I will run the Cost Downs...I need to get them. Soul Exchange, now that I hadn't thought about. I'm running a total of 4 level 5 tributes, you think I should run Soul Exchange with that amount?
Greets DMU! Congrats on your EXCELLENT showing for us Fiendish Duelists everywhere! DEFINITELY run Soul Exchange! Especially with all the tribute monsters. I keep it in, as well as Change of Heart just because of the help they have with my tributes.
Right now I'm running 6 tribute monsters (Ha Des, Mefist, Summoned Skull x2, Helpoemer, Marie the Fallen One) and Soul Exchange helped me out a lot this past weekend (massive Yu-Gi fest with some family and a pair of decks).
Granted, I'm offsetting this high amount by having 3 Skull Knight #2s and I'm really only using Marie as a tribute for my Magic Jammer/Tribute to the Doomed/Raigeki Break to get a quick and easy 200 point recycler, but it helps immensely.
I'm sorry to hear Ectoplasmer wasn't going too well for you. I think Ecto might have to be a focus deck instead of a blessed occurance in a fiend deck just because it will take at least 3 cards to make it start flowing (Ecto and Pair of dolls).
Kudos again DMU! I hope we can really get your deck up to its ultimate for nationals.
Hey Dragon-Reborn...didn't want to leave you hangin'....
For fiend control/beatdown, I'd stick to TT/ROD. I'd only run Return from Different Dimension if you were focusing on a RFP deck....which I'm going to hit up soon so I'll let you know any insights I come across.
As for TT vs. ROD....oooh, that's tricky. I think that depends on what your deck better utilizes. If you're keeping good dibs on your monsters, then flushing a batch of them out won't hurt you too much. On the other hand, if you're doing a lot of LP recycling or something like that, then ROD will be your best bet.
Hope this helps!
Oh, question for you all. I was going through my extra card archives, plus the ones I merged with my bro-in-law this weekend, and I have an additional 3 Mefists, MUCH to my great surpirise and joy (I might be able to trade one our to a fellow Fiendish Duelist Member if they're intersted)
This brought up the question: Should I swap out one of my two Summoned Skulls for Mefist, or keep things the way they are? With my pair of Axe of Despair's, I had the uncanny luck of Having Mefist out on my second turn wreaking 2800 trample and hand disruption to finish a round of REALLY fast.
I also tend to run a higher amount of tributes in my fiend deck than any other deck I have created so far. In my current deck I have 2 Mefist, 1 Byser(well I don't tribute for him much) as well as 2 dark necrofears. The only time I can really say I have a problem with the amount of tributes is when I have 2 in my starting draw.
I love Byser Shock and Mefist, but I would also like to really run lesser fiend as well...each having kick-### effects and also being lvl 5. I haven't tried Hades yet, but I have to attempt using the king of fiends right? I've managed to keep up with this thread the whole time...all 1000(almost) pages or so and Skull knight #2 kept popping up, but I never had the guts to try it, but I might just have to real soon.
Also I remember when I think Waldo(?) brought up the idea of using d.d. trainer and order to smash. I tested this for quite sometime along with Emissary of the Afterlife(3 trainers, 1 or 2 emissary) and I found my deck to be incredibly fast at bringing out Dark Necrofear. The trainer also worked wonders with metamorphosis. The only problem I encountered was with order to smash, I just never got to use its full potential in destroying 2 m/t. And a lot of times it was a dead draw....definately gonna be good side deck material though.

Thanks, Dilie :)
Right now, I'm leaning toward T.T., so that if my opponent summons something to attack my Defense Position Orcs, I can just use T.T. to clear the field and get some Necrofood. I might drop something else for Ring though, I'll just have to see how the deck performs. I've never really used Necrofear as the main focus of a deck before, so I'm still learning :)
dragon-reborn: In a Necrofear deck, I'd say Torrential Tribute would be your best bet, like everyone says, having fiends in the graveyard is not a bad thing, but it sure will be for your opponent :devious:
Dillie-O: I would rather run Mefist because the effect is so great. Summoned Skull is very hard to take out with its whopping 2500 ATK, but in my metagame I don't see monsters last for more than 2 turns. And from my point of view I would have rather done 3600 and 2 cards from their hand than 5000.

