the first set, while JSA only has one guy. Just looking for clarifications for the sake of working team choice out, if you'll have me.
well ive worked out a tentative xmen team or jla...and a "defender" team....i only chose from the first two sets. let me know RB...
and lightshear...my guess is unless the character is damaged and leaves the team because of it...(see the rules) he is unavailable. there is only one batman after all
and i should point out...my xman team leaves it open for a 2nd xman team...

Hey Lightshear, if you decide to jump on, welcome aboard! I was hoping that once we started playing, some more people would come.
To get onboard, all you basically need is your team. We play at a very relaxed pace, which means basically whenever we're on the computer. This may create some gaps at some points, but it'll give you a chance to take a break from it, and me to plan some more story arcs. So, in short, whenever you feel like it.

Well, first off, I'd recommend the JLA team, since Batman has fewer prospects for expansion. I know, I know; building a Batman theme team is fun, but I'll bet that you'd end up having more fun in the long run (if we ever get there) with the JLA (besides, we need someone to fill that).
As for people being on two teams, not having a Batman team really simplifies that (since it's mostly Batman characters that would be in that position), but I'd say that the rule would be no. The whole thing with Achievement Points, and the very minute chance of death or injury (to the character, not the player ) would be a pretty tough knot to untie when a guy was on two teams. Although, we could have it that a character was active in two teams, but could only be active in one per story arc (three issues, usually). You'd probably then just rotate with the other team. But that would only be in special cases like Batman.

Yeah, this is gonna have to be a hard and fast rule. I think it'll kind of be fun, to have heroes and villains steadily coming into the HC RPSC universe instead of just all being there.
The reason it has to be hard and fast is that all players will exist in the same world. If Deathstroke has come into the game for Oogie's Titans campaign, he's there for yours as well, and vice versa. So it has to be uniform.
So, yeah, I guess you can't have a GL, Mystics, or JSA team, but at least with you and Clixhunter, we'll have four of the biggest teams in Heroclix covered.
So, with all that, you still interested?
What with these new players possibly joining, I thought now would be a good time to add some new rules.
First off, I've added some ways for characters to get IAP even though they only have a certain power and not much combat ability (like Jean Grey, for instance).
• If a character TK’s a character who subsequently (in the same turn), makes a successful attack, the TKing character gets one IAP (but no TAP).
• If a character uses Defend to successfully stop an attack, the character gets one IAP (but no TAP).
• If a character uses Probability Control successfully, they get one IAP (but no TAP).
• When a character Mind Controls an enemy to attack another enemy, the controller gets the IAP and TAP for that attack.
• When a character with Support heals a friendly character, he gets IAP and TAP equal to the amount of clicks healed.
Also, I've been thinking about the Retreat rule. In the home game I'm progressively playing to continuously test these rules, it just hasn't been working for me. The idea is that the losing team might be able to recover with a little of their team left instead of every game being a complete knock out.
Retreat
After ten turns, the team with fewer victory points attempts to make the best of a bad situation and leave. Any characters that are not based by an enemy can take an action and leave the map immediately. The GM will decide if the others should try to run, or if they should fight their way out.
So basically, those that aren't tied down disappear, and the others probably will end up fighting it out. Still not quite what I'm looking for, but that's how it'll have to be until I get a better idea. Does anybody have one?

Close, but not quite. The sets that are in play right now are Hypertime and Infinity Challenge. I guess I said that the first two sets were in play, and you took that to mean the first two of both DC and Marvel. I meant the first of both, totalling two. Sorry.
Well, it ruins your origin idea (I hate it when that happens!), but Prof X will fit in White Queen's absence. He's not as good, I'm sure.
:disappoin I hope this doesn't ruin your attitude toward me forever.
no..ill redo the team.. itll take me a small bit of time to do but first chance i get....yeah i did think you guys were talking about the first two of each universe....no biggee.
white queens out...prof x...or jean grey is in...have to look and think of a dif. back story.

