I'm fairly mortified (no pun intended) that they are bringing back Kal-L as a Black Lantern, as it just seems like they want to continually drag the character through the mud. I'd have rather they stayed in paradise considering what's happened to all em them since they broke free.
However, maybe something good can come of it. I dunno. I'm skeptical.
That is what I've always hated about superheroes-used-as-zombies storylines. They inevitably reduce either a great character or at least someone who was intended to be a great character into shambling cannon fodder for heroes.
The use of Kal-L as a Black Lantern seems to compound the great insult that Infinite Crisis was to the world's first superhero.
Also mortifying to me - the befuddling opinion that keeps popping up all over the place about people who think Superbaby Prime ought to be rehabilitated and used as a hero. Personally, I'd take a pass on having DC's worst mass-murderer as a potential love interest for Wonder Girl.
...now, if we can just get Professor Pyg confirmed.

At least in IC, when he died, it was a good death.

SB-Prime is NOT the worst mass-murderer in DC history. That honor goes to the Anti-Monitor, who wiped out numerous universes whereas Prime wiped out one, with accidental help from Monarch, and even so, that universe was recreated. So, while I don't argue SB-Prime is a mass murderer, I will argue he is is not the worst.
And, I'm with you on the idea of him and Wonder Girl being an item. That's just silly enough to be a Joephisto idea along the lines of the "Sins Of The Past" storyline.

I think the above is pretty debatable. I didn't see that as a good death; I thought it was kind of horrific and nowhere nearly as heroic a death as, say, Barry Allen was given.
You have a point about mass-murderers, though. I could amend my statement and propose he is DC's worst mass-murderer, if you include only those who directly commit the murders without the aid of henchmen, soldiers, or cosmic powers. All-in-all, he's certainly amongst the most hideous characters ever published in a DC comic.

Oh, I agree, and that's the point of him, which is why I don't necessarily mind him that much when he appears.
I'm still puzzling over why Polar Boy and company went to get one of Luthor's hairs. I mean, obviously for DNA... but for what purpose?

Well Black Adam killed every man, woman and child in Bialya by hand (think about that) and there are still fans willing to give him a pass too.
I think BA's a well written character, but you could never redeem him after what he did. I'd argue Superboy's less rounded (on purpose) and even less redeemable.
Part of the problem with these heinous acts in fiction is economy of scale. Once villains are wiping out whole nations and planets, readers begin failing to see the acts with the same impact as smaller scale murders with identifiable victims. It's a weird phenomenon, and not just in comics. For example look at "Star Wars", where Darth Vader wipes out a whole planet of innocents in the first film, but by the end of the third, the audience buys into his redemption.
Just from what I know about the post-CoIE 'Prime' (Infinite Crisis, Lo3W) as a character, he's totally beyond redemption. His 'motivation' for his actions has been incredibly poorly established..essentially his motivation has been one extended temper tantrum...and when you consider the sheer scale of death he's enacted with his own hands it's not as if a writer just shrug it off and have the character come to some magical revelation how his actions were wrong.
Superboy Prime was never really an established character, and the treatment of him since his reappearance since Infinite Crisis essentially was just an extended insult to Elliot S Maggin...so there won't be any fans clamoring for his return if the character opts for the "Phoenix on the Moon" self-destruction solution.

The war with Superboy Prime and the Legion of Super Villains is a psychological one as well as a physical one. Thats why Brainy recruited the Legions of multiple universes. Thats why they recruited Sodam Yat. Thats why they resurrected Kid Flash. And that is why they are going to create a new clone of Connor Kent with Lex Luthor and Superman's DNA.

That makes quite a bit of sense, actually.

Or to quote Josef Stalin, "The death of one man is a tragedy. The death of millions is a statistic."

I've always felt different.
The death of one man is a tragedy. The death of millions is a million tragedies.

I Agree. Kal-L is too iconic to be use like that, I even don't like him a lot bringing him back in Infinite Crisis, it was too risky, and some people think he can be manipulate or can be evil because of that. It's too dangerous to use a "holly" characters for fans like Him. The idea is interesting, but they are playing with big guns, it's a risky move. I hope they do this with respect, but looking in Sinestro Corps war they put a lot of respect in Prime, Anti-Monitor, Parallax and Cyrborg Superman, and make them even better, if Kal-l will return in that way, and his memory as Hero can become better, that would be good.
Let's see what happen. Because the ONLY reason of why I dislike Kal-L is because HEROCLIX MAKE A FREAKING CHASE FIG WITH HIM!!
And Carlos can vouch for how much it bothers me to see Kal-L turned into a Black Lantern as he has experience with my viewpoint on Kal.
"Nobody important? That's amazing. You know, in 900 years of traveling time and space I've never met someone who wasn't important."

Oooo! I hadn't thought of that.
Good deal!

They're only making him a Black Lantern because you got recruited by the Anti-Monitor in that game.