Gah! You FOUND me!!! *where's my calomine lotion?* I remember that duel. Burned me to to high hell. SO wassup? Why don't you come around Neutral and play? I'm there every weekday from 5pm - 6:30pm. Stop by anytime.
unfortunately, im stuck all the way in riverdale and i really have no means to get to neutral grounds. Ah well, maybe we'll meet again at the RDS pre release or at the regionals in N.Y.
Back on topic: hmm, are there any good fiends in RDS that would be widely used?
Anyway, for those that care about Prolink's Misadventures, I'm switching up my Archfiend deck for a more agro strategy. So far I've been playing half board control, half agro, but the agro has been shining in my eyes a bit recently, and I haven't done anything beatdown like in a while, maybe playing a simpler deck is what I need to give my mind a break anyway.
But if only I had a Mefist to add to those Rush Recklessly....

Thanks, Dilleo. The deck worked pretty well over all...but I was trying to do too much with it, alas.
And the tourny wasn't Regionals, I'm up in WA and we're not sure when we'll have ours. It would have been this coming weekend except for the Rise of Destiny preview. I've heard dates in January for ours. Gah. More waiting...but thanks for the kudos anyway. I've got a box tourny this Saturday that I'm gearing up for...who knows, it might be for a box of Rise of Destiny even...
How many total Mefists would you run? I love the thought of 3 with 2 Axes present and ready for the 2800 trampler. It's just...nasty. I would rather have that effect than a SS equipped with an Axe...cause a Magic Cylinder could just kill you.
Btw, I'll be posting my deck for Saturday in the Lair, it's something I like the to call "The Fiendish Trample".
I wouldn't run more than two, even if my deck was based around him. Well, actually, if it was, maybe I would, but that's the only case. Running two seem to be the safe amount, and if you're mixing tributes, one-two is the way to go.
Pat yourselves in the back guys. This thread is officially THE biggest and most POWERFUL thread the Realms has EVER seen!!!
Today, I was at my store, Neutral Ground, and I faced a post-ban Chaos deck, and it was pretty sad.
This Sat and Sun, I changed my Deck into a more aggresive version of itself. Giant Orc, go for Slate Warrior's flip effect, Summoner of Illusions special summons Master of Oz and it's IMT'ed or Dimensionholed, 2 Barrel Behind the Doors and 1 Ring of Destruction for those BIG hits, the works.
You know, beyond Beatdown.
Fiendown!
The duelist was OK. But my deck just kept giving me good hands. CONSTANTLY!!! I just let the savageness go out of control in the deck.
I always got a 2 or 5 when rolling for Terrorking.
Attack directly with Orc, Ring + Barrel on it.
Mefist was deadly. Never left the field. Rush Recklessly and Wicked Breaking made sure of that.
It was almost pathetic.
Tonight, I'll remove some cards and add some Last Wills, Winged Minions, Skull Knight #2s, you know.... tech cards.
RDS won't see ANY Fiends...AT ALL!!! (that I know of)
However, there IS a card that, in my opinion anyways, SHOULD be in EVERY Fiend deck.
Avatar of the Creator
Light/Warrior/4/1600/1500
You can tribute this card to Special Summon 1 "The Creator Incarnate" from your hand.
The Creator Incarnate
LIGHT/Thunder/8/2300/3000 Select 1 Monster from your Graveyard. Send 1 card from your hand
to the Graveyard, and Special Summon the selected Monster. This
effect can only be used once per turn during your Main Phase.
This card cannot be Special Summoned from the Graveyard.
(or something like that)
This card is good, but discarding one card? If only there were a way to avoid discarding so much...
*coughNightAssailantcough*!!!
This is pretty much infinite Monster Reborns for us.
I mean, THINK about it!!!
I'll tribute Giant Orc to Summon Dark Ruler Ha Des, I'll discard 1 Archfiend Soldier, to Special summon Giant Orc in attack mode, I'll remove 3 Fiends to Special Summon Dark Necrofear.
With The Creator, Painful Choice will be the BEST card in the game. UBER deadly for Fiends. Fiend decks will be dumping Fiends in the graveyard, playing Cost Downs like NOTHING, knowing full well that their graveyard is the deadliest weapon they have.
I can't WAIT!!!!!!!!
