Choosing the first sneak peek for a set is always tricky, because you want to show off the best aspects of what’s coming without playing all of your trump on the opening hand. That being said, leading with Mirage / Moonstar is only a taste of Marvel HeroClix Fantastic Forces. Stat-wise and play-wise, this is one of the best sets we've ever created, so get ready to be amazed in the coming weeks!
Mirage, AKA Moonstar, Cheyenne Indian and mutant Psion, is one of the prime examples of the excellent (and destructive) abilities of many transporters. Atop her winged horse Brightwind, Moonstar is a mobile platform of offensive power and rounds out the X-Men not only with a transporter, but with a front-loaded Running Shot / Psychic Blast combo.
While she can’t use her Psychic Blast with the Transporter move-and-fire ability, she can combine it with her Running Shot. When she loses Running Shot (or as a front-end option, if you want it), she can use the move-and-fire ability to hit for a nice 2 Damage. Only her Rookie drops down to 1 Damage; the Experienced and Veteran versions stay at 2 for the entire dial.
Her Defense relies on her Energy Shield, and her attacks generally require her to stay at range, so it’s best not to put Mirage on the frontlines of an attack. Let her hang back a little bit as a mobile Psychic Blast gun platform and as a taxi for wounded frontline fighters. If she gets hit, use the X-Men team ability to pop her back into Running Shot so she can keep up the fight.
But wait, how much will this cost? That’s the greatest part – Rookie is 55, Experienced is 66, and Veteran is 90. Those trips to the Danger Room just got a lot more fun.
Absolutely beautiful! I'm getting more excited about these big figures/transporters all the time. Looking at that wingspan, though, I'm guessing that some assembly will be required.
Looks and sounds cool to me. Dani was one of my favorite New Mutants. I guess Psychic Blast represents her Illusion Generation. I wonder what other powers she has that are not in the description (man I wish WK would put them in the Units section again...).
Hopefully I'll be splitting a case.
Visible Dials and Pushing Damage need to be optional. This is the way.
Does this mean that we're not getting a Valkerie and Black Knight? I can't imagine they're going to give us three transport figures with winged horses.....
I can't see her but, as much as I liked the New Mutants, I wouldn't mind terribly if she wasn't in the boosters I'm getting.
'Course, I'm not really sold on any of the double-sized figures yet. I'm actually looking forward to the regular sized characters in this set far more than the large figures so far.

Don't get me wrong, I am not complaining AT ALL about this figure. I'm just, once again, a bit dissapointed with the team ability picks.
She was a New Mutant, she was a spy for SHIELD within the Mutant Liberation Front. I would have gone X-Men/Brotherhood (since it's unlikely that we will ever see a new team ability given the Thunderbolts card...) and SHIELD on the Vet (or the LE, and made the Vet an X-men).
Still, great figure, I love the stats. It will be funny to see a fortituded Superman punked by Dagger, Moonstar, and Black Queen.
