I need suggestions to strategies for big theme army play at 300 and up (by hundreds) team totals. I'm particularly intersted in Skrull, Shield, and Hydra strategy (I'd be interested too in a Brood team).
Thanks in advance.
"Remember what you have learned, save you it can." Best sermon ever!
If you're not limited to using current pieces you can get a lot of mileage out of a few Doombots, too. Flying wildcards are great, and I (at least) have little problem working them in with a Hydra/Aim team as artifacts they're making use of. The Hydra TA is a good one, though they don't have much mobility (flyers - unless you count MODOK - or TK pieces) of their own.
Skrull....give Super Skrull Trick Shot and make sure he stays on his plasticity clicks...hide him behind skrulls and let him take care of most people while other skrulls clean up...litter them between Super Skrull and other characters so it is impossible for people to get to your Super Skrull...
If you are playing Shield make sure you take full advantage of their Mandroid Armor's TK...it's their biggest advantage in my opinion.
Hydra...Play with a V Viper with Fortitude, Armor Piercing, and ICWO...then make sure you have alot of pieces to take damage for her...at least one or two dreadnoughts so they can absord 1 damage attacks without taking anything at all...If you have MODOK he is a great piece too...and make sure you have a few medics.
Armor Piercing, Fortitude, and ICWO make Viper a pretty good character especially with poison.
Heroclix 5th Anniversary: Expect Nothing...you won't be as disappointed that way.
With Hydra use Madame Hydra LE instead of Viper add trick shot on her and hide her behind a wall of Ninjas in stealth. She has a 10 range and will get a great attack boost from the Hydra TA, for a very low cost piece.
Also Dreadnoughts are very nice with stunning blow
Madame Hydra is a nice choice to be sure, nof - great Range and very cost effective - but I don't like to suggest LEs unless someone's made a point that they have them, or they're a mail-away item that more people are likely to have. Especially if I don't have one, too, which is the case with Madame Hydra. ;D
Yeah, you can't go wrong with the Moloids and Val-Or and the Mole Man. Toss in some Armor Piercing and Stunning Blow for ol' Rupert and maybe see if the other players are cool with some underground monsters, played by the Abomination or Ulik or what have you.
I've always loved SHIELD, though, particularly in open format, so you can have Nick Fury and the LEs. SHIELD Snipers, SWAT guys, the Sentinel Troopers, R Ult. Hawkeye and R. Ult Black Widow ... good times. And Mandroids will be a real edge in this battle.
I don't know if you're allowing DC, but the Gotham PD are hot sauce, too. DEO Agents, Gotham Undercover, Easy Co., Sgt. Rock, Mr. Bones ... Bones cleans up in swarm games.
"Yes, Mr. Death ... I play a you a game! But not CHESS - bah, FOOEY! My game ... is JARTS! HA! HA! HA!" - The Flaming Carrot
A character I like to represent a big underground monster is a Mandroid Armor..There TK and range is too represent them hurling rocks and moloids into battle...If you played them with alot of other characters yeah the TK wouldn't make since but since the rest of the team is only Moloids I think it is fair...
