Strategy for Dummies - The what was I thinking thread.
Yesterday I did one of the most boneheaded moves I have made in a while. I had Amazo with 4 clicks of life left and against my opponents V Dagger with 1 click left and a E Hawkeye with 3 clicks left. I was in range of Hawkeye.
I assumed that the yellow damage on Dagger was exploit weekness so instead of grabbing a heavy object and basing both I though I would play it safe and hit Hawkeye for 2 damage from a distance. Now both of his team members have 1 click left. Dagger of coarse heals Hawkeye back to 4 damage and hits Amazo to his last click. 2 moves later and he is KOed. :cross-eye
I am an experienced goofball. Dont try this at home.
The lesson learned... If you are a evil Android, base those who are weak opponents and blow them away to kingdom come.
(In my defense, it would have ended much sooner with me winning if the dice would have been on my side. I am lucky I had probability control because Amazo did not role a 6 or higher at least 5-6 times in that game. With one reroll Amazo even critically missed. Argh.)
After venting, I can move on. Now how about your special moments?
it's not who you are underneath...
...it's what you do that defines you.
well in a sealed game i was playing shadow king my opponent was playing gladiator i mind conroled him and charged grabed a object atked his silver sable hit her and she master minded the 6 clicks to a pog. mad me so mad that i missed that.
That was a good one. I actually had one like yours but worse.
Spider-man did a range attack on Doom who was next to a R Sandman. I was trying to decide whether to give Doom the 2 damage or just incapacitate him. I decided to give Doom 2 damage so he master minded the damage to Sandman. Due to his invulerability no one took damage.
I remembered at the beginning of the game but then forgot in the excitement that Spider-man hit Doom.

In multiple games that I've played, my opponent moves one of his pieces in for a critical move. For example, U Thor running shotting to attack mynot-at-full KC Supes.
All the while, I've noticed that he has his E Black Cat sitting all the way in the corner. My opponent rolls, critically misses, and then realizes that he failed to move Black Cat w/n LOS.
i hait when stuff like that happends and your thinking what was i thinking #### #### ####. i have done lots of stuff like that stuff one time pog was in the way of line of sight so i pushed him to get him out of the way thats not what we are talking about but i think it's fuuny.
First turn immunity was a thing at our venue for awhile. Went to a different venue and first turn had Despero Outwitted and hit by tons of RCE. Whoops, darn those house rules.
I played Earthquake, it went off before my opponent and I had hit each other, and my force came out worse for wear. His figures took the damage better!
Originally posted by neutralmarkhot doing an early Mutant Mayhem sealed tourney i used Deadpool to perplex my U-men's damage to 3 so the U-Men could bust down a wall.

Yeah. I did that once, and lost the game by five points. The pog was worth 6 points.
At the Legacy Pre-Release, I phased Jinx up on the building so she would have LOS to my Vet. Ra for when he was going to attack. So, I have him attack Red Robin with BCF and the attack succeeds and Red Robin misses his Super Senses. I then roll a 1 on my BCF roll and didn't even think to reroll it until after my turn was over.
I also didn't turn off Stealth and didn't realize at the time that you can still turn off Stealth after missing the attack if you want to use PC.
I still swept him, but it was MUCH closer than it should have been.

In the pre-release:
"Sweet" i said as i pulled open an Ares, but noone could team up with him. "Thats OK" i thought because he's awsome. It turns out i had to vs a guy who had jade and 3 Psychik blasters with mystics TA. I got my god like butt handed to me
Finals in a team supreme tournament. It was down to my team of ultimates and another guy's team of ultimates. I didn't use any unique ultimates. I managed to get his Thor down to his last click of life with Hawkeye (one click left) and Capt. America (3 clicks left) both within 6 range of Thor. Roll with Hawkeye, critical miss, Hawkeye= dead.
Now for the most stupidest move of all time: I ran with Capt. America b/c I forgot he had a range. I could have attacked Thor and killed him with a range attack, but completely forgot about that 6 range. Thor catches up and kills me. It haunts me to this day.

I ran a team a couple weeks ago with several vet Ninjas and Madame Hydra in the middle of them with Trick Shot, plus a few other figures. My opponent pushed to move up his vet Havok just within his range. I looked at his dial and saw he had Pulse Wave, which would decimate my team in Stealth, so I TKed up an Exp Mandroid Armor to block his LoF to my figures, without realizing the following...
1) It was very late in the game,
2) Havok was pushed,
3) Havok's range is 8, so when using PW, it is just 4,
4) My figures were 8 squares away, and finally...
5) By moving my Mandroid there, it put him in clear view of three of his ranged attackers. Bang! Bang! Bang! No more Mandroid... and I lost the game by 4 points. If I had just sat back and not moved up my Mandroid, I would have won the game. Stupid move.
In my day, we didn't have Heroclix. If you were being attacked by Superman with a 3d dumpster, you just had to hope you could outrun him.
So, I'm playing a KC Supes team vs. a Thor team. Thor is almost dead...last click, I think. I can KO him with just about anyone, and was about to do it with somebody really small. Life is good. My Supes has taken a beating, too, but is in better shape than Thor. The only real threat on the other team is a nearly full E Punisher. Knowing that Supes can survive the piddly 2 dmge a based Punisher can dish, and that he can kill him with a single heavy object, I base Frank with Clark and laugh maniacally on the inside. Then my wife (the other player) in disbelief at my action says, "Punisher can still use RCE against an adjacent flier, right?"
