What a fun way of doing a low cost Rogue without simply reducing her to a flying brick.
By focusing on her early iconic weaknesses, you both reduce cost and add to her theme-y flavor. I especially like Can't Control Powers, the "Knocked back into Rogue" is a great little piece of X-men history.
Absorb Personalities, the meat of this interpretation, clear & concise getting the point across in a fun action packed package.
Oh and I couldn't resist including this.
I can attest that Cypher's translation is spot on!
Yes. His translation is most definitely spot on. What's so funny My wife and I were just explaining to our children over dinner how words and phrases derive their meaning from context, and she used the 'bless your heart' as an example.*
I really wanted a slimmed down Rogue since I just went all indepth with her last set. This is the cheap version of rogue. It represents her early days of leading with her head. Even though this period was when she transitioned from being the confused young punk to the seasoned vet, this design fits the set better. It let me focus on her weaknesses.
That might be my favorite under 100 point Cyclops ever. I really want to run that dial.
Its got all the bells and whistles I want out of Scott with tons of flavor.
The whole Ruby Quartz Visor/Brain Damage interplay is beautiful and throwing in the emergency Ruby Quartz Glasses just makes it even more comic accurate.
Force Beams, hehehe, go ahead and take cover behind that blocking terrain Scott doesn't mind.
Optic Blasts, a great way to make sure Scott can maintain the cannon part of his classic glass-cannon status.
Give him some backup to make sure that he doesn't get picked off or based and he'll be the backbone of your ranged offense.
This would have worked better with your last iteration off Scott, but it made me smile and it features the Summers boys.
I can't be the only one who felt this way about Vulcan.

Poor Walter, he handled far more than his fair share of body horror & drama with an aplomb and grace seldom seen in comics characters.
Gamma irradiated into a giant orange hirsute monster "How cool is this", turns out he's actually possessed by an elder god of carnage and slaughter "Okay, remain calm", stuck in an robot "Hey at least I'm not dead anymore!", mystic sex change "Hey I'M HOT....also is Aurora/ Jeanne-Marie going to be "okay" with this?".
How many of us could say we'd roll with those kind of changes without a complete meltdown.
Lets face it Langkowski's real superpower is being confident in who he is. Banner, Grimm and all the on again off again transformed heroes could stand to take some notes. If he ever wrote a book about his experiences it would have the most awesomely click-bait title in history.
I like Perplex on Langkowski, it a great way to show that he was the thinking man's behemoth and a scientist to boot.
I also like how his Defense plummets as he begins to lose himself and no longer cares about survival only causing as much destruction as possible as Tanaraq begins to assert his control.
Question,Losing Control does require the opponent to already have had Mind Control, yes?
"Nick-knack Tanaraq, Walter's really boned, this Great Beast is a clawed cyclone!"
Tanaraq, interesting, there are possibilities here. I'm going to have to think how this could best be turned to the controlling players advantage.

I've been busy - and just lurking - but this is a design we would never get from WK.
So much passion and knowledge wrapped into this - may be one of the most interesting dials I've ever seen. As I read through it, all I see is flashes of panels from the comics - like when Walter was choking Aurora with her scarf.
Wow.
Visible Dials and Pushing Damage need to be optional. This is the way.
I figured with 4 square move, he should be able to make the attack no longer legal (moving way form a close attack for example). This maybe a little too nuanced and I should just make the entire shape change work on a 4-6.
I would suggest letting it succeed on a 4-6, allow him to be placed up to 4 squares away, and on a 6, the attacker is given an action token and may not be given a new target, to represent the times when an enemy would fire harmlessly into the cloud of brimstone Kurt left behind?
That might be my favorite under 100 point Cyclops ever. I really want to run that dial.

Thank you for the complement. Best <100 Cyclops is actually saying a lot. There are some pretty dang good ones out there.
This really is a progression from the Prime in my last set. What was hard was trying to translate the visor as a weakness in game. The problem I had was it seems the visor makes his optic blast considerably more powerful and weakness only plays in the outside of combat world. So I had to lean heavily on the 'i grabbed your visor' trick (I have a Storm just itching to pull that one off on old scotty ).
To play on the weakness, I decided to limit his RCE and give him the EE and RCE as RANGE to drive the point home that the visor may give you some range, you'd rather be without it in game. Of course, the reason behind the WEAKNESS mechanic has yet to be revealed. (though I imagine it's fairly obvious how it will play out if you've read the mini-series).
RE: Vulcan - exactly. 2x4's -- that's hilarious.

