Kitty Pryde #3 - Rated 7 - FAirly generic but it has a sense of fun to it. Kitty has to fight a ninja to get the antidote for Lockheed. I loved the "Kitty concentrates to find her foe" thing.... ugh. And yea I called it, they want Kitty to lead and train them.
Captain America #9 - Rated 7 - Nick and Cap go to deal with the person behind all the problems of late but end up looking like fools as they have no actual proof. Also, the Red Skulls daughter is "freed", I guess to replace her dad. Nothing overly great aside from the bickering between Cap and his little girlyfriend. They need to get over it and just hook up. heh
Amazing Spider-Man #523 - Rated 7 - Just as SPidy is about to get dead the real Avengers show up to deal with the fake ones. Spidy then goes to stop the missle but is to late and it launches. HE is able to deactivate it but soons blacks out and falls back to earth (kind of like in the Hulk movie). Spidy says his good byes as he prepares to die... I bet he doesn't die... The issue had some good dialogue but again it was somewhat formulaic
New Avengers #9 - Rated 8 - As The Void attacks the Heros protect Sentry and Emma who go into his head and try to figure out why he doesn't remember himself and no one remembers him either. Seems that awhile back one of Sentrys old foes got a hold of him and hired Mastermind to mess with his head. The "life is a comic book" thing was kind of amusing.
Young Avengers #6 - Rated 9 - I really liked it. Kang having deciding NOT to become evil ends up wrecking the timeline and it turns out the Avengers died (somehow - no explantion). So he decidees to go back and be evil. Thus everything is fixed. Cap A and the rest tell the YA to disband or they... WILL TELL ON THEM! OOOOHHHH. A couple weeks later the girls convince the guys to get back together anyways and come up with a new name for ### GUARDian (they actually make a gay joke) and convince him to use "Wiccan" instead. ANd it would seem that Hulkling is NOT a Skrull. We still don;t find out "Hawkingirls" actual Superhero name. Fun stuff.
Astonishing X-Men #12 - Rated 8 - Beast going feral to beat DAnger was kinda.... lame. And Kitty (as much as I love her) showing a Sentinal that murder is wrong was REALLY lame. Supposedly the SEntinal had time tobecome self-aware and couldn't deal with the fact is murdered thousands of mutants so it wandered off to outer space to think things out... sure okay. BUT we do learn some interesting things. Prof X KNEW the Danger Room was alive and chose to ignore it. This makes the X-Men mad at him cause it basicly made him a hypocrite. We also see Scott unload on Emma cause he feels she's full of sheet at the moment. We ALSO find out that Emma is STILL working for the Hellfire Club. The OLD Hellfire not the new one that Sunspot runs. I bet she's just tricking them...
Runaways #7 - Rated 10 - Good all over. So the kids have been fighting supervillians. And Karolina finally makes her move on Nico but WHOOPS Nico isn't gay. And just as Kary is feeling really foolish a spaceship shows up and an alien walks out and says Kary is going with him cause he is her fiancee! Seems her parents promised her to him or something... turns out the guy is a Skrull... with flame powers and a force field? Could he be the Super Skrull? Uh oh. BTW Molly is the coolest thing ever.
Supreme Power #18 - Rated 8 - I believe this is the final issue of the "MAx Series" and it will now go to a normal Marvel title thus no more nudity and bad words. And to show that you "won't notice" they have none of that in this issue like normal, well except for Kingsley but she's part fish so what do you want? Anyways, the Gov says that all metahumans either need to come register or the will be hunted down and jailed or something. We see many new/old Squad members as they get the news. Only one I couldn't figure out was the fat janitor guy. Also, Hyperion sends a letter to the Gov and tells them more or less not to mess with him or he WILL kick thier arses and to prove his point he uses his powers to nuke a chunk of the Arctic.
Wha... Huh? #1 - Rated 6 - A bunch of funny (and not so funny) What If.... stories.

I was kind of let down by this issue, Just seemed kind of anti-climactic. Emma wandering off in the middle of the fight, the Sentinels self-realization moment. I even thought that Professor X keeping it prisoner, as some sort of science experiment was out of character. I thik that this issues only saving grace, were the interesting developments with the Hellfire Club. Unlike you, I believe that she is about to betray the team---whenever Whedon and Cassady come back.
BTW, is it me, or was Cassady's peciling terrible in this issue? It almost looked like the issue was done by the same person who did the Excalibur covers (recent series). Professor X especially looked bad. Rated a 6!

I would give Astonishing a 7.........I read it quickly during lunch. I however, did like the part with Beast. I hope by the appearance of the old school Hellfire club that we'll see Sebastion Shaw in the next Marvel expansion.
I know Mastermind died of the Legacy Virus in an X-men manual (really though, you bought the annual for the X-cutioner, and seeing him throw down with the X-men). I don't know if he's been brought back or not.
So now the real question is, what did our Russian 'friend' use the cube for at the end of Captain America? What new fiendish deed did he set in motion?
"Un-fun Dad, un-fun Dad,
He's so bad, he mak'a me mad
Un-fun Dad, un-fun Dad
He's a real cad, Un-fun Dad"

Another good issue. I can't believe I'm being sucked in to Bendis' writing. But I gotta admit, I'm liking New Avengers.
Now, am I to understand that those Sentry comic books that were in the $1.00 bin at my comic store, are the stories that this Bob Reynolds uses as his life story?
I rate this as an 8 also.

I enjoyed Wha...Huh? Yeah, there were a few duds, like Marvel trying to defend Avengers: Disassembled with the chat room things. But the hilarious ones like "What If Black Panther Was White?" and "What If the FF Landed On the Moon?" more than made up for them. And Jim Mahfood is such a great cartoonist, he could make anything funny. I'd rate it a 10.
My only hope is that the Big Lebowski kills me before the Germans can cut my d### off.
Re: Supreme Power #18: The Arctic? I had thought Hyperion took out a chunk of China. "Take that, Mousey Tongue." But now that I look back, I see that you're right. He just looked at the Chinese chess player while General Alexander was mulling over China.

Unfortunatley the Sentry "orgin" seems to be a massive retread of Truipmph from DC the super badass good guy as strong as anyone else and everyones buddy but everyone forgot he ver existed becasue of some outside force so instead of being one of the worlds greatest heroes he has to start over. And since when was Mastermind ever that powerful if he could do that dont you think he would have done it so he was powerful of something

And even though I know its not that new Hellfire guy looked just like xavier even looking like he was in a chair too (please just tell me it isnt Cassandra Nova she was the worst character introduced in the xmen ever
Not to defend a choppy New Avengers plot, but Mastermind successfully manipulated Jean Grey who was actually at the time the physical manifestation of the Phoenix force which is the most powerful thing this side of Eternity. His psychic control was so great even an Omega+ level telepath like Xavier was unable to break her free. Bendis skirts the issue with that little bit when Mastermind speaks out loud about how his power is actually stronger when used on more powerful entities.
ok guys, back to astonishing xmen #12... The chic on the last page that someone guessed as being selene isnt selene. She is...
Teenage negasonic warhead! That sounds more confusing than it actually is. Back in the first new xmen with morrison there was a creepy looking girl in Emmas class that says that she had a dream that everyone in the room was going to die just before the sentinals tear the place apart. In a later scene emma emerges holding the dead girl in her arms. While she may have died the resemblance between the two is ... uncanny