Alright, I guess it's Heroclix: RPSC 1.1b now. I did some thinking, and I realized there's an error in the IXP/TXP system. For those who care, here's what happened:
In the original system, I had people getting less IAP than TAP (they earned TAP the same way, but only got one IAP for a successful hit, no matter how much damage was incurred). So TAP to IAP was about a 3-1 ratio. But now it's different. The problem is that when a character levels up, it costs twice the difference between the two versions in TXP, twice as much as the IXP it takes. Therefore, since IAP and TAP are now on a 1-1 ratio, if everyone on a team leveled up, it would cost them double the TXP they have.
So here's what I'm gonna do. First off, a character can level up by paying the difference of the two versions in TXP (not double, like it was before). Still, that only gives each team enough TXP to level up their characters; it leaves no surplus to get any of the other nifty stuff I spent so long thinking of. So the new rule is that when you KO or capture an enemy, you get TAP equal to one-fifth his point value (rounded up), plus the base number (2 for KO, 4 for capture). Like, in his Titans game, Oogie KO'd Man-Bat. Hawk would get seven points; five for the five clicks of damage, and two for the KO. The team would get twelve. Five for the damage, and seven for the KO. (Man-Bat is twenty-three points. Divided by five, rounded up is five, plus the base two.) Therefore, since levelling up requires a number of TAP equal to IAP earned, that five will be the surplus that can go to other nifty things.
Here's the Achievement Points rules restated:
Achievement Points
There are two kinds of Achievement Points, Individual Achievement Points (IAP), and Team Achievement Points (TAP).
Individual Achievement Points are earned as follows:
• Each time a hero makes a successful attack against a successful attack against an enemy character (including non-damage inducing attacks such as Incapacitate), they get one achievement point for every click of damage dealt.
• Each time a hero KO’s an enemy character, they get two achievement points in addition to the points gained from the successful attack.
• Each time a hero captures an enemy character (see below, CAPTURING ENEMIES), they get four achievement points.
• Heroes can also get additional achievement points with upgrades to their training room (see below, HEADQUARTERS IMPROVEMENTS).
Team Achievement Points are earned as follows.
• Each time a hero makes a successful attack against a successful attack against an enemy character (including non-damage inducing attacks such as Incapacitate), they get one achievement point for every click of damage dealt.
• Each time a hero KO’s an enemy character, they get achievement points equal to one fifth the KO’d character’s point value, plus two.
• Each time a hero captures an enemy character (see below, CAPTURING ENEMIES), they get two fifths the KO’d character’s point value, plus four.
Okay, I know this was really confusing, but it'll get easier once there are more real examples. And besides, I'm the one who'll be doing all this math anyway.

It's cool that you're working so much on a backstory. It makes my job easier.
Back Story: When Professor X took in the wayward mutant girl Rogue, and the feral Beserker Wolverine...a schism occured within the ranks of the X-men. Had Prof X lost his mind? taking a known member of the brotherhood in...and offering protection to someone hunted by the canadian government...only his most loyal supporter stayed on...Scott Summers; Cyclops. This was a new beginning for the children of the atom...a new X-Team....

Okay, I officially lay claim to the JLA. I'm assuming I've got 200 TXP to work with , to start, though I read somewhere in here that there might have been a bit more if we decided on only first-set-availability. Meh. I'll go with 200, and if I've got extra, let me know.
R Aquaman - 27 (*Leader)
R Batman - 85
R Robin - 17
R Booster Gold - 28
R Plastic Man - 40
Total: 197
TXP Remaining: 3
The story: In an ever-growing catastrophy, the JLA has been forced to take an extened leave. The heaviest hitters - the cosmic-level forces - have gone to form a bulkhead against this galactic threat, that it may be stopped before even encountering our solar system. However, a contingent of Leaguers, led by Aquaman, with Batman as their trainer and driving force, have remained to safeguard the Earth, itself. These days are lived in the shadow of a potentially apocalyptic war, but the League is ever vigilant, and ever watchful. Earth will not be consumed by any threats from within, even as the space-bound league protects it from the threats from without.
I figure this way if I recruit new guys, they can just be returning from space, either because their role was no longer needed, or because they are having a "guard change" or whatever. Plus, it alludes to some gathering threat - one which may or may not have agents involved on the ground. I like throwing that sort of stuff into my backgrounds in RPGs so the DM can run with them, use them, or ignore them completely, whatever. I've DMed myself enough that I appreciate any input players might give me, so I thought I'd add that story stuff . Also, I included Robin - who isn't a League member in any version - but I hoped it would be alright, since he's less than half my team, as the rules stated. If there's a problem with him, I'll just pick up a medic or something.
The rule about non-team members being less than half your team applied to recruits. The original members have to have the TA in some version. Sorry.
But hey, the Huntress is only one more point, and she's got the TA.
And yes, I do very much appreciate you doing a good backstory. I was thinking about doing some global uprising of villains to explain all the teams; this is good. I'll probably do a lot with this, though maybe not all the time.
Oh yeah, and welcome aboard officially.
I'll try to have the opening story posts for you and Clixhunter's first fights tonight, so you can get started on your Heroclix Role-Playing Strategy Campaign! (Musical flourish.)
