"...It's been a landmark day here at Gotham City Plaza. Stark Industries and Bruce Wayne Enterprises have engaged in a meeting of the minds of sorts. Together they plan on rebuilding New Orleans and are planning a city disaster plan for natural or man-made catastrophes can be met with new hope," says the newscaster.
On stage Tony Stark shakes hands with Bruce Wayne and both politely smile for the camera.
Tim Drake looks on, "Come on Bruce," he whispers to himself, "We don't have time for all this. We have to investigate all of these recent attacks...".
After the press conference ends a predictable explosion takes place. After the explosion emerges a new threat.
"Aw, man," Tim Drake says half-excitedly.
"I hate to run at a time like this, Bruce, but I try to avoid disasters when in person," Tony Stark says.
"I understand you completely," Bruce Wayne says looking forward for a chance to break away.
Within minutes Bruce Wayne is gone and Batman is in costume. Tony Stark, cursing that he chose now to carry a reworked version of his original suit, becomes Iron Man.
Together with Robin; Iron Man and Batman stand ready for their new threat.
I know, I know...ANOTHER Avenger. What can I say?. I wanted to try this figure, I wanted to choose a game I might win and I'm kinda waiting to see what new figures are released so I can build some new teams (expect a New Mutants theme before this is done).
So:
Batman R (Icons) 79
Tony Stark 100
Robin V (HT) 22
I said that I had pretty well decided on who I was going to run for the rest of my games. I lied. For one thing, two of the characters I was seriously thinking about using - Doom & Super Skrull - I'm also running in the FF game, so I don't want to overdo the characters. And while I really like the idea of Doom matching wits against Batman, Doom really needs more than a 200 point game. I'd have to do the rookie, and my first choice to team him up with would have been the Shocker. Decent team, but not the most sense, story wise. I mean sure, Doom can get whoever he wants, but he's had no history with the Shocker. I dunno. So I changed my mind on that one. Instead a more thematic team:
"So this is Gotham City," Mr. Sinister said. "I can't say I'm impressed."
"So why are we here again?" Arclight asked.
"To purge the city of it's undesirable, human element."
"That's a lot of people," Harpoon said. "It'll take a while."
"Dolt," Sinister growled, brandishing what appeared to be a remote control. "We're not going to do it one at a time. Enjoyable as that might be, we're on a rather tight timetable. Once my Doomsday device is activated, the mutagenic toxin will eliminate all the humans within hours."
"Sorry, pasty-face." A batarang knocked the control out of Sinister's hand. Robin stood on a nearby rooftop taunting him. "But I've got a date on Saturday night, and after months of trying to get this girl to go out with me, I'm not about to let a creep like you spoil it."
"Kill him," Sinister ordered, rubbing his hand. His voice was quiet, but the anger in it was palpable.
"Sorry again," Iron Man blasted onto the scene. "But if you want to kill him, you'll have to go through me, and you don't have the kind of power you'll need for that."
"Iron Man?" Arclight asked. "I'm telling Oscar you stole his trash can."
"Ha ha. Funny." Iron Man replied deadpan. "It's more than enough to take out trash like you."
"Come on, harpoons, show these suckers what ya got," Harpoon says striking a pose as he readies to aim. Iron Man cuts loose a repulsor ray knocking the weapon out of the mans' fingers.
"You're almost making it too easy, fella," chuckles the Golden Avenger.
Robin grabs one of Harpoons' fallen darts and tags him with it as Harpoon moves.
"I'd say it's not his day, Iron Man," quips Robin, "Maybe he just needs to crawl back into bed."
"Iron Man," Mr. Sinister said, "I doubt your armor will be enough to protect you from my powers." Energy crackled around the diamond on the villain's forehead and coalesced into a bolt that fired at Iron Man. The armored Avenger's evasive systems kicked in and he blasted out of the path of the attack.
"To hurt me, it's got to hit me," Iron Man taunted, "and if that's the best you can do, that's not going to happen, friend."
