if you incapacitate a crossgen figure or wild card version which results in them taking pushing damage. does your figure have to take the click of damage for thier pushing damage. I would rule no because pushing damage is described in the rules as self inflicted even though incapacitate causes this damage. just looking for an answer on this. if you can supply specific faqs on this proving one way or the other would be appreciated.
No for several reasons:
1) Incap deals 0 damage so unless you Enhance/SHIELD the attack or roll a critical hit you don't deal any damage. (Check the PAC)
2) Push damage is not technically "damage" but is instead defined as a click of the dial. (Check the Rulebook and its Glossary)
Pushing damage is something the figure does to himself, so if you Incapacitate a MystiGen figure and they take pushing damage, you will not take any retaliation damage from them.
Quote
From the Indy PAC: CrossGen When this character takes damage from an attack, it deals 1 damage to the attacker. This damage may not be evaded or reduced.

[i]From the Universe PAC:['i] INCAPACITATE (optional): Give this character a close combat or ranged combat action. This character’s damage value becomes 0 for this attack. If this character successfully hits a target that has zero or one action token, assign an action token to the target. Incapacitate deals 1 pushing damage to a target that receives a second action token in this way. This power has no effect on characters that already have two action tokens.

From the Universe Rulebook Glossary: push/pushed Being given a second action or action token, whether due to the character being assigned a second action before its first action token is removed, or due to the Incapacitate power, or a combination of the two.
pushing damage The clockwise click that a pushed character takes. No power that reduces damage reduces pushing damage.
So pushing itself is not damage taken, so it will not cause the MystiGen to retaliate. However, if you make a critical hit, Enhance, or add SHIELD damage to your Incapacitate attack, then you WILL cause the MystiGen to retaliate.
In my day, we didn't have Heroclix. If you were being attacked by Superman with a 3d dumpster, you just had to hope you could outrun him.
