I hear this a lot. And still don't understand how anybody (that's not a total Bat fanboy) could call what happened "outsmarted". Can Bats trick Brainy? Of course. Can he come to a correct conclusion Brainy didn't because he had much better information? Sure. None of that makes Batman smarter than Brainiac 5 however.

I let that happen for 2 reasons:

1-I did not want to change my own rules and I really don't thought they will dare to recluit Kal-L!

2- I search evey posible comic to see if Kal-L could had been mind controled OR if he was turn "evil" by mind control any time in the past. Here is the answer:
