I like the Spider Viking team. Seems like a lot of fun. Worst case you could swap out the Ferengi and the Yancy Gang bystander for Kate Pryde.
Doing a deeper dive (pun intended, argggh!) on that +5 Pirate (Spider-Man Family) build.
Ferengi Salvage Crew's primary purpose is to place one of my opponent's (preferably) special objects near my starting area to equip Namor or Ferengi Salvage Crew with. I'm pretty confident that most of my tougher opponents will play a special object of some sort. As long as, opposing Equipment-Objects have Equip (Any) and Unequip (Drop), you might as well take advantage of it. Un-equipping an opposing character's equipment is more likely to happen from a friendly character that's adjacent to Ferengi Salvage Crew, rather than, a successful attack from him, if it happens at all. Anything else is a bonus, I expect him to be one shotted into uselessness.
The Yancy Gang bystander's first job is to get the Power Gem for Wu to equip. He could be used to grab another object in turn two, but more than likely he would carry Black Beard (they share the Brute keyword) creating a double empower or be Black Beard's mastermind fodder. Spider-Viking can wildcard Underworld TA to carry Namor and Ferengi Salvage Crew.
After initially being the team's taxi, Spider-Viking's next objective is to get a close attack in ASAP (preferably) in water terrain created by Namor with Black Beard and his Yancy Gang bestie nearby, then attempt what I want to call a Wu bomb with the CALL IN HELP FROM THE SPIDER-VERSE! trait for epic damage. "If" all attacks land, after resolutions, I could LET'S CAUSE TROUBLE! from a sidelined Black Manta. Due to the place restriction, I have to remember, that I can carry for better positioning, but only after placing Wu, not before. Unfortunately, I have no quick way to get the Time Gem on Spider-Viking and this team IMHO desperately needs more than 3 TTPC's. He might be better suited to try to auto-equip a KO'd opponent's equipment. He grants everybody but, the Yancy Gang bystander the Spider-Man Family keyword.
Namor's job is token removal, a static +1 to close attacks for friendly characters that occupy water terrain and FREE water / smoke cloud, he is a tertiary attacker at best. He can carry, if needed, since he is a . Upon further review, he may be a better candidate for the Time Gem. The longer he stays alive the better, but he is a soft target out of water.
Blackbeard grants Namor and Wu the Pirate keyword. Blackbeard and Spider-Viking are the primary attackers of the team. Blackbeard's top half of his dial has: Charge, super Quake, Empower, Leadership, Shape Change, Mastermind and Invincible from the Stones of Merlin plus he grants a static +1 attack to friendly Pirates that occupy water terrain. He should be a pain in the butt, baring any Outwit.
Last, but, certainly not least, there's Wu, who already has gained the Pirate and Spider-Man Family keywords, equipped with the Power Gem. For a 25 point investment, he has the potential for a 13 attack, 5 damage Flurry in water terrain with only one empower and he's 4 clicks long.
I'm was thinking of picking 3 maps without water terrain, so I can control where water is, as long as Namor stays alive, but, that might be a little risky.
As much as I like Kate Pryde's tool kit of powers and abilities for Pirates, I feel the team has a better trick without her, just not better sustainability. If I were to cut someone for her, I would cut Spider-Viking, but, then I would lose the Wu bomb trick.
Wishing for competitive Judge Dredd figures for Modern Age...WizKids are you listening?!?!
I was only able to pull the Wu bomb off once in three attempts. However, I did win map initiative and I chose DC Metal Arena, to control where water would be. Caught my opponent a little off guard by not being able to target in water terrain, unless you are four squares away or closer.

Being able to use Professor X's switch out ability was incredibly useful.
First game was brutally one-sided. For this one I switched out D'Ken for Mystique. My opponent's team was a mish-mash with a bunch of Skinless Men and some Shi'ar, pluss a random Wolverine. I was able to outwit them with Professor X. Smasher and Warstar did most of the heavy lifting and brutalized most of the team, especially once Warstar got his free ranged attack. Professor X dodged multiple attacks, even with his 16 defense, which had both of us astounded.
Second game was a doozy. My opponent had Sebastian Shaw and some solid attackers. I took some solid hits early on and didn't think I'd be able to come back. Then I reread Shaw's card and realized that his defense power, the one that lets him revert back to his regular dial, doesn't have Protected: Outwit. Professor X proceeded to outwit Shaw which allowed Smasher to poison him to death. It felt a bit dirty. Even then though, there was quite a bit of back and forth until time was called.
Third game was much like the first one except I swapped D'Ken out for Wolverine. Blackheart ran up, missed his attack and was quickly taken out during my turn (due to positioning Blackheart couldn't generate a Shi'ar next to him for mastermind). I lost Warstar's bystander to the mystics so I wouldn't get free ranged attacks, but it was worth it. The rest of the game was me mopping up his secondary attackers and his tk unit.
TH0MAS5: The voice of reason speaks the truth. You are not just "Grunt" , you are "Super Grunt".
Werewolf kill count: 20
My next tournament is a 200-point modern age event where all the characters, including sideline, must have the Sentinel keyword, gain it during force construction or when establishing themed teams. For this event matches will take place on 2x2 maps.
I'm thinking of playing this team with the hx046.01 Team Up: Robot Themed Team team up card.
15 years and I still don't know how to post the Build Boxes, LOL
This weekend is a 500 point "Your Favorite Superhero Movie" build. Endgame and Infinity War were disqualified as being too easy so I went with my favorite DCU movie: Shazam.
Freddy and the other two guys are represented by a JLU Shazam ar 45 points each, Mary is represented by WW80 Uncommon Mary Shazam while lil Darla is the 40 point Starter Mary. Billy himself is being played by Captain Thunder.
Sidenote: my buddy asked me why I didn't pick one of the FF movies and so have an excuse to play my beloved Dr. Doom once more. I replied "Because the name of the theme is FAVORITE superhero movie."

Just get rid of the space before the ]
Here’s a fun trick I found for sharing BBCode, without needing to add spaces:
If you recolour part of the code to black, it won’t change the appearance, but it will break up the code. For example:
[QUOTE]This should be a quote, but isn’t. And this word [B]here[/B] should be bold, but isn’t.[/QUOTE]
Now the quote can be copy-pasted directly from my post, and it’ll work with no changes.
I did the visible code above like this:
[COLOR="Black"][Q[/COLOR]UOTE]This should be a quote, but isn’t. And this word [COLOR="black"][B[/COLOR]]here[COLOR="Black"][/B[/COLOR]] should be bold, but isn’t.[COLOR="black"][/Q[/COLOR]UOTE]

An even better trick is to use the [noparse] and [/noparse] tag. Any code between those tags doesn't get parsed.
