Does picking up an item count as an action or take a movement point? Can i move after picking one up?

Does the item immediatly go away if i hit some one in close combat with it?
Does the 3 damage for heavy objects add to the damage on my figure...say Gladiator with an heavy item...does he hit for 7 or either 4 or three??

For additional clarification, items deal differnt damage values based on the type of attack you are planning to make. For a close combat attack the items add on to your printed damage, with a heavy object adding two damage and a light object adding one. When they are used for a ranged attack, the heavy does 3 damage and the light does 2, but you do not get to add your printed damage value.

IE, She-hulk can throw a dumpster up to four squares for 3 damage, or can charge and hit somebody up the head with it for 6.

If she has a light object like the filing cabinet she can throw it up to six squares for 2 damage, or can charge and hit somebody for 5.
