I've always understood it to be that you cannot use Pulse wave while doing a Running Shot, but, last night in a game of heroclix, the issue came up again and now I'm not so certain. We all looked at the Universe PAC, and, while Running Shot did indeed say that it requires a Power action to work, it then goes on to say that after you finish moving you may give the fig a Ranged Combat Action which is exactly what Pulse Wave requires to do its "thing".

Are we misreading it somehow? Or did PW and RS become compatible earlier this year and I somehow missed it? Thank you for your time.

They are indeed compatible... that's why people love Blizzard!

You're reading it correctly---the free ranged combat action of Running Shot works perfectly to fulfill's Pulse Wave's requirement of a ranged combat action.

On a bit of a sidenote, nothing has ever actually disallowed the combination; every set of PAC wordings has allowed them to be combined.

It used to be ...???...I remember after a game and I was using Blizzard to RS and then make Barriers. I was like..sorry guys I was doing this wrong... Then I understood how RS did not work with a lot of powers.

But When Universe rules came out they made it legal.
Still cannot RS and Barrier though!

But barrier and pulse wave aren't the same powers...

Running shot allows you to make an attack against a target, where as barrier is just an action.

The RS and Pulsewave thing is cool...

Too bad RS and Barrier have NEVER been a legal combo

For reference on the reason that Barrier and Running Shot are incompatible---

Running Shot is a power action, and allows a free ranged combat action following movement. Barrier is a power action.

Since Running Shot does not allow you a free power action, it cannot be used to activate Barrier.

I know you already know they're non-kosher, admironheart; just making sure everyone has the right reasoning.

Hey, thank you guys for the heads-up! I don't know who it started with originally, but it was always a given among the HC players I used to play with regularly a year or two back that PW and RS didn't work together for whatever reason and I always just assumed they were right. Go figure. All that time they were laughing at me for constantly using Blizzard on my Masters of Evil teams, and I actually could have done some real damage with him if I'd have read my powers card a little more clearly.
