Welcome to the Parlor -- Marvel FanForces' Ben Grimm
Welcome to Part 3 (of 5) of "This Old FF" where we build the New Young Fantastic Four. Since the combined point values of the Veteran FFers from Clobberin' Time is a Perfect 400, we're going to follow suit and build a 400-point FF team (Part 1 was Johnny Storm and Part 2 was Sue Storm). Although the unitard is not in style, are you going to tell the bronze Limited Edition/Super Rare Ben Grimm that he looks silly? Perhaps the Yancy boys will do it... except that this is Ultimate Ben Grimm and there is no Yancy Street... but now I'm wondering what the Ultimate Yancy Boys are like.
The review is broken up into two parts:
How well the figure does what it is supposed to do.
How the figure compares to the REVs.
"Type" tells you how the LE ranks compared to the REVs. "+" means "better than", "-" means "not as good as", and "~" means "a variation of".

Can you smell what Ben Grimm is cooking? 'Cause it ain't Aunt Petunia's broccoli casserole! It's CLOBBERIN' TIME!!
Ben, pun intended, is a brick. For 123 points, you get the standard brick stuff: Two clicks of Charge with an 8 movement, Super Strength for four clicks, a 10 Attack Value (AV) followed by three clicks at 9 followed by three clicks of 8 finished by two clicks at 7, two clicks of Impervious followed by three clicks of Invulnerability finished by four clicks of Toughness, and a base damage of 4 for three clicks followed by three clicks at 3 finished by two clicks at 2. (For those who are adding the clicks up, you'll notice that we have 2+3+4=9 vs 3+3+2=8. The correct answer is 1+2+1+1 and not 1+2+2+1... I mean 2+3+4=9. The last click has a damage value of 0.)
Where Ben stands out best is on defense. The first five of his 9-click dial has either Impervious or Invulnerability and he gets a nice defense stat spike as he switches over. This is especially nice when going from the 2nd click to the 3rd click when the 16 goes back to a 17.
Is Ben worth playing? Yes Rating: 8/10 Stars
How the figure compares to the REVs.
With a five point difference between the Veteran and Ben, Mr. Grimm is not a bad choice for downgrade if those five points can make a big difference for someone else on your team. The biggest losses are found on clicks 5 & 6 where the Vet has mid-dial Charge and Super Strength. The AVs are the same, the Speed values are more consistent for Ben, and the damage Values are the same until the last three clicks where Ben peters down to a 2 one click earlier and finishes off with that base 0 damage. Where Ben starts to make up for lost points is on his defense; Ben has an extra click of Invulnerability and bumps back up to a 17 defense on his third click.
Although we haven't gotten to the Feats section on roster-building, we're probably going to use the Fantastic Four feat. As such, Ben's ability to be better on defense doesn't help us but the Veteran's mid-dial Charge might come in quite handy. The Veteran Thing will be making our roster.
With respect to the REVs, is Ben worth getting? Yes Rating: 8/10 Stars
Relevant Battlefield Conditions and Feats Atlantis Rising – Give Ben the Unstoppable feat and he'll have less problems moving than lots of others. Low Gravity – With Charge, Ben can smack a foe away and still go get them. Of course, this won't always work to your advantage, but it might make for a fun a game!
New Young Fantastic Four -- The Roster
1) V Human Torch... 102 points
2) LE Sue Storm..... 49 points
3) V The Thing..... 128 points
4)

TOTAL.............. 279 points
great as usual, you outta do more of these theme team building threads, for groups like Excalibur or the Thunderbolts (especially now that the cards is out for them) good stuff otherwise, keep it up
The AVs are the same, the Speed values are more consistent for Ben, and the damage Values are the same until the last three clicks where Ben peters down to a 2 one click earlier and finishes off with that base 0 damage.
My Ben Grimm doesn't end with a 0, he ends with a 2. So, I think the Units section and the WizKids Figure Gallery have a misprint.
