i have studied this thoroughly, but i still don't know if i'm right.
leap/climb allows you to make a close combat action, regardless of elevation or flight mode. now if the close combat action you do is quake, combine it with the leap/climb ability, it doesn't make sense that quake would affect a soaring character. i mean, if the ground cracks open, superman wouldn't really be affected much.
i guess it's just one of those things you can do in the context of a game, but won't really apply to real life.

You are focusing too much on the name 'Quake'. Rather than think of it as an Earthquake like attack, think of it more as a large, powerful figures abilities to damage everyone around them. So, for Shazam!, he could be calling down his lightning all around himself. Hulk could be clapping his hands, causing that sonic boom kind of effect he does sometimes. Or, maybe, they are just so big, they can actually hit several people at once (Steel, Atlas, etc).
I could be wrong but I believe you are correct. a character with leap/climb and quake should be able to hit a soaring character when quaking. Wait for someone to come in and correct me before you pull it out though. LOL
Catering to the lowest common denominator since Feb 2003.

Oh, and I forgot to mention, in the midst of all that analogy, that yes, you are correct. Since Quake is Close Combat Action, L/C figures may use it to attack other figures on different elevations.

yeah, i guess if you put it that way it does make sense. i mean, some versions of batman has plasticity, and surely you can't take that literally.

Actually, its only the Dark Knight Detective (Promotion from Wizard Magazine Subscription). And that is the first figure we have seen from the new Game Designer SethJ taking over JonL's position midway through Icons.
I like the "names don't dictate what it can do" mentality that Seth shown there. I hope to see more of it in his Icons' work and Armor Wars.
