I was thinking about Giant Man and how there is no way to get him to move and attack in one or even two consecutive turns without pushing.
Then it occurs to me. Fastball Special. Now who can throw Giant Man? Iron Man and the Hulk. Actually, just the Hulk...or can he? He has battle fury, so no ranged combat attack. But feats override rules so I think the Hulk should be able to throw Giant Man.
Now if only you could have inv as well as toughness for the feat, then you wouldn't have to wait till Giant Man's fourth click... :P
Another thing I thought of was having Giant Man throw the Hulk. That works out better I think. Of course, you can always just TK the Hulk...
Also, I suppose you could have Giant Man throw another Giant Man, but that's just silly.
if youre going for just mutant mayhem figs then that sounds good, i dont know the rules for it but it makes sense to me. otherwise i just realized i can pair rookie hellboy with experienced lobster johnson to make an indy fastball special.

Actually, the only thing I was going for was having someone picking up Giant Man and flinging his rear end across the board. The rest was just rambling thought byproduct.
But I have the sense to recognize that I don't know how to let you go...
Try Thor( from CT!!!), and hercules
Those two may work out pretty good they can both throw each other. Also, if you select a wild card, and a character with toughness and a team ability( wolvie, sabertooth, doc ock, ETC....)
so many different choices...... hard to decide. We had another mutant mayham booster draft today... i combined spiderman and cable. worked out pretty good
Unfortunately, without some Perplex to drive Ult.Hulk's damage down you won't be throwing him much. His Toughness is only on clicks 2, 10 & 11... with dmg 4, 4 & 3 respectively. Hulk would definitely have to be the 'thrower'.

i thought that the pre-requisite for the fastball special was that both characters had to have the same team ability. the card reads "chosen characters must have the same team ability printed on their bases". i.e. wolverine and colossus, or thor and hercules. im just going by what the card says, maybe im behind the times. if push comes to shove, bring hair10 in here and have him explain it to us. that is what he gets paid for anyways.

from the Fastbal Special Entry
Choose two characters; if one of them is KOd before this feat is used, remove the feat from the game.
Give both characters a power action when they are adjacent: The first character must have Super Strength and the second character must be grounded and have Toughness and may not have a damage value higher then 3. The first character makes a ranged combat attack against a single opposing target within 6 squares. Place the second character in any square adjacent to the target to which the first character has clear line of fire. If the attack succeeds, the second character deals the damage. Remove the Fastball Special from the game after the attack resolves.
Prerequisites:
Chosen characters must have the same team ability printed on their bases; see feat text.

Spider-man and Cable are not on the same team, so no Fastball Special.

I also believe that the FAQ to be released soon will keep figures that NEVER meet the initial requirements(Toughness but a damage value 3 or higher) from being given a feat card in the first place.
Pretty much, its 12 points, two actions for one shot that does at most 3 damage... Just pick up a mailbox for christ's sake!
I really have trouble seeing the merits, as Giant man just won't be able to do it until he's been hit, isn't as good, and probably is already in the middle of the fight. If you're worried about pushing him, I think you need another fig flying a medic around behind him, and you can use them more than once per game.
If you can get away with running around and beating people with your Man-Thing, more power to ya. I have a good trader thread too!

Problem with throwing Hercules is his damage is too high. Fastball stipulates that the thrown character must be a non-flier with toughness and a damage value of 2 or less. Herc's damage doesn't drop to a 2 until his 8th click! That is coupled with the fact that you're better off using Thor's running shot than wasting time trying to set him up for a fastball.
The core avenger's don't actually have to many viable options for Fastball, because the only characters that start with toughness either have too high of damage or are fliers.
Alpha flight works out pretty well though, where Sasquatch can toss V Puck, or if you really want to you can play crosswinds and have it toss Northstar.
