The Salem Witch Hunt game that Flyingicarus and I were playing in honor of Halloween is wrapping up a week early. So to stay in the spirit of things, another Halloween themed game...
It is Halloween in New York, and Nightmare has a plan. He has assembled a Legion of Fear to inspire terror in the hearts of the city. His hideous horde of horrors will rampage through the streets on this, of all nights. Nightmare will feed on the delicious fear, giving him enough power to conquer this dimension. But he is not unopposed. A group of heroes has assembled to stop his monstrous minions, and they must do so by Midnight...
700 point teams. All of the figures must be either monstrous in appearance or else somehow appropriate to the holiday theme. The game runs until Midnight on Halloween. Whoever has KO'd the most figures (pointwise) on the opposite team wins. Will the city be saved, or will Nightmare succed in his fiendish plot? Join us and see...if you dare....mwahahahaha!
Sorry about the melodrama. Oh, who am I kidding? No, I'm not.
I'm playing Nightmare's Legion:
U Nightmare 163
R Solomon Grundy 48
E Arcane 83
V Vampire Lackey 20
E Abomination 86
E Brood Warrior 20
V Lizard 50
U Goblin Queen 81
E Hobgoblin (universe) 37
V Skrull Warrior 17
E Man-Bat 27
R Circe 67
699 points
So we got Nightmare himself, a couple of goblins, a bat, a Frankenstein lookalike, a few creepy aliens, a witch, a vampire, two green scaly monsters and half-insectoid horror from hell. No ghosts or anyone with a pumpkin for a head, but otherwise I think I've got the bases pretty well covered.
1. A team based upon heroes who fill the Halloween role (Batman, Spider-Man etc). I'm having a slightly hard team on this but I can figure it out.
2. The idea is it's a kids party with familiar Halloween figures (a nurse, a ninja, pirate, demon, ghost etc) and these kids become those (so a ghost would become Shadowcat for example). Also don't quite have a 700 point group for this.
Let me know whichever you like and I'll pick accordingly.
Billy shut his eyes. His hands dipped into the bowl of brains his mom had waiting for him.
"Ewwwwwwwwwwww!" he screamed.
"Ewwwwwwwwww!" yelled the kids around ihm.
Halloween night at Billy Turnberry's house was a treat. His folks went all out with the requisite costumes, decorations and scary things, like the cold can of macaroni that doubled as brains.
Billy was there as his hero, Spider-Man. He'd seen the movie and was hooked. He was into Spider-Man everything: lunchboxes, stickers, Spider-Man ice cream, cereal and jammies. His mom was tired of it but being a mom, relented.
Billy's friends all came in costumes of every kind.
Best friend Rico came as a football player and given his large size seemed apt. He would be an awesome football player when he comes of age.
Sister Darlene, younger and always at his side, was a nurse this year. That was simply too boring in Billy's eye. Fine if she's a girl but at least be something interesting...like a witch or warrior princess.
Neighbor Oxana, she was a girl who knew who to pick a costume. She was a Lords of the Rings fighter girl who could give Legolas a run for his money.
Jorge came as a demon, all in blue, awesome looking costume in ever there was one, his mom started working on it after last Halloween he thought.
Chubby Jean Luc came as a skeleton. The irony did not escape the youth.
Abe was a real showman. A dramatic boy. A little odd but always entertaining (even when he was the but of the joke). He came as a magician which few self respecting boys around 8 would even think of doing. The excuse to wear a cape and carry a wand, it seemd, just overwhelemd the boy.
Lastly the were the Japanese twins, Akako and Leiko, who were relatively new to the neighborhood and obviously new to the joys of Halloween. Neither dressed up in anything more daring than the matching Catholic-school-girl-by-way-of-Japan-style dress. The quiet girls annoyed Billy at first thinking they were there for the candy and not partaking in the actual art (and he did think of it as an art)...of trick or treating. That is until they spoke to their passion of Jackie Chan films that raised them up a notch or two in his eyes.
Gathered in a room together, the parents turned out the lights and left them alone. They giggled like, well, children, as they anticipated the next scary event. Would dad dress up as a madman with straw for hair again, Billy thought?
The dark turned into a faded light. The man known as Dr. Strange appeared. He had obviously been beaten badly.
"Children..I am so sorry...but you are needed..." with a burst of power the children are no longer what they were....
Billy is now SPIDER-MAN (R) Ultimates

and I forgot a biggie
Nightmars sat on a throne made out of bones, the Goblin Queen and Circe hanging on either side of him.
"Ah my dears," he said, "stick with me and I shall grant you more power than you can imagine. Tonight is Halloween, and I plan on taking advantage of everyone's inclination to let themselves be scared this night. I shall give them something to be scared of. Monsters. Real ones. Not some latex phonies. Vampires, goblins, creepy crawly beasties, and of course," he said, cupping Circe's chin in his hand, "witches."
The demon stood to address his army. "Go now! Destroy, wreak havoc, but most importantly, scare. For it is their fear that shall feed me, the people of this city. Their fear that shall give me enough power to take over this dimension and make every night at Halloween such as they shall never forget!"
Nightmare cackled maniacally as his horde of horrors began to issue forth from the abandoned construction site that Nightmare had chosen for his base.
"Ah-ah-ah! Not so fast, spooky. You haven't even let them bob for apples yet!"
The two buildings are elevated, obviously. The cars and trucks are all hindering, as is the stack of lumber in R-T10-11, and the crane in K-L7-8. I guess the pipes in K-N4 are hindering too. The big blue water area is hindering for movement, but not for line of fire. Since the dirt pile next to the water doesn't have lines around it, I'd call it NOT hindering myself, but that's open to interpretation, I guess.
And you've got the Beast in two different positions by the way.

"So, as usual, this world's heroes turn out to spoil my plans," Nightmare observed. "It shall not be. My monstrous army isn't just for show you know. They have enough power to tear you pathetic heroes apart. Get them!"
