My Team's Still Better Than Your Team Round 2, Game 3
Last year Gargantua and FlyingIcarus paired up 22 of Marvel and DC's best teams to determine the best 300 point team in the game. Now, after Mutant Mayhem and Legacy releases we're decided to try it again---for 500 points teams. And with round 1 under our belt, we now have Fantastic Forces, Icons and the beginnings of Armor Wars to choose from as well
Rules are simple:
***All eligible figures in a team must have the team logo on the base (ex. no Flash for JSA)
***Only the highest or lowest point figure can use the ta (depending on the ta). This is so the game is less about the ta, more about the team.
***We've chosen not to use feat or battlefield condition cards
***Total points of each team must range between 490-505
During Round 1, twelve teams were eliminated, and twelve moved on: Avengers, Defenders, Fantastic Four, JLA, Kingdom Come, Legion of Superheroes, Minons of Doom, Spider-Man Allies, Superman Enemies, Ultimate X-Men, Ultimates and X-Men. The six winners, and the two losing teams with the highest KO points will move on to the Quarterfinals.
Game 1: Avengers clobbered the Ultimate X-Men.
Game 2: Ultimates and X-Men are still slugging it out at a post near you.
Game 3: Supermans' Enemies take on Spider-Man and his pals.
"Sheesh! Why did I get Superman's watch tonight?" groans Spider-Man, hanging upside down on a ferry ride to Metropolis. He reads the newspaper telling of Superman's enemies taking advantage of Supermans' absense to wreak havok on his hometown.
"I figured tonight would be me, Mary Jane, a little KFC extra crispy breast and an old action flick. Some Saturday night this'll be. Why do you have to be so conscientious, Spidey?".
"It's a good thing you're got some friends to help you out, Web-Slinger," Iron Fist says to his friend.
"Yeah, glad you could help me out, Fist, you too Dagger. "
"Thanks Spider-Man," Dagger replies looking out at towards her destination and getting uncomfortable as the darkness of night approaches, "I do hope there will be more than us three, though."
"There will, Dagger, Doc Strange says he'll be getting back to me soon...".
Dr. Strange appears astrally. "How about now, Spider-Man?. I am here to aid you and...I have a friend."
The Hulk appears strapping a machine gun, "I'm ready to kick some major butt. Get your butt over here."
Initiative is 3. Probably par for the course of this game. You've got some titans there. Spidey's got a good group of figures but no real titans.
As for my choices: Dr. Strange sure has seen a lot of use with me of late, no apologies as I love the character, but you can expect him in the Defenders team with a lot of certainty.
As for the Hulk, I'm not familiar, I'm assuming it's an intelligent Hulk, if not please set me straight...thoguht he'd be fun to try and at least SOMEONE on my team is a big gun. Literally.
I've kind of found the ideal version of Spider-Man in the MM Vet (3 damage; 4 range with 2 attacks...nice).
Dagger has always proven useful and Iron Fist was a high point in my FF game (plus he's a character I love).
Probably could've figured someithng better for your team but not much...
U Lex Luthor 212
U Metallo 149
E Brainiac 13 122
R Intergang Medic 20
503 points
I was very tempted to rerun the same team as last time (Mongul, Maxima, Metallo and a Battlesuit) but I've been dying for a chance to try out Luthor ever since they posted him. Let's hope he's worth those points.
I wouldn't sell your team too short there. You've got some very nice figures. And just because you don't have any stand out monsters just means you're not putting all your eggs in one basket.
And yes, to answer your question, this Hulk has Banner's intelligence (at least until his Battle Fury clicks partway down.)
"With Superman...indisposed, our plans couldn't be going smoother," Lex Luthor said, leaning back in his leather desk chair. "Yes, I have to say I'm quite pleased with how things are rolling out."
"Don't get complacent, Luthor," Brainiac cautioned him. "I sense another group of meta humans approaching. Spider-Man and some allies."
"Brainiac," Luthor smiled, "do I sense concern in your voice? This doesn't sound like you at all."
"Yeah," Metallo chimed in. "I mean it's just Spider-Man. I mean we take on Superman on a regular basis. Spider-Man's nothing."
"I wouldn't say nothing, my friend," Luthor shook his head, "but I would say he's more in the nature of an annoyance than a real danger. I expect we should be able to handle him and whoever he's bringing along easily enough."
Dr. Strange creates a visual map displaying the adversaries.
"We face some of Superman's greatest enemies," he replies.
"And they'll face my machine gun and then my fists," the Hulk says.
"...Ummmm...yeah....so you were saying, Doc?" Spider-Man asks, "What's the word on these guys?".
"Lex Luthor. Brilliant mind with a super suit to boot. Brianiac 13. Superior mind with exoskeleton. Metallo. Big construct with a strong, hide..."Strange says.
"Hmmmm....seems a theme here," Iron Fist says partially with huomr but also making an important observation.
"Plus some person with first aid supplies, a medic it seems," Dagger notices.
"Indeed," Dr. Strange says, "A very tough crowd."
"Just great, a me behind of my mediucal insurance," Spider-Man jokes.
"It seems the Hulk has joinged them," Brainiac said. The three villains were on the rooftop, along with a man in an Intergang uniform. Luthor had called in a favor.
"The Hulk," Luthor pondered. "Really? That's interesting. The rumor is that he is potentially as strong as Superman. I doubt that, but I suppose we'll find out. I've no doubt that I can handle him with this, however." Lex made some last minute adjustments to the controls in his armor. "All right, gentlemen. Let's go squash a spider."
"Hmmmm....we need a better vantage point than here. That building should do it," Hulk says.
"Now hold on, Hulk, maybe we should..." Spider-Man starts to say but Hulk is already mid-air at that point.
Spider-Man shrugs his arms as he looks to the others, "If you can't beat 'em...". He then bounces to the top of the same building. The others quickly follow suit.
Not a huge thing, but Spider-Man and Iron Fist's move stats are quite high enough to get them where you put them. Spidey could get to R2 and Iron Fist to R5. Is that where you'd like them?
