Ok folks, just as I promised to so many on here, I've finally made the time to post about the most incredible display of Heroclix mastery every witnessed in a Battle Royale (with cheese, Groovy).
Today's Heroclix Wizard is ro_gan.
*Hey ro_gan*
ro_gan here drew a KC Flash out of his pack and obviously kept it, not for it being a Unique, but for it being a damn good figure too.
One can only imagine how frustrating it can be trying to deal with a KC Flash in a Battle Royale format, unless of course.....it's being played by ro_gan.
This guy can take down a KC GL with a Vet. Spoiler (no lie, he actually did), but when it comes to KC Flash, he goes limp.
Now to the game at hand:
We'll fast-forward through the first few rounds of guys setting up their figures, making a few attacks here and there and get to the real meat of this story.
Somewhere in the middle of the game, it's ro_gan's turn. He's got a Rke. Powergirl with about two clicks of life left sitting next to one of his opponent's Rke. Enchantresses (who is a Mystic for those of you not paying attention and she's on her last click).
Now I know some of you at home are thinking to yourselves, "Man, seems like Powergirl is gonna bite it anyways, so I'd have her go ahead and take out Enchantress."
Well, not ro_gan. He would have none of that common sense logic BS!
Without batting an eye, he promptly HSS his fully healed KC Flash up to her and blazes her for the dirt nap and gladly takes his one point of Mystic damage. Those of us standing and watching were immediately treated to a warm helping of Shock and Awe. We had to walk away just to laugh out loud at how ingenious that move was.
So, now you're thinking, "What a tard! There's no way he really did that!"
My friends, that's just the beginning...
ro_gan and CaptainMarvel finish off their opponents and get ready to do battle in Round 2 against two really weakened teams, one played by everyone's Super Pirate Envoy, "Paul".
ro_gan and CM start their forces on the outdoor portion of the IC Mall Map and like everyone does, slowly marches their troops forward for the first few rounds.
About six or so rounds in, ro_gan is at it again....
He has KC Flash run up and polish off a Vet. Kid Flash, then is left with the excrutiating decision of where to place KC Flash after he's made the attack.
Some things to keep in mind here:
There are only four figures left between the other two teams.
All four figures are in the fountain area of the map.
NONE of these four figures have move and attack powers.
Only ONE of them even does 3 damage.
The Turtle Barrier is only 3 squares in.
To the inexperienced Heroclix player, you may hastly decide to run and hide KC Flash behind a wall in another room out of harms way from the opposing team....but not if you're ro_gan.
You take (honest to god) 10 minutes to decide.
And not only do you take a good ten minutes to decide, you place him where he's going to get shocked by the turtle barrier for one click of damage in two turns unless he pushes to move to safety...
Well, ro_gan's next turn comes and it's pretty obvious he's going to have to push Flash to get out of the way of the barrier and if you're going to push you may as well attack someone, right?
Oooh the options he had:
A Superwoman on her Willpower clicks
A fully healed Vet. Obsidian
A Blockbuster who was almost dead
A figure that I can not remember because it played no role in the forthcoming events.
Seems like another tough call here:
Attack Superwoman and probably KO her.
or
Attack the figure that remains nameless.
or
Attack Blockbuster, possibly KOing him.
or
Attack the fully healed Obsidian (who once again...is a Mystic).
Folks, I don't think I have to really tell you which of those options he took. You've seen his mastery on display already, so why would he do it again?
*pauses*
OK, OK!!! Yes, he DID do it again!
After taking another year to make his move, he goes straight for the Obsidian. Fortunately for him, his dice are better players than he is and they would have nothing to do with him making the same mistake twice.
So, after missing the attack on such a critical piece in the game at that point, he's left with the mindnumbing decision of where to hide Flash again.
Let's go back to The Gap!
Lo and freakin' behold, as if what we were watching wasn't enough to already send us to the hospital, he runs Flash back into the room he just narrowly escaped from the barrier and puts him in the corner by the door.
Takes his push click.
On his next turn, he obviously has to clear, but I'm pretty sure he was trying to think of some way to do another click to himself....
His next turn rolls around and he discovers what we all already knew when he ran Flash back into The Gap....that the barrier was now in the doorway, so he was going to have to take ANOTHER click just to get out of the room.
Not wanting to waste another attack on Obsidian, he goes and takes out Superwoman, leaving just Flash, Obsidian, and maybe one of CM's last figures.
ro_gan's play after this was less than stellar compared to his previous attempts, as he seemed to actually remember how to play in the closing rounds to barely outlast the Obsidian for the win.
Now that my brain is leaking out of my ear from having to relive this event, I'm going to go lie down.....

I pulled a KC Flash in a battle royale at WWE. I goofed and my partner happened to forget to tell me I was ending my move in a position where I would get shocked if I didn't push (I guess he didn't want to deal with the 20 defense anymore than our opponents). Mistakes happen.
Catering to the lowest common denominator since Feb 2003.

Please, don't try to make him feel better about this....