Losing Control does not require mind control. It's suppose to be as if he were hit by opponent's mind control. I just wanted to piggie back upon all the rules established by mind control. The ideal would be just let your opponent take an action at no cost using sasquatch once on your opponent's next turn, but you have to add all the text telling the player who he is now friends with and other BS. So, instead of reinventing the wheel, just give some auto hit MC to the opposing player. I'll see if I can't clean the wording up some.

Very good. I will make that change. Thank you for the feedback.
rogue - interesting remix of your recent dial for rogue. keeping with the incap theme, i appreciate how you've reflected the ol' accidental touch. triggering it off of kb and missed attacks feels just right and i appreciate the added touches of the no-carry and the no-heal. that feels good. or rather, you know, it wouldn't apparently
cyclops - scuba steve! i always kinda liked his simplified costume. it was bold and blue and let the visor take center stage. i appreciate the emphasis on his weakness and this set really is hammering home how much of the xmen are built around power flaws. no wonder they're feared and hated, the avengers have got it together . including the emergency glasses was cherries on top, but the highlight for me is that counterclockwise rando shot he has to make. WOW did you cross the Ts and dot those eyes with the mechanics on that one with surprisingly svelte language. the inset () was the perfect call. seriously, this was above and beyond. speaking of svelte, i enjoyed the wp flavor text. scott is keeping trim with his aerobics. it was the '80s, after all <---glasses, get it?
sasquatch - the thing that immediately jumped out at me was not his but his sp. pairing his heftier defense with the regen to get him off of it and the lowered numbers makes for an unexpected dial flow that i really dig. the chance to go wild here is incorporated two ways, and i enjoy how you're using the weaknesses throughout in these dials. the escalating bf (and lowered defense numbers) while the offense is on the rise conveys the beast lurking within trying to lurk out, and it puts a cool swing on the regen, letting it show walt trying to fight off the beast

They puns are beaming today.*see what I did there?
Both Rogue and Cyclops were re-imaginings of early versions. Both to be cheaper and weakness focused.
I love how you instantly went to the defense SP on sas. It was the cornerstone of the design. I to simulate Walter fighting against the beast inside. The regen seemed like a nice and simple way to play against dial flow with the end dial offense.
That you picked up on it so well (along with the other positive reviews) makes he feel like the dial is a success.
soooo much point denial on that last click. it just screams "enough of this, i'm outta here" and good luck chasing her down. the dial itself is fairly simple and consistent. the perks are all on her relationship with her brother. i appreciate it on her dial as opposed to his. northstar had more adventures and connections outside of alpha flight than jeanne, aside from her weapon x stint where she was more a supporting character than actual combatant if memory serves, so the wonder twins powers being on her dial makes the most sense. it's also offset by her weakness. incorporating the meek maiden was cool. good trigger for it and the effect fits. what i like most though is the gestalt power operating like it does in the books. pw tends to be cheap shorthand when they're really blinding a flash of light and that mass incap does the job in spades. well, honestly, what i like most is her deuces click on the end

Poor Jeanne-Marie, I'm actually a bit surprised that Marvel addressed some of the issues surrounding her in the 80's.
Am I the only one that kinda wished there was an issue were her brother wreaked havoc on those Nuns?
Since I'm not up on current X-Men did she ever get any help?
If played with her brother and who wouldn't she's going to zip in and needle even the toughest foes. I'd hesitate to take advantage of her attack bonus simply because it might leave her vulnerable to having her Dissociative Identity Disorder triggered.
But for my play style I think she's my preferred Alpha Flight speedster.

from one dad joker to another
If this version feels a little bland, that's because of her chase version (forthcoming). I felt like I had to tone it down. Since this is the earlier version of Aurora, I wanted it to reflect Northstar's design. I loaded her with the twin effects since her other version is the post-Walter meddling version.

Just wait until you see her chase version (was suppose to be her prime version -- so its a little insane).

oh, please don't misconstrue, my friend. i don't find it bland at all. if anything the consistency of the dial on clicks 1-5 makes the big mood swing on click 6 stand out. there's plenty of character here, even without northstar on the map
