I got this question...
Recently in a game of heroclix with a buddy. this incident happened and we got into this big blue about the whole thing.
my enemy moved a unit towards me, unfortunate for him he was in range of what was 8 units who had perplex. to make things screw up for him, i perplexed his defence all the way down 8 spots. leaving him with god knows, i think it was an 8 defence. basically this was so that all my really crappy units like thugs, lackeys and mainly the units that you would not consider 'hitters' to have a shot at this guy.
My first unit took a shot my enemy. and did one click of damage. after that he argued that perplex wasnt there anymore and he's defence goes by the dial.
now orignally didnt say that the effect of perplex lasts until the start my turn again. pretty much the same as outwit. And i pretty sure the only way he could stop the perplex was to acctully inflict enough damage onto the unit WITH perplex, and when that power is lost. so is the effect that i caused.
either way, i got this arugement with a buddy.
I just ended my 11 losing streak too by humilation to my oppenent, he's telling me i was lucky. So i need some knowledge. What are all these rules for perplex. and how does it work. i made an example to him
Unit1 perplexs Unit2 defence down by 1. unit3 makes an successful attack and delivers 1 click of damage. Altho the dial sez he has the same number of defence, He doesnt have minus 1 anymore.
I dont think thats true. but then theres
unit1 perplexs unit2 defence. unit4 attacks unit1 and unit1 loses perplex... therefore unit2 defence is restored to normal.
That i can believe... because its what happens with outwit. so wouldnt it be the same?

first off there is the rule of 3, you can only raise or lower a certain stat up or down 3. weather its perplex or feat cards you can only do it 3. perplex also goes away after your turn is over so the unit 1 2 4 1 thing is invalid. im not positive but im pretty sure after you hit him the perplex is gone.
PERPLEX (optional): Once during your turn, as a free action, this character may increase or decrease by 1 any combat value (including range) of any character within 10 squares, including itself, until the end of the turn. This character must have a clear line of fire to the target. This effects ends immediately if this character loses Perplex or is KOd, or if the target is damaged or healed during this turn. This power may not be used during another action.
· Perplex may be used by more than one character per tur n on a single character’s given combat value.
First off, be sure you are using the Marvel Universe PAC. That is the newest one and the only one that is currently tournament legal (even thought it has been FAQ'd).
Perplex lasts only until the end of your turn (check the PAC).
Perplex only affects the actual click it targets. EX: You want to tag KC Green Lantern but that 20 is rather hard to hit. You PPX his Defense Value down to 17 then attack him. If you hit him and do any damage then your PPX fizzles because he is no longer on the click you PPXed.
If one of the figs that PPXed him pushes, Crit Fails, or otherwise takes damage that causes it to lose PPX then then the PPX fizzles.
Most important here is the Rule of 3 (Ro3) which says that no combat value can be raised/lowered from its printed value by more than 3.
