Character Creation: Asgardians (Odin, Balder, and Asgardian Warriors)
Well I was asked to do a few Asgardians, namely Odin, in Character Creation. It was suppose to be up Thursday with that being my only day off. I was unable to do it. As for the figure he's one tough figure. Power Cosmic, 5 damage, 18 defense, and 13 attack is nothing to complain about. His biggest thing is his Speed. Only thing I could think of is Charge, at the start and at the end. Also he has 4 kliqs of nothing on his attack was thinking Pulsewave or back to energy explosion but not sure. Your thoughts on that one would be great.
Now for Balder. This guy can't be hurt very easily, except mistletoe. How many weapons have mistletoe? I guess this guy would get scared at Christmas time LOL. First off as you see this guy has low movement. He stands on a bridge (Rainbow Bridge to be exact) and doesnt really move. You dont need to be fast if you stand on a bridge. He has quite a bit of defense, which is his enduring quality.
Last but not least in Character Creation. Some Generics, we need these back. Even if its just 2 or 3 Generics per set. When was the last time we got some Skrulls. Give me a skrull spies. Ok Back to the Asgards. For the Asgardian Warriors. Its pretty simple Blades (Swords), Charge (When doesnt an asgardian love battle), and Invuln/Toughness (They have armour and denser flesh).
i think you meant heimdall (the one who stands watch on the bridge) Baldar is the virtuous warrior (this is marvel uses, haven't researched the actual gods) overall very nice, odin still needs a greater range and higher movement with charge, either at the beginning or at the end (thinking surtur saga by jurgens)

great job
Is it Heimdall that stands at the Bridge. For some reason I thought it was Baldar. D'oh!
Movement should be much higher, 12 at least. Also, he should have phasing and mind control mixed in.
Attack is good, but he should start with psychic blast. Do not give him super strength. Odin would never use an object in hand to hand combat. He could also have tk.
Defense looks good.
Damage looks good.
Balder:
I think your way off here. His attack looks good, but defense is off. No way should he have all that impervious. In fact, he shouldn't have any impervious, maybe two, three clix of invulnerability.
Also, his damage is too high. I would give him 4 natural damage for on clix, then 3 damage with BCF for 5 clix or so.
Actually Balder is unable to be harmed by anything except mistletoe. That would be like saying Juggernaut shouldnt have Impervious.
I think - I could be wrong here - that mistletoe is the only thing that can kill Balder. I've seen him get the snot kicked out of him before - and there's no way he is more powerful than Thor. I think Kurse knocked him out with one blow.

Well maybe hurt is a little much. Kurse had, if i remember right, 10 times the power of Thor. It took both Beta Ray Bill and Thor (with power pack) to stop him. He is not more powerful then Thor (one of the reasons why I knocked his damage down to 3). Although he is a better fighter and more resistant then Thor.
Yonder foot soldiers needeth range. Dost thou know of yon bow and arrow? And Balder is immensely strong, doth he deserve a damage value of at least 4? And where's Ymir the Frost Giant?!

I was wondering if the foot soldiers should have Range.
Ok now that I have had some time to absorb this. Let me start with the Asgardians:
I would leave everything the same except:
1-only one click of Charge or perhaps two maximum
2-Movement should start at seven then work it's way down to 6.
3-They should have range, and probably an 8 range at that.
4-Being that Viking Warriors are berzerker/suicidal as a group, perhaps giving the Asgardians a Click of CHarge at the end (like Ult Thor) would be an interesting twist. They like going to Valhalla so why not "help" them get there! Matter of fact you can lower their clicks down to 5 and have their dial Pyramid down and then up to show that "berzerker rage" when one would expect them to give up. (ANy one remember Walt Simonson's Ragnarok and Roll? #341 to #351 volume 1)
Balder:
Well the first Balder you made looked Kinda like Hemdall, but now looking at the second one......well what a great difference. You can actually see a different character!!!!
If I had to make a critique it would be maybe one more click of two at the end of his dial (or perhaps 3 clicks of it so as to "force" the figure to use B/C/F). And also I would give him the same pyramid as what I mentioned above .( these Asgardians love to charge at the end of a fight don't they?)
Odin:
Now let me say that this is truly a matter of what or how we percieve Odin. I happen to think that he is the equivalent of an event figure (such as Galactus or Dark Pheonix). Perhaps not as Powerfull (800 pts) but powerfull nonetheless (400 to 500 point range).
That being said, I think Odin is too underpowered.
His powers should include a range of 12 or 14. Movement ranging from 12 to minimum of 8.
AV from 14 to 10.
DV from 20 to 16.
Dmg from 6 to 4.
I thik three dials would be too much, but two dials would be perfect . (like a 500 and 400).
Powers would include:
Power Cosmic TA
Phasing(Teleporting)
Mind Control
Psychic Blast
Pulse Wave or Poison (from the power of the Odin Force)*
Energy Explosion*
*note that both of these powers should work like Galactus where on his first dial they do 2 dmg and later on the last dial 1 dmg
Impervious
Invulnerability
Tougness (on weaker dial or second dial)
Outwit+
Perplex+
Enhancement+
Leadership+
Exploit Weakness+
Ranged COmbat Expert+
Support+
+ Any combinations of these would fit Odin
I'll let you think about where and how you could put all this together!!!!
"That which does not kill us, makes us stronger..."
