Obviously a direct quote of the PM is forbidden but there is a ton of gray area after that. Subtle wording speaks volumes and it's hearsay. I can say it all I want and I think the modkill is there when a player resorts to posting the role instead of arguing the point.

I'm going to disagree (good to do this here and not in a game).

Yes, if a person Copy/Pastes, that is the *obvious* Modkill offense.

However, if Player A asks Player B to quote a specific part of their role, and they don't (or they do but not include the "evidence" Player A was looking for), then Player A leads the lynch on the grounds: "See, if you were Town, you'd know our Win Condition specifically says X". That is the problem area.

Player A should not have done it. But can you modkill them for it? They didn't Copy/Paste, but the essence of the rule was specifically broken, IMHO.

I agree with Darq on this one. I knew my role's powers had neat names to them. I knew Rokk's did and a whole bunch of other folks because I asked when masoned. I think that's why I so blatantly asked in thread. I was was asking in PMs and just carried that over to the thread not thinking, "uh, no-no, not in thread". I was doing it for the exact reason Darq says we shouldn't.

I'm grateful IR didn't modkill me and that I wasn't playing in a Darq game when I did it.
And I'm glad people called me out on it when I did it. It was a good reminder and it was good to set me straight.

Oh yeah, well I'm going to start up a game, explicitly invite you to join, then modkill you first thing for the violation in I_R's game! Now who's too soft, JoH???

Interesting topic, but as others have said, there is a lot of gray area. Not gonna discuss it much, but I think often the weaker players are pushed to sorta quote their role by all others. Great discussion for after hybridity.
